Chapter 8: Physical Education
Chapter 8: Physical Education
After another day of student life, she finally reached the last class of the day: PE.
She was fairly looking forward to this, as she had felt the weakness of her body, likely caused by a malnourished childhood.
Freshmen PE was mostly aerobic exercises and today it was running and brisk walking.
The Other Her abhorred this subject, primarily because it was the only subject she just couldn't excel at.
However, Khalifa knew it was necessary to improve her physique immediately if she didn't want to turn into those ugly zombies.
As she approached the fields, she mused what to tell the instructor.
After all, she had a bit of a weak body and was prone to illness, so she was often exempted from activities by virtue of her high grades.
No PE teacher would want to be the public enemy of academic professors, after all.
That was why, when Khalifa told her that she would definitely be joining today, the instructor looked at her very weirdly.
The instructor was a beautiful curvaceous woman with short hair. She was well-built and had a gallant stance to her, making her look beautiful but heroic.
"Are you sure?" The woman asked again. This was the little precious vase of the academe departments! She couldn't afford this burden.
"I won't push myself too hard." She said, and looking at her unrelenting look, the instructor couldn't say no.
Because Khalifa had a low sense of existence, her sudden joining after months of exemptions didn't cause too many side-yes, which was fortunate because she really wanted to just focus on improving her physique.
She was slow, much slower than her peers. She felt very very tired, sore, and very very sweaty.
Her ligaments were aching and she was drenched with sweat. It was very uncomfortable, but she persevered.
How did she do it? She imagined a zombie running after her, of course.
But those people watching couldn't help but look at the bespectacled girl with unflattering braided hair.
Many people admired her obvious perseverance. She was obviously pushing herself, and this in itself was admirable.
There were still, of course, some bastards who focused on the wrong things.
"I didn't know we had such a sexy classmate." One boy said, eyes focused on the bouncing breasts, and the figure revealed by the sweat.
"Although her face is probably ugly, who looks at the face so much if you have a body like that?"
"What's her name again? She's obviously very shy, right? Show her some affection and she'd run into your arms!" His friend added, licking his lips, as if he was licking something else.
His friend looked at him. "Be my wingman?"
"Only if you'd share!"
They cackled, already imagining what they'd do, but their breathing suddenly stopped when they felt cold all of a sudden.
They turned back to see that popular professor staring at them badly.
"P-Professor! We—" But one of the boys covered the person's mouth. As they said, anything they said could be used against them.
Hence, afraid they'd get reported, they just greeted him in a hurry and scurried away.
Cauis frowned as he stared at the boys' backs and he turned his head to the field and his eyes softened unconsciously.
Then he remembered how those boys looked and talked about her, and his mood dropped immediately.
But then he thought she was indeed very shy.
What if she fell for a bastard who happened to know?
As a caring teacher, he decided to take it upon himself to warn her.
***
It was fortunate that he thought so, because after school, he found those two male students following her to the female dormitory.
She was walking nonchalantly holding a large colorful swirl lollipop children liked to eat.
At the back of his head, he wondered where she kept it, but he was more concerned about her wellbeing at the moment.
He was too far from them to know what they were talking and chuckling about as they stared at the girl's back, but looking at their disgusting looks, he had an idea.
From his location, he saw another boy holding a dog. Only this dog seemed hostile and was ready to attack.
His heart dropped and his feet moved on their own towards her.
How they snuck it in school grounds, they better not let him find out—
When he was a few meters away, he saw the quick dog was let go and his eyes widened.
"Damn!" He yelled, running to her.
Then the boy fell before suddenly appearing, like a hero, bravely stopping the dog with its body.
And surprisingly, as if it was genuinely afraid, the dog squealed and ran to where it came from.
Cauis was relieved at first, seeing her safety, but he frowned in worry when he saw the gallant image of the boy in front of her.
If he didn't know the bad brain of these boys, he'd be impressed with his bravery, let alone an inexperienced girl like Khalifa!
"Are you okay?" He asked with a gentle smile,
Cauis couldn't wait for her reaction, he strode in between them and raised the boy's arms.
A packet dropped and he knew it was probably one of those scentless chemicals that scare off dogs.
"If you want to chase a girl, you shouldn't do underhanded tricks."
The boy gestured to deny, but his eyes met Cauis' sharp ones, shutting his mouth up.
Gauis narrowed his eyes, leaning closer to the boy's ears. "If you don't want to be expelled, I better not see you or any of your cronies a meter from this girl, understood?"
"Y-Yes!!" He yelled and ran away. From a distance, he could see his cronies running after him, distraught.
He heaved a sigh and his stance softened as he turned to look at the girl, who he realized was gazing at him the whole time.
He could barely see her eyes but he felt the heat of her gaze. It was a gaze of admiration, wasn't it?
In any case, it made him blush a bit.
Also, where did she keep that large swirly lollipop she was eating?
But what distracted him was the peek of her pink tongue.
He cleared his throat and regained his bearing as a teacher. He took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Make sure to call my number if you ever get into trouble, okay?" He said, and judging by how her phone was vibrating, he was also calling her number as if to emphasize the reminder.
As if unsure what this was all about, Khalifa nodded, and Cauis had an inexplicable urge to pat her head.
He gripped his hand instead and heaved a sigh.
"Don't believe in boys' nonsense. You can only think about dating after graduation."
She nodded and he finally heaved a sigh of relief.
It was around this time that he finally noted that she was still wearing those standard PE uniforms, showing off her generous curves.
It was obviously conservative, why did it look so sexy on her?
"Professor?" She looked at him in puzzlement, stepping closer to him, appearing very worried.
His breath became a little heavy, the heat in the air was palpable—
Riiiing!
She paused and looked at her phone. It was an alarm reminder of her part-time job. She said so and he nodded.
Relieved that the weird atmosphere dissipated, Cauis scratched the back of his neck in awkwardness. "Be careful."
She tilted her head to face him. "Thank you for saving me, professor." She said with that pretty voice of hers.
But what he didn't expect was for her to suddenly tiptoe to give him a gentle peck on the cheek.
"Bye, bye, professor~" She said with a smile, leaving him there on his own until he finally caught himself.
