Chapter 1 - I dont love you.
Chapter 1 - I don't love you.
In the famous nightclub of Beijing city that was exclusive only for the socialites of the autocratic families.
A girl clad in a simple yet elegant red dress was sitting by the counter. Her long, silken chocolate brown hair cascaded down around her slim stature and added a bewitching allure in her temperament. Her hair was but only a single one of her countless exceptions. Her skin was pale, flawless and retaining a gentle warm glow-giving her the attribute of a shining moon in a dark night. Her disposition was calm and graceful resembling that of a noble lady.
At intervals, people in the club would glance in her direction. Men, full of appreciation and admiration and women full of jealousy and envy. Even in the gathering of the most powerful and influential men of the country, she maintained her distinguishment. But none of them dared to approach her as if they were scared of her noble temperament.
Slow music played in the background. People, dressed formally were chatting energetically. Scents of expensive perfumes enriched the atmosphere and made one feel somewhat dizzy. Everyone was cheery and vivacious, out there to have a good time or gossip about the recent happenings in the city.
In one such group of socialites, a man’s eyes fell on the woman sitting silently by the counter.
Chen Feng long eyelashes lifted up to reveal those big brown orbs, clear and limpid, shining and translucent like some precious dark brown gem. She tilted her head slightly to glance at her side once she sensed someone walking in her direction. That new angle allowed countless people, who were staring at her secretly, to get a full view of her ravishing features, and their heart leaped finding those clear eyes sparkling with multicolored light from the stage.
How could someone be so attractive?
"Chen Feng?", Fu Jianguo called her arrogantly expecting her to fawn over him.
But this time, things were different.
The man was not bad looking. He was tall, handsome, clothed in a custom made suit and thus definitely belonging to a powerful family. His prideful temperament revealed that he was definitely not used to being ignored.
But Chen Feng didn’t even spare him a glance. Instead, she raised that translucent tinted glass, half-filled and half-empty with a wine holding an enticing red hue. Placing the rim of the glass against her those red, plump lips that were the dream of countless people, she took a sip elegantly and slowly as she took her time to relish the burning taste. She gently placed the glass back on the counter-feigning perfect oblivion and impassiveness to Fu Jianguo’s presence.
Her whole movement was sophisticated and refined like some lady of noble birth. And the people in the club couldn’t help but gaping at her from time to time and losing themselves in indulging such a pleasant view to their eyes.
A bitter sneer unfolded on her cherry red lips. But even then it looked so enticing that it gave those countless people who were secretly staring at her a slight jolt in their heart.
Fu Jianguo’s face twisted with displeasure.
"Feng I know you heard me clearly. Stop acting like you didn’t", his voice-loud, bitter and prideful this time intending to bring a response out of her by reprimanding her using her first name.
What right he had to call her by her first name? Chen Feng scoffed and gracefully took another sip.
He was getting annoyed at her lack of response. He wanted to break her neck but instead, he took a deep breath to control himself.
F**k it! If not for his mother, he wouldn’t even bother to spat at that bi*ch!
He swallowed his anger and took a seat beside her and glared at her as if he would rather die than talk to her. His thick eyebrows furrowed as he grabbed her elbow forcefully to make her look at him.
"What do you want?", Chen Feng snapped at him. Her eyes dead cold, her voice impassive and devoid of any emotion. Earlier she had been complaining to God about her lonely life. But now in that person’s presence, solitude seemed like a blessing to her.
Lack of emotions in her tune shocked Fu Jianguo but couldn’t shake his conceit.
"Listen to me. I know you still love me but...", Fu Jianguo asserted arrogantly.
"What!" She sounded uttery shocked.
Fu Jianguo sneered.
"No need to act shocked. Did you think I don’t know? Everybody knows it after your constant and desperate pestering..."
Chen Feng freed her arm from his grip angrily. There were red finger marks on her pale skin.
"Mr. Fu if loving someone means wishing for a painful and miserable death for them where maggots would eat them to bone or their flesh would burn painfully and slowly turn into black charcoal. Then I do love you."
Fu Jianguo was speechless.
"Trying to cover your feelings for me by smart mouthing me?"
"It requires me to first have any positive feelings for you"
"Don’t try to play with me", Fu Jianguo was getting frustrated, "If not for you having feelings for me, why would you rush to rescue my sister despite it being clear that you once plotted to kill her?", he said as if it was a matter of fact.
Chen Feng didn’t want to talk to him anymore. They were back there again. It was pointless to try to explain to him anything when he was already brainwashed by Chen Mian.
Fu Jianguo took her silence for her submission.
"Although I never had feelings for you and I greatly despise your jealous nature and constant pestering, I still respect my mother’s words. On my mother and Chen Mian’s request - the same Chen Mian, you hate - I’m here to pay Fu family gratitude and I’m ready to forget the past. As a token of gratitude from our family for saving Liling from that life-threatening situation, you are allowed back to Fu household." He paused. When no response came out of Jing Lihua, he said "But do not get your expectations high because my heart only belongs to Chen Mian and if you ever make a move on me or tried to plot against me and Chen Mian, I won’t tolerate at all"
Fu Jianguo expected her to bloom with joy and thank him repeatedly for him telling her that he would forget the past. After all, he remembered how she had begged him for forgiveness for days when she was caught red-handed.
But all he earned was a cold look from her.
It was his way of thanking her for saving Fu Liling?
Previously Chen Feng had wanted to rectify his assumption of her having feelings for him by giving him a piece of her mind. But after listening to that statement, she lost her will to waste her precious time conversing with such a despicable egotistical person. Because such a contemptible and ignorant person just didn’t deserve her time.
Chen Feng felt a tinge of self-hatred. Self-hatred for the fact that her naive self of the past had been in love with this guy for the past five years and she had been eagerly degrading herself to please him.
So she simply got up, smiled at him, turned and walked away.
That smile though brief and momentary, left a deep impression on Fu Jianguo. Why did it feel like her words didn’t mean anything to her at all? Why was she not happy for being forgiven? No! It was not possible. She was still in love with him and that was a fact!
She must be running away because she was hurt when he revealed to her that his heart belonged only to Chen Mian. Yes, it must be the reason!
He couldn’t resist his urge and reluctantly followed her.
"Chen Feng!"
She scurried through the crowd trying to get away from that bastard as fast as her feet could have taken her. Tears gathered in her eyes but she quickly wiped them away.
No. She was not going to cry in front of him. She had done that mistake once. She won’t degrade herself anymore.
"Chen Feng stop right there!" Fu Jianguo shouted in an authoritative tone "Now what? Do you want me to get together with you? I only love Chen Mian. I hope you make this clear in your head. I’m already allowing you back to my family. Is that not enough?"
Anger bubbled inside her chest. She took deep breaths to get a hold over that inflating fireball of anger inside her that was ready to burst any moment.
She stopped abruptly.
"I was here just to pay the gratitude for saving my sister’s life. That’s all. Why are you being so difficult? Though I know your intentions behind it were purely to earn a place in my heart once again, I still acknowledge your debt"
She so badly wanted to teach a good lesson to that person.
"I didn’t do it to earn any spot in your heart. I did that because Fu Liling is my best friend!", she said in a deadly cold voice. She took a deep breath. Under the moonlight, her features were greatly amplified. Her skin looked even more white and flawless. And those big brown orbs held the reflection of the round moon in them that could charm anyone’s heart.
She laughed bitterly.
"Why the f**k are you so full of yourself? What is so good about you?", she said in a cold, unwavering tone, "Listen clearly because I’m going to tell you this only once.", her eyes glinted dangerously as she stepped towards him almost scaring him with her cold aura, forcing him to step back, "I no longer have any feelings for you. The only feelings I’m left with for you are pure hatred and disgust ", she enunciated clearly, stressing on each word, so he could the concept of her getting over him in the thick head of his despite his incapacitated mental abilities due to his hefty ego.
Fu Jianguo was truly shocked. Wasn’t she a demure, quiet girl who wouldn’t even talk with someone in a loud tune let alone confront them using vulgar language? A puzzled and disturbed look unfolded on Fu Jianguo’s face as he stared at the girl in front of her eyes that seemed so familiar and yet unfamiliar to him. He felt a strange feeling when Chen Feng declared that she had moved on.
Wasn’t she the one who couldn’t bring herself to stop from expatiating her never-ending love for him? How could she suddenly say that she didn’t have feelings for him anymore? He didn’t love her anymore so why did he felt bad to listen to that?
No, she must be lying!
Fu Jianguo gritted his teeth.
"Chen Feng you’re refusing to admit your feelings for me won’t make me feel something good for you"
"Mr. Fu, I have made it clear that I have no feelings for you", she said in a deadly serious tone, "Why are you getting so worked up over it? And I would prefer it if you called me by my surname. We are not this close to be using the first name"
"Stop denying it!" He ignored her words. The lack of emotions in her tune was frustrating him for some reason. "If you didn’t then why would you always be flattering my mother?"
"I never flattered her. I just cared for her when she had a heart attack and that’s because she had always been nice to me and you know that well" Her voice was calm.
It must have been Chen Mian who had filled this up in his mind with these absurdities.
"Oh really?" Fu Jianguo openly sneered at her. He would never believe those excuses. "Then what excuses you have for the time when you showed up in my office?"
"Can you stop being delusional for once? I had explained to you even before that it was not you that I intended to meet"
"There can’t be so many coincidences, Feng’er. The harder you try to make me believe you don’t have feelings for me anymore, the more it proves you do"
How dare he call her Feng’er!
Chen Feng was burning with cold anger.
Under the starry sky, two of them were almost alone on the pavement. It was late at night so there was hardly anyone. Her lips curled up into a seductive smile as her eyes spotted a man standing nearby.
She calmly walked to him, grabbed his collar, pulled his face down and kissed the hell out of him.
