Legacy of the Betelgeuse

Chapter 304 - Episode 304: Godly Item Quest. (5)

Compared to Loslan Village, Evian Village is a little bit bigger and they're not like Loslathan's descendants who built their houses on the trees. They use low-quality concrete as the foundation of their houses from the material they get from their surroundings. Ivonna is curious on why all Saintess Eveth's descendants have pale white skin and they look a bit different than any other NPCs she has been encountered. She should know about it by now that they're not human but high human since they all are the direct descendants of the six legendary heroes. The woman stops and turns around, she points her hand on the house on the far back.

"Our elder is waiting for you, please follow me."

For some reason, she only says that toward Ivonna and not to me by the look of her gazes. I whisper into Ivonna's ear and tell her that she should go there on her own since I feel like they don't like my presence at all. Ivonna looks at me for quite a while and nods with understanding, then she follows the woman to the elder's house. I look around and nothing is changed since the last time I went here with Becker, the only thing that differs from the past is that they're pointing their gazes at me with hostility.

I sit down on the ground and just show them that I'm not a threat to them, but then I hear footsteps are coming from behind me. A group of men is standing not far from my back, I look at them and it seems that they really dislike seeing me in their village. I stand up and raise my hands while staring at them, but they're still wary of me and don't let their guard down. One of the guys is raising his hand and the rest of them obey his orders, it seems that he's the leader or something like that.

"I apologize for the way our way of treating you, so I need a bit of reason first before we can continue or change the way our treatment toward you."

I'm still confused and so I just look at him and wait until he says something else. The guy is pointing at me while glaring at something surrounding my body, the guy raises his eyebrows then looks me in the eyes.

"You reek of blood, and your aura is so dark that we thought that you're a tormentor that will bring bad luck to our village. My question is, how many lives that you have taken?"

I furrow my forehead and I'm not sure if he's talking about players or NPCs but if he's talking about players, I don't think it's the case since all the players must have killed at least hundreds of players already. So he must be asking me how many NPCs that I have killed and I honestly have no idea how many of them that I have killed, not to mention the subjects are also counted as NPC. I try to count with my fingers but then I notice the [Ring of Blood] on my finger, I rub it with the tip of my thumb and the group of men is immediately on guard. I'm a bit confused but then I realize it must be because of this ring and necklace that they're so wary of me. I sigh and shake my head while keeping my hands up.

"I have killed thousands of lives..."

All of them are immediately grabbing their weapons and being on guard.

"But I never took any innocent lives, I killed people who have dirtied their hands from killing innocent people."

Well, I lied a bit since I killed so many royal guards during my quest on retrieving Krestan's limbs. I just hope they believe me since I'm here with Ivonna and they know that Ivonna is blessed by Saintess Eveth. The guy is staring at me for quite a while and it seems that he's thinking really hard if he should believe my words or not. He shakes his head and sighs with disbelief, I can tell what's he going to say but I'm not going to do anything since I don't want to create a new enemy, especially they're the direct descendant of Saintess Eveth.

The guy looks at the others and nods, they are unsheathing their swords and bows while I keep raising my hands. I don't mind they're attacking me since they won't be able to hit me anyway but the problem is my image to the other villagers and how they will treat me in the future if they're all scared and disgusted by me. They're all slowly walking toward me with the intent to harm me, they're all surrounding me to make sure that I won't be able to run away from them. The guy dashes and runs toward me with his sword pointing at me and when he's about to thrust his sword, a voice is coming from behind me.

"Stop it."

All of them stop moving instantly and drop their weapons on the ground, I turn around and see an old woman in a white robe with Ivonna is walking beside her. The old woman is looking at me and her eyes are wide open for a second and then she smiles so gently at me. I can tell that she's surprised when she sees the aura around me like the others but she pretends to not be surprised by what she's seeing. Ivonna is looking at the groups of men surrounding me and she looks so confused and I just look at her while smiling and shrugging. The old woman is looking at the guy who seems to be the leader, she smiles and stares at him that enough to make him feel a bit scared of her presence.

"What are you doing to our honored guest, Julius?"

Julius bows his head.

"We are afraid that he will bring bad luck to our village, Elder Lerelnia."

Lerelnia keeps smiling while shaking her head.

"Do you know whom you are pointing your weapon at? He is more powerful than anyone in this village, and your concern will come true if you swing your sword at him, Julius. Thankfully I came at the perfect time so our village is saved now."

Lerelnia looks at me while smiling and I'm not sure if she's just scaring them or not since I'm not planning on harming them. Julius bows his head again and then looks at me with fear, he immediately grabs his sword and sheaths it back to the scabbard then the others follow. Lerelnia looks at me and proceeds to point her hand to one of the houses.

"Please follow us, Mister Trevor."

I nod and we all follow her to the house that's guarded by dozens of people, Lerelnia orders them to open the door for us and we enter the house. The house is a treasury that their ancestors left for them and one of them is the artifact that we are looking for in a form of a breastplate. Lorelnia allows Ivonna to check on the artifact and Ivonna immediately walks toward it and looks around. Ivonna looks at me and signals me if it's the right time to summon [Heugron's Soul Essence], I nod and then she immediately presses her chest and an orb comes out from her chest. Everyone is surprised when they can see and feel a tremendous power and divine aura from the orb.

The orb is floating around the artifact and gets inside it, the artifact is shaking and then the orb comes out with more light beaming out from it. The orb is slowly floating to the window and Ivonna is just staring at it leaving the house, I look at her and tilt my head.

"Go and follow it."

Ivonna nods and immediately runs outside and followed by all of us, she looks at the orb is floating higher and higher. Ivonna is so confused and looking at me while pointing at the orb.

"What should I do next?"

Before I can open my mouth Lorelnia is chuckling.

"It seems that the orb wants you to follow it, Lady Ivonna."

Ivonna looks at Lorelnia and then looks at me, I nod in agreement and then Ivonna looks at her while smiling.

"I apologize if we are being very rude but it seems that we have to leave now because I can't control the orb."

Lorelnia is smiling while shaking her head.

"It's okay, Lady Ivonna, I hope that you will find what you are looking for. May the Betelgeuse and Saintess Eveth bless you, Lady Ivonna."

Ivonna smiles and nods then look at me while nodding, we both then decide to leave the village and follow the orb while they're all looking at the orb with disbelief.

We are running and following the orb that's high up in the sky, Ivonna is scared that she will lose sight of the orb but then I tell her that the orb won't leave her and will come back to her if she lost sight of it. We keep running and then the orb stops, the orb is circling around the trees and Ivonna is staring at it with confusion.

"What's it doing right now?"

I look at the orb and raise my eyebrow.

"It's trying to remember where the place where he breathes his last breath."

Ivonna looks at me while furrowing her forehead.

"Wait, we are close to Heugron's last stepover?"

I look at her and nod.

"Not really, but yeah it's not that far from here."
