Chapter 4 - 4 - Self Transcendence

Chapter 4: - Self Transcendence

[The Goddess of Sloth, Akidia, has chosen you as her Divine Champion.]

[As the Champion of Sloth, you will continuously gather experience even without actively leveling up. However, you will not gain experience from killing monsters.]

[Your leveling progress may be slower than average players, but you will level up passively, allowing you to use your time for relaxation.]

[Your affinity with Akidia - the Goddess of Sloth, has increased to 55.]

[Akidia is happy to have fulfilled her duty of selecting a champion. She is extremely content with her choice.]

[Keep strengthening your relationship with Akidia to gain even more of her favor.]

After reading the notification, Broken swallowed hard, a wave of realization washing over him. Being a Divine Champion was a blessing every player in Immortal Legacy desired. It was an incredible privilege, no doubt about its power. However... he thought for a moment. He could level up passively, which suited the Sloth's behavior, but he wouldn't gain experience from killing monsters. So, his leveling up would be restricted by this blessing.

"This might be good, but it seems like just the beginning. There must be more I can gain from this blessing, right?"

Without leveling up, he wouldn't be able to increase his stats directly. But then again, stats could be improved through other means. Levels unlock so much more. What now?

Indeed, stats could be obtained not only by leveling up. When a player leveled up, they received ten stats points. However, by completing certain quests or achieving titles, stats could also be gained. When Broken had acquired his previous two titles, he received a 10-stat boost in all his basic stats, which added up to 50 stats in total, equivalent to gaining five levels. Additionally, he received 50 Charisma stats and 20 Luck stats. Although special stats couldn't be increased using stat points, the total stats he gained were substantial.

As he pondered the consequences of his newfound status, a global announcement once again flashed before the eyes of every player in Immortal Legacy.

[[The person who always put things off and never got anything done was picked by the most skilled procrastinator.]]

"Well... I'm not that much of a procrastinator. That happened because I don't have as much time as others," he thought to himself.

[[After taking a long time to decide, Akidia has chosen the person who will represent her in the world of Yunatea.]]

[[This amazing event will be the catalyst for major changes on the horizon, signaling the beginning of a new era for the Immortal Legacy. Get ready for even more incredible things to come.]]

Standing tall amidst the unfolding revelation, Broken embraced the moment with pride. He took a deep breath, savoring the sense of victory that enveloped him. The wind caressed his face, and unbeknownst to him, spirits in a kaleidoscope of colors began to drift towards him, drawn by his new title.

"But here I am, having joined the ranks of the Divine Champions. Those players who have been granted privileges and soared to extraordinary heights. Soon, I will be among them," he whispered to himself, a mix of anticipation and resolve in his heart.

[By Akidia's will, you have been granted the title "The Champion of Sloth."]

So, the notification about the Divine Champion was still not over, and this time, Broken received the title. He expected various blessings to follow, especially extraordinary skills like those possessed by other Divine Champions.

Most Divine Champions had incredibly powerful skills, almost like cheats, that made anyone who knew about them envious. Particularly, the Champions of Gluttony, affiliated with demons, used their skills to wreak havoc in the game. But then, many Divine Champions used their privileges to secure strategic positions within royal governments, gaining greater benefits than other players and exploiting them for personal gain.

[You are now endowed with the privilege of Self Transcendence Blessing, a divine gift bestowed upon the Champion of Sloth.]

Self Transcendence Blessing? Just the name sounded extraordinary. Broken could feel his heart racing as he awaited the skill notification that appeared agonizingly slowly.

[This divine favor brings with it the potential for unforeseen enhancements to emerge at unexpected moments, affecting everything you possess—from your abilities to any constraints you face.

There will be a percentage that will increase as you refrain from killing monsters. The higher the percentage, the higher the potential for the Blessing to activate on its own.

You will receive upgrades to whatever you possess, albeit randomly, but you can hope that your mediocre skill might suddenly become a god-tier skill or your useless item might turn into a legendary item. Who knows?

Yet, please temper your expectations; this doesn't mean you'll suddenly ascend to unparalleled heights of power. True miracles require more than just good fortune; they are forged through one's own efforts.]

Broken nodded slowly after reading the notification. So, the Self Transcendence Blessing seemed like an incredible gift that would unlock the potential of anything he owned, although it would appear based on a certain percentage.

[Self Transcendence Blessing Activation Progress: 75%]

He checked the new progress bar that appeared in his system, showing the activation progress of the Self Transcendence Blessing. It seemed that as long as Broken refrained from monster hunting, this progress would continue to rise and eventually activate on its own.

Currently, it was at 75%, indicating it would activate soon. He was curious about what kind of effects this Blessing would bring him.

"Based on what I've learned, Self Transcendence is the primary blessing from the previous Sloth Champion, allowing them to break the limitations of a mere mortal. I'm really curious to see how this blessing will manifest on my journey."

Before the players arrived, the native people of Yunatea had also received similar blessings. Now, these blessings are being bestowed upon players as well. However, it's important to note that there has only been one Champion of Sloth among the players, and that was Broken.

"It's mentioned that this divine blessing will reveal itself at specific moments. However, given its origin from Sloth, I just hope the blessing isn't so sluggish that it forgets to make its presence known when I need it most."

Now that Broken had officially become a Divine Champion, the spirits that had initially retreated began to slowly return and gather around him. It was clear that they had moved away to make room for the arrival of Goddess Akidia in this realm.

"Hi, Broken, congratulations on being chosen as a Divine Champion," they began expressing their admiration and congratulations to him.

"Broken, I desire you even more now..."

"Broken, I want to fight alongside you."

At least Broken felt a bit relieved. Even though he had received extraordinary rewards, he had not lost the opportunity to make contracts with these spirits.

The skills that he had gained from Goddess Akidia seemed passive at first glance, but he was curious to see how impactful these skills would be. Being the blessing from the Goddess of Sloth, it was bound to be extraordinary.

As he tried to re-engage with the spirits, another notification appeared before him.

[The Blessing of Self Transcendence has granted the user five powerful new passive skills.]

His eyes widened, and his expression changed to one of awe, realizing that the rewards were far from over. He had now received five powerful new skills!
