Chapter 27: Preparing For A New Mission
Chapter 27: Preparing For A New Mission
"That idiot..." Captain Aelia said as she put the device back into her pocket before stuffing meat in her mouth.
"Um, Captain Aelia, so you are going on another mission next week..."
"Call me Aelia if we're alone. And also, I am not going on a mission next week..."
"Huh?" Hael raised an eyebrow at her words.
"But I just heard you saying to sign you up for the mission..."
"Yes. I and my crew will be going on the mission..." Captain Aelia said as Hael nodded repeatedly...
"Ok, ok. You and your crew...." Hael said as Captain Aelia shook her head while looking at him as if he was an idiot.
"I hope you know, my crew also includes you, right?"
"WHAT!? Of course it doesn't. I am your forcibly recruited Intern, not your crew..." Hael protested as Captain Aelia nodded.
"Yeah, that isn't wrong. But do you know the law Act 6 of Intern Recruitment..."
"Here we go again..." Hael said, his expression rapidly dropping.
"Well, it says that the captain is allowed to take his or her intern any way he or she likes, provided that there will be no potential danger to the Intern's life..." Captain Aelia quoted.
"But there actually is a potential danger to my life. I couldn't even do anything than get my arm broken in the last mission. The Eldritch moved too fast for me to even grasp their movement.
And this is a mission where they are sending multiples of your power level into. I will just be asking to get killed, isn't that right!?" Hael asked as Captain Aelia gave a nod of approval.
"That is right."
"Good. So I'm out of this mission, right?"
"No."
"WHAT!?"
"You are unfit for a crew member because you ought to have fused with a core at 16, and then go for two years of training at the Orcana military group before you are placed under a captain..."
"And how many years old are you even, Kiddo?" "16?" Hael replied as Captain Aelia raised an eyebrow.
"So this is the age where you ought to fuse with your first core..."
"Don't tell me it's free, and besides I don't have any money on me..."
"A source of such power is never free. But you don't have to worry about it as the Orcana military group will pay for it for you in exchange for two years of service for them after your training.
But you won't have to do that because I will be paying for it, and that means no need to spend two years with the Orcana military group. You'll get tutored by me personally too, you're very lucky kiddo aren't you..."
"You just said that a source of power is never free, and I'm guessing that also applies to what you're doing for me? Isn't it?"
"Of course it is..." Captain Aelia said with a smile as Hael's eyebrows furrowed.
"Good. So what exactly is the price that I will have to pay for all the 'niceness' that you have been showing to me?"
"Simple. You just have to be mine...forever." Captain Aelia said in an evil tone as Hael sighed.
"You already said that, twice now..." Hael said, raising two of his fingers.
"Well, You simply just have to be mine forever..."
"Thrice now..." He said, putting up his third finger...
"But seriously Hael, you'll be deader than dead if you don't fuse with your first core. Life as an ordinary civilian is a thing of the past now.
Thousands of teens like you have already undergone their first fusion and preparing to enter the Orcano military group. That is the only path to a successful future on Earth right now, unless you want your life and death placed in the hands of others..." Captain Aelia said, this time extremely seriously...
"So be happy if you have someone to pay for your first mission, and that you don't have to live four years of your life bonded to a large organization such as the Orcano military group.
How many have died before in the first two years of training, and how many more have died before even completing the two years of service? They reach more than tens of thousands Hael.
This isn't your backwater world where you hunt for big fishes and as soon as you find a big one, your day is done..."
"We're in the middle of a war with the possibility of outright extermination of an entire race or mutual destruction of both. Grow stronger or be nothing for life, that is Earth right now as we speak." Captain Aelia said as Hael knitted his eyebrows together...
"So go to sleep and tomorrow you will be beginning a very tough and intense training session. Your performance in the last mission, even as a person who has yet to fuse with a core, was nonetheless not something you should be proud of.
I'll see what I can do about you getting your first core and also learning what type of Cyberhunter you're best fit for... Sweet dreams Hael..." Captain Aelia said as Hael watched her rise up from her seat and jump down from the platform, landing on the ground like nothing before quickly disappearing into the faraway steps...
"[Guess, the Eldritches aren't the only ones having their own fair share of troubles. The Humans too can feel the heat...]" The system's voice rang in his head as Hael packed up the remaining dishes and quickly devoured them before packing up the plates from the table.
Even though he was a prince, it had become a minor job of his to pack away the family plates anytime he ate with his brothers and fathers. They had said it was a sign of courtesy for being the youngest.
So he quickly packed up the plates, but instead of outright jumping down, Hael looked at the particles oozing out from the Anti-gravity teleporter and quickly jumped on it.
And just like before, the Teleporter gently lowered him to the ground and he made his way towards the kitchen before heading back to his room.
But on his way, a notification panel suddenly appeared...
