Chapter 198 - School Inspection
After killing the six newly arrived members of the robbery gang, Nile and the others didn't stay on the same spot any longer.
The school was their primary goal of coming here so they immediately went towards it, leaving the enemies dead bodies behind.
Considering the fact that the school was made into a base by the group, he doubts if there are still zombies remaining in the area. Nevertheless, they still went inside the school premises just to be sure.
The Nile didn't feel any guilt towards the beggar man who provided him with information. First, he didn't know if what he said was true about the factions and stuffs like that but due to having no information about the town at all, he decided to believe the man partially.
At that time, he was already considering to let the man live. However, after hearing his story about him and the others, Nile immediately decided to kill them once and for all.
It's because he could tell that the beggar man was lying. He said that the seven of them only followed orders and the whole plan of robbing someone was all the dead men's plan.
It was clearly a lie. His story also contradicts what he said earlier. He said that they didn't join the two factions as that would mean that they would follow orders from higher-ups.
From that alone, one could tell how prideful they are. He guessed that before the group made a move, they must wait for the approval of the other members first.
Regardless of what he assumed was true or not, Nile still killed the man on the spot and ordered for Maximo and Croco to finish the rest. It can also be considered as rooting out future problems.
Riding above Maximo's back, Nile lazily leaned on the backrest of the saddle as he inspected the surroundings using his sight and the System Map.
He didn't want to miss something so he made sure that every classroom was empty before moving to inspect the other rooms.
With the combination of his eyes and System Map, it would be near impossible that he would miss a zombie inside a room.
After a few minutes of inspection, they finally managed to locate their first prey. It was a level one zombie. On his estimate, it seems that the zombie was a teen before becoming a zombie.
The reason he thought of it as such was because of the ripped jeans the zombie was wearing.
The zombie didn't appear on the System Map and Nile only spotted it with his own eyes. The zombie was leaning on a door just beside the toilet for females.
Its foot was mutilated hence the reason why it couldn't move.
Nile didn't feel any sympathy towards the disabled zombie so he ordered Croco to finish the man instantly.
The familiar feeling of the cool sensation washing over his entire body appeared along with the System prompt notifying him of the zombie's second death.
Nile nodded in approval as he lightly kicked the carabao's side belly urging him to move forward.
After more than half an hour, Nile and the others appeared in front of the school unharmed. Aside from that one zombie, they didn't encounter something dangerous inside.
Although there was no class during the start of the apocalypse, Nile was still bothered by the fact that the school premises had many dead rotting bodies lying around.
From what he had seen so far, approximately 20 or more bodies are lying around the campus. The maggots were on a feast and as always, they are so full that they are quite fat even with the standard of animal mutations.
Nile took a glance at the System Map and noticed a red dot blinking in it.
It suddenly pops up on the periphery of his System Map range so he thought that it just arrived around it.
Nile didn't waste any longer as he decided to intercept the zombie ahead. He let Maximo gallop rapidly towards the zombie and not even a minute had passed when they arrived near the zombie. Croco was following them, his body wriggling like a snake.
The zombie stopped on its track after seeing them blocked its path.
Nile stared at the zombie ahead of him and noticed that it was wounded. It was a level two zombie but it was already on the verge of death. A portion of its skull was open and the rotting brains inside were clear to see. A huge wound could be seen on its throat, dark blood was dripping out of the wound but the zombie seems to have didn't mind it at all. It continues to stare at them, curious and at the same time alert.
'That must be the reason why its indicator is constantly blinking. So blinking dot means it was near death's door.' He thought.
Seeing the state the zombie was in, Nile felt that it was perfect for Maximo to battle.
He hurriedly jumped off his back and pointed at the zombie in the distance. "Max, kill that one for me."
The carabao, Maximo harrumph and secretly wish that his master wouldn't interfere this time.
He scratches his hoof on the ground as he stared at the zombie in the distance intently.
Battle intent was apparent to his eyes as he waited for the zombie to make a single movement.
Fighting spirit was apparently oozing off of him but after hearing what his master said next, he instantly trembled in fright.
"That's a level two zombie by the way!"
Maximo stared at his master intently.
'Why didn't you tell me earlier?'
'Do you want me to die?'
Ridiculous thoughts appeared inside the carabao's mind. Fortunately, his despair was soon lifted as his master suddenly said something that made him happy and sad at the same time.
"Forget it, Croc, help Max and kill that zombie quickly."
Maximo could only smile wryly as a response.
