Chapter 612: Chapter 612 - The Predatory Walleye
As the two home buses pulled up to the grand house, dozens of men in black suits emerged, moving with synchronized precision. They formed a neat line in front of the entrance and, upon seeing the group, bowed their heads in unison.
"I've brought an important person. Haha," Ronald said.
A male butler stepped forward from the line and approached Leon. "Please follow me, Mr. Leon," he said politely.
Leon nodded, glancing at Freya and Ronald.
"I'll wait here," Freya said with a smile.
Leon followed the butler to an open car waiting nearby. After climbing in, they began another journey, the vehicle winding through the expansive property for about ten minutes before stopping near a serene lake in the distance.
As the car came to a halt, Leon spotted a man seated at the water's edge, casually fishing. The figure was relaxed, wearing nothing but simple shorts, his white hair glowing faintly in the sunlight.
Leon stepped out and began walking slowly toward the man, realizing that this must be the person he had come to meet.
When he was close enough, the man spoke without turning. His voice was calm but carried a subtle authority.
"So, the Guild Master came to see me in person?"
The man turned his head, and his face became clearer. His features suggest an age of perhaps 50 or older.
Leon stood still for a moment, studying the man intently. Despite the casual outfit of shorts and a t-shirt, so different from what he wore in the game, Leon could recognize him without much difficulty.
"Goldrich?" Leon muttered.
The man chuckled softly. "Why are you so surprised to see me, Guild Master Broken? Have my good looks left you speechless?"
He stepped forward and embraced Leon, giving him a friendly pat on the back.
"My name is London," he said with a broad smile.
Leon nodded, a polite smile on his face. "Nice to meet you, London. I'm Leon," he introduced himself.
"Leon, huh? That's a pretty cool name... for a playboy," he teased.
"Thanks for the compliment," Leon replied with a grin.
Surprisingly, the vibe London exuded in person was entirely different from his in-game persona. In the game, he had seemed carefree and a bit eccentric, full of energy and spontaneity. But here, he radiated charisma and maturity, with a depth to his speech and demeanor that was almost captivating.
It made Leon reflect for a moment. It wasn't uncommon for people to show completely different sides of themselves in games.
But why did they do it? Was it simply for fun, a way to let loose and enjoy a version of themselves they couldn't express otherwise? Or did they perhaps want to live a life completely detached from their real-world identity?n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"This is my favorite spot to enjoy my retirement."
London said as he led Leon to the edge of the lake. There, a pair of white wooden chairs and some fishing equipment were set up. Nearby, a small yacht bobbed gently on the water, clearly used for fishing.
"Come, let me show you how beautiful this place is."
He gestured for Leon to sit, and they both settled into the chairs, taking in the tranquil view of the lake.
"Did you have a pleasant journey to get here?"
Leon smiled faintly, glancing at the scenery. "The journey here was genuinely enjoyable. We passed through small roads, villages, and hills to reach this place."
London let out a hearty laugh. "I can tell you enjoyed the trip here," he said, grinning.
"But why did you choose such a remote area to live in?"
"I fell in love with this lake and its peaceful atmosphere, so I bought the entire mountain range and built this palace for myself. Ha ha ha."
His eyes sparkled with amusement as he turned to Leon. "What about you, Leon? Would you ever be interested in living somewhere like this?"
Leon swallowed hard at London's explanation. He had known, and Freya had mentioned, that Goldrich was wealthy, but hearing it firsthand and seeing it for himself was an entirely different experience.
The sheer scale of London's wealth was staggering. Buying such a vast area, building a residence with state-of-the-art facilities, and employing dozens of bodyguards and servants -this was far beyond what Leon had imagined.
London was clearly no ordinary person.
"You certainly have a lot of wealth," Leon said. "Enough to accomplish quite a lot." London laughed heartily. "Ha ha ha! When I told you I could single-handedly support the development of Slumdon Town with the money I have, I wasn't joking. In fact, Leon, I'm confident you could even build an entirely new kingdom with my funds."
Leon slowly nodded. "Thank you for placing so much trust in me."
After spending some time getting to know each other through casual conversation, London extended an invitation for Leon to join him on his private yacht.
"You'll enjoy fishing from the middle of the lake much more," London said. "And the view from there is simply breathtaking."
Leon agreed, and soon the two of them were aboard the elegant yacht, gliding gently across the water. London handed Leon a fishing rod. A few servants discreetly moved about the boat, ensuring drinks and snacks were readily available for the pair.
As London prepared his fishing pole, he turned to Leon with a curious smile. "So, have you ever gone fishing before?"
Leon shook his head. "No, this is my first time," he admitted softly.
London laughed heartily. "Well, it's as easy as it gets," he said, casting his line into the water with practiced ease. "Just cast your bait and wait for a fish to take it."
Following London's example, Leon cast his line into the water and leaned back in his chair, the fishing pole resting comfortably in his hand.
The tranquil atmosphere of the lake wrapped around them, Leon only by the occasional chirping of birds and the soft splashes of fish breaking the surface. It was a rare moment of peace that seemed to stretch endlessly.
After a while, Leon noticed the tip of his fishing rod shaking vigorously, the line pulling taut as if something beneath the water was fighting against it.
Reacting quickly, he gripped the handle of the pole firmly. With a swift flick of his wrist, he began winding the reel. His brows furrowed in concentration as he focused on bringing his
catch to the surface.
"Ho... nice, Leon!" London exclaimed. "Come on, you can get the fish!"
Leon gritted his teeth, his determination growing as he felt the fish resist, making the
experience even more thrilling.
Leon's arm muscles trembled with effort as he gripped the fishing rod tightly, his movements steady and precise. His intense gaze was locked on the fishing line, which jerked and pulled unpredictably in his hands.
Adjusting his grip and alternating between reeling in and loosening the line, Leon relied on instinct, drawing from memories of watching others fish to navigate this unfamiliar
challenge.
The struggle was exhausting, but Leon refused to give up. With a final, determined pull, he managed to lift the fish from the water.
London moved quickly to assist, grabbing the net and helping Leon secure his catch.
The fish was striking... Olive-gold in color with a white underbelly and speckles of black and green along its sides. Its most distinctive features were its large, golden eye and sharp teeth, giving it a fierce, predatory appearance. Measuring about 50 cm (20 inches) in length, it was an impressive first catch.
"It's a Walleye!" London exclaimed. "This is a predatory fish!"
Leon couldn't hide his delight, smiling proudly as he held up his first-ever catch.
"Haha, this is so much fun," Leon said.
"See? Fishing in the game is enjoyable, but doing it like this in real life has its own charm,"
London replied with a knowing smile.
"Yes, I'm really enjoying this experience. Thanks for introducing me to it," Leon said.
"Of course! We can definitely do more fishing in the future," London said, then paused, a playful glint in his eyes. "But... I think it's time we moved on to something else. Now, let's hurry up and grab something to eat. And trust me, you'll be even more excited when you get back to my house and see all the beautiful maids waiting for us." Leon chuckled, shaking his head. "You really don't hold back, do you?" he said.
