Inside The Black Mist

Chapter 41 - Uneasiness

When Zhou Wang woke up, he felt excruciating pain in his ribs and the back of his head. When he tried to stand up, he realized he was tied to a chair. To his surprise, he found himself in an interrogation room on a train!

"Let me go! Who did this? Do you know who I am?" Zhou Wang shouted in shock and anger.

The door to the interrogation room opened, and Luo Shan and the train conductor walked in. When they saw him, Zhou Wang yelled, "What are you doing? Release me immediately!"

He tried to activate his Star Energy inside his body, but it didn't respond. Then he noticed he was wearing a collar.

A Star Energy interference device!

This device could disrupt the Star Energy within Ascenders, and while it only worked on lower-level Ascenders, it was more than enough to deal with him.

What made Zhou Wang even more terrified was that such a device was usually used on criminals.

So, are they treating me as a criminal now?

Luo Shan looked at him coldly and said, "What we're doing, you know very well. Zhou Wang, you have some nerve trying to violate Xun?"

Zhou Wang's heart sank as he remembered his actions before he blacked out.

"So what?" Zhou Wang, with bloodshot eyes, exclaimed, "That woman is not an Upper Citizen yet, and what I did was legal! It's you who are illegally detaining an Upper Citizen, and one with a family. Aren't you afraid of retaliation from the Zhou family?"

Luo Shan sneered, "The moment she became an Ascender, Xun became an Upper Citizen. She just hasn't obtained the fortification certification yet. Even if she were still a Lower Citizen, she's my student. That means no one can harm her. At least, neither you nor your family have that right!"

Zhou Wang shouted, "Shut up! You, the woman who came from the Western Continent, what makes you think you're so special just because you know a bit of medicine?! I advise you to release me immediately, or after I become a High-Level Ascender, I'll deal with you!"

Smack!

The train conductor slapped Zhou Wang hard and said, "Shut your mouth! Even the City Lord shows respect to Doctor Luo Shan. Who do you think you are, daring to use such foul language with a doctor?!"

Luo Shan shook her head and told the train conductor, "He's all yours."

The train conductor saluted and said, "Rest assured, I'll hand him over to the Iron Wall Legion."

Zhou Wang was bewildered and shouted, "Why hand me over to the Iron Wall? I'm a member of the Night Walkers, what does that have to do with the Iron Wall?"

Luo Shan walked away, and the train conductor sneered, "Young Master Zhou Wang, your deeds have already become known to the Night Walkers. Under General Counselor Ling's personal order, you will be immediately expelled from the Night Walkers. As for the crimes you've committed, the Iron Wall will take over. After all, they are more adept at handling fortification matters. Oh, by the way, this matter has already been reported to your family. Guess how the Zhou family replied?"

Zhou Wang couldn't help but swallow hard and asked, "How did they reply?"

"Let it be handled, and offer a heartfelt apology to Miss Xun," the train conductor gave an answer that left Zhou Wang in despair.

Zhou Wang lost all his strength, and his family's response indicated they were giving up on him as their descendant. This was likely done to appease Xun and Luo Shan.

Perhaps a single Luo Shan or even a Glory Level wasn't enough to make the family make such a concession. But if both were combined, that might change things.

At this moment, Zhou Wang realized he had been too impatient and underestimated the Glory Level as well as Luo Shan's influence.

If it weren't for that white-haired kid, Xun might already be his woman, and the outcome would be completely different.

He was so close to reaching paradise, but now he felt like he was in hell!

I refuse to accept this! I won't accept it!

With gritted teeth, Zhou Wang squeezed out the words, "Tianyang, you bastard, I'm not finished with you!"

When Tianyang returned to the fortress, it was the following afternoon.

At three o'clock, the sunlight was just right.

Tianyang went to the transfer platform and took an electromagnetic motorcycle, heading towards the lower city area. The wind blew against him as he rode on the road, and the young man was in high spirits.

The Night Walkers were about to banish Zhou Wang and turn the case over to the Iron Wall Legion after Luo Shan reported the trouble he had caused.

For some reason, Tianyang noticed that his advancement progress had increased by 2 percentage points again, now reaching 42%.

Additionally, Xun had invited him to her home in three days, saying she wanted to personally cook a meal as a way to thank Tianyang for his help. Tianyang looked forward to that dinner because, in his entire life, he had never eaten a meal made by any woman other than his mother.

The ride back to the lower city was quiet. Afterward, Tianyang didn't rush home. He went to a store and used 15 contribution points to buy bread, eggs, ham, and even fresh fish.

A fresh fish!

Tianyang began to imagine how his mother would react when she saw these ingredients. In his memory, the last time they had fish was ten years ago.

Since it was still early, Tianyang didn't head home immediately. Instead, he drove to the "Volcano Bar." At this time, his mother should still be working there as a cleaner.

However, when he arrived at the bar, he found the front door tightly shut. Tianyang got off the motorcycle and knocked on the door, saying, "Kaidi, are you there?"

He repeated the call several times, but there was no response.

It was strange.

Tianyang walked up to the window and noticed it was covered in a layer of dust, as if it hadn't been cleaned for several days.

This was impossible. Since becoming a cleaner at the bar, Nanfei has meticulously cleaned every window. Tianyang couldn't believe that she would ever be lazy.

He knocked on the window, and not far away, a homeless man sitting on the ground called out, "Stop knocking. Kaidi hasn't opened the door for several days."

Tianyang looked at him and asked, "What happened?"

The homeless man mumbled, "How should I know? Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you. What's it got to do with me?"

Tianyang thought for a moment and then placed a piece of bread in front of him, saying, "Does it have anything to do with you now?"

The homeless man smiled and said, "Add a piece of ham, and it might."

After a moment, the homeless man discreetly tucked the food away and whispered, "I heard that a few days ago, Kaidi was beaten up. He nearly lost his life, but the cripple guy from East Street saved him. If nothing unexpected happened, Kaidi should still be there. You can go and check."

Tianyang immediately hopped on his motorcycle. He had a bad feeling about this. Kaidi was a bit of a local authority in the lower city, and it was rare for anyone to provoke him, let alone beat him half to death. He was also worried about his mother.

If something happened at the Volcano Bar, would his mother be affected?

The young man rushed home, and his anxiety grew when he saw the layer of dust on the door.
