Book 6: Chapter 63:2: Chen Heng: Don’t Play So Aggressively! Part 2

After replenishing his supplies, Chen Heng was about to leave when suddenly a gunshot rang out from a distance. A bullet hit Chen Hengs helmet, directly reducing his full health to just a sliver.

Judging by the gunshot, the long-range sniper was likely in the northwest. Chen Heng quickly took cover behind the blown-up Jeep.

Once he had patched himself up and restored his health to full with energy drinks, he cautiously peeked in the direction of the gunshot.

Playing PUBG was all about heart-pounding moments; you never knew when someone would take a shot at you from an unexpected angle.

Bang! The sound of a rifle shot in the distance pierced the air. Chen Heng swiftly pulled his head back just in time. A bullet hit the ground behind where he had been standing 0.2 seconds ago. Had he not dodged, it would probably have reduced him to critical health again.

Chen Heng suspected the sniper was a teammate of the two ambushers he had taken down earlier.

He scoured the area for any useful tools and noticed some fragments of rearview mirrors, remnants of the car explosion.

This game was incredibly lifelike; it even replicated details like shards of glass perfectly.

Chen Heng had roughly deduced the snipers location from the two shots fired earlier. Now, he aimed the mirror toward the approximate spot and scanned for anything unusual.

Through the mirror, Chen Heng could vaguely make out a gun barrel protruding from a house on the elevated point by the bridge to the right on the island map. However, due to the considerable distance, precise targeting was impossible with just the mirror.

[Author Note: Given that this is a futuristic game, minor deviations from the real map are acceptable, right?]

Chen Heng dropped a smoke grenade at his feet, waited three seconds for the smoke to obscure his surroundings, and then maneuvered to the other end of the Jeep, using the 8x scope on his M24 sniper rifle to peer at the previously pinpointed location before quickly withdrawing it.

Chen Hengs caution was well-founded. The earlier two shots had proven that the sniper was undeniably skilled. This was confirmed just after Chen Heng retracted his scope; a bullet pierced the spot where he had been moments ago, leaving a small hole in the bridges surface.

The hyper-realistic nature of this battle royale game meant a stark divide between pros and rookies. These experts were genuinely formidable.

Checking his status, Chen Heng noted that his helmet had lost half its remaining durability due to the previous shot but was still serviceable for now.

Amid the smokescreen, Chen Heng retrieved a level 2 helmet from one of the crates left by the three enemies he had eliminated. As the smoke gradually cleared, he cautiously extended the helmet beyond cover with his left hand while firmly gripping his M24 with his right.

Bang! A bullet from afar knocked the helmet out of Chen Hengs hand. He swiftly stood up, raised his M24, and aimed at the location from where the bullet had been fired, taking advantage of the enemys reloading to return fire.

Eliminated 6 players!

Luck seemed to be on Chen Hengs side. Given the haste in firing, he had only had a 70 percent chance of hitting his target.

Phew! Chen Heng breathed a sigh of relief. His biggest fear at this point was that the expert he faced might have a teammate who could revive him. In a game where teammates could rescue downed players multiple times, having or not having a teammate made a significant difference, especially when both sides were sniping experts.

Chen Heng was also grateful that the opponent seemed to have a level 2 helmet at best; otherwise, one shot wouldnt have been enough to kill him.

Then Chen Heng selected the helmet that was in the best condition among the three fallen victims, put it on, and headed toward the elevated point.

While advancing, he continuously scanned his surroundings, swiveling his head, alert for sneak attacks.

Inside the building, he found a crate by the window. From it, he retrieved some items he needed.

The sniper had both an M24 and a Kar98k, just like Chen Heng. This revelation sent shivers down Chen Hengs spine. Fortunately, his quick reaction had spared him. He exchanged his Kar98k for the M24.

Although neither the Kar98k nor the M24 could kill someone wearing a level 3 helmet with a single shot, the sound of the M24 was just so much better. (Kar98k: Im just too difficult to use)

While sipping his drink, Chen Heng checked the scores for the red and black sides, a feature only available to the 14 Servants participating in the match.

Black:Red 10:5

Since the match hadnt ended yet, these scores didnt reflect the points from the rankings.

Judging from these scores alone, Chen Hengs team was in the lead by a large margin. However, it was worth noting that Chen Heng alone earned six points. In other words, without Chen Heng, the red side would have had more eliminations than the black side.

However, there was some good news. Chen Hengs side had sustained zero casualties, meaning no one had died so far. In contrast, two red team Servants had already perished.

The specifics of who had died were unknown since this information wasnt displayed.

Hey, Jeanne dArc, hows your side doing? Chen Heng connected to the teams dedicated channel.

Oh! Its Ah Heng! Were doing fine here. Everyone except you has regrouped. Weve finished searching the nuclear power plant and eliminated four enemies. Now, everyone has at least a basic loadout, with every player armed with a rifle. Currently, were heading toward M City.

You guys shouldnt go to M City right now. When I landed, I saw at least two teams drop near M City. Im not sure if those two teams are still alive or not, so its better to avoid M City for the time being. The rules of this match dictate that a high rank is more valuable than a high kill count, so unless absolutely necessary, try not to engage in aggressive combat. When Chen Heng parachuted in earlier, he had spotted two teams landing near M City. However, he was descending too fast to confirm if more players came after that.

As Chen Heng was currently staking out the bridge, which was quite a distance from M City, he couldnt hear any gunfire from M City, either, so he had no idea what was happening there.

Then why did you take down six players alone?

Dont worry about that. I encountered a little surprise. It wasnt intentional. Anyway, its best to avoid conflicts with other players and focus on getting to the finals. The final circle is currently set near the research facility, so how about you guys head to the prison?
