Chapter 244: Bounty
The man screamed in extreme pain, but he didn't pass out. He gritted his teeth while trying to hold back tears, but he gave up when William's longsword was about to strike once again.
"There's a button next to the door that reverses the gravity so you can go back up." he said quickly while pointing out the location.
"Ah, thanks!" William said with a vicious smile that caused the thief to almost soil his pants.
With William's current menacing appearance and his unpredictable behavior, the thieves started to wonder which idiot had made an enemy of this fellow.
While the Time Halt Spell was very effective at restraining the thieves, they couldn't keep it active while transporting the group. Instead, William had Carl contact Blue Moon City with his communicator.
"Mr. Yuming, is that you?" the bald Alchemist asked from the other end.
"No Sir, it's Carl. Yuming had something else to do for a few weeks, so he passed me his communicator for the time being."
"Carl? Are you that friend he brought into the Hall earlier? Do you know what time it is?"
"Yes, Sir. I'm aware, but this is important."
"I see, what is it?" the old man wasn't too bothered with Carl's intrusion, since we was only sorting out the supply closet and not doing anything important.
Carl relayed the information of the Thieves' Guild hideout to the Alchemist, who was very surprised and contacted the higher-ups immediately.
Within a few minutes, Array Master Fowley was informed, and he opened a two-way portal that sent a group of Blue Moon City guards to the location. William had already disabled the Time Halt Spell and had encased every Cultivator in Ice so they could be more easily transported.
Other than a few Ice and Fire Mages that were more resistant to William's Magic, the rest were easily handled. The ones that resisted were held in place by Carl's Magical Beasts, which were more than strong enough to take on an armless Cultivator of the same Realm.
"Thank you, Carl, and... uh... who are you?" one of the guards asked as he looked at William. While he spoke, the others fanned out inside the room and began moving the thieves through the portal.
Shit, I didn't think of a name yet...
"You can call me Serio." William replied quickly. It was a name he made on the spot meant to sound like a mix between Serious and Mystery, but he couldn't call himself Mysterio since that reminded himself too much of a comic he read as a kid.
To avoid this, William cut the mystery part completely and just decided to derive his name from the former word.
"Serio? Interesting name." the guard commented. He looked at the room full of thieves that were missing limbs, "Were you the one responsible for this?"
William nodded, "I had some help from young Carl over there."
"Amazing..." the guard trailed off. He became a bit fearful of this man, who seemingly had no qualms with removing the arms of his enemies and was completely uninjured to boot. If they weren't still alive, the guard would have considered this a slaughter rather than a fight!
Another guard walked up at that moment, "Sir, we've finished gathering the thieves, I hope you will join us at the Prison so we can issue your bounties."
William nodded and followed the guards through the portal. He remained inside the Blue Moon Prison lobby while the guards sent each thief to a different room to confirm their identities.
He was greeted by one of the higher-ups of Blue Moon City, who introduced himself as Ran Lin and had a dark beard that went down to the base of his neck, while wearing a set of blue robes with a crescent moon symbol on the left shoulder.
"Serio, was it? I'm impressed with your ability to deal with a small hideout from the Thieves' Guild on your own. Although it was just a small branch, you must possess some interesting abilities to track them down without being noticed."
William laughed awkwardly. He did his best to sound aloof and mysterious, adopting the intended character of his new identity. "I have a few tricks up my sleeve."
"Indeed, I won't ask how, but Blue Moon City is very thankful. The Thieves' Guild has always been a thorn in our side and we are glad to see some criminals brought to justice."
William nodded and remained silent.
Ran Lin bade him farewell since the situation was under control, leaving the issuance of rewards to the guard captains manning the Prison. It was their job and not his, after all.
Half an hour later, the thieves' identities were confirmed, and William was given 2.6 million Gold Coins as a reward, most of which was from the Nascent Soul Cultivator, who had a bounty of seven hundred thousand alone.
If this was transferred to Mana Stones, William would have an additional two thousand six hundred Mana Stones, which was an insane number to say the least considering he was only catching a few criminals.
With that amount of money, William could buy his own Space Element Root back from the Auction if he so wished!
Thinking of bounties reminded William that he was considered a criminal in the World now. Even the Sect Master of the Five Elements Sect and Supreme Left wanted him captured, which made him wonder just how much his head was worth.
"Excuse me, Captain..." William stared at the guard Captain's chest but didn't see a nametag.
"Phi, I am Captain Phi."
"Phi? As in Fi Fie Fo Fum?" William asked.
"What?"
"Nevermind. Captain Phi, do you have a list on hand of other bounties?"
"Looking for more cash, huh? You must be quite the bounty hunter. Yes, I'll go retrieve the list for you." the guard Captain said as he walked to the back of the room and opened up a filing cabinet with a special key in his Space Ring.
He picked up a thick binder full of bounties and handed it to William, who said his thanks and flipped through the pages.
He didn't have to look for very long, since his face was on the eleventh page of the binder.
WANTED: William (Blood Identifier Code WFES3O)
Blood Identifier Code? System, what is that?
-Request requires 3 Potential Points. Yes/No?
Confirm.
-The Blood Identifier Code is a form of unique identifier given to each Cultivator when they register with an organization and is recorded through your blood. Mages with the Blood Element invented a Spell in the last five hundred years that assigns each person a Blood Identifier Code when they first register with an organization.
-You currently have two Blood Identifier Codes, WFES3O and YHEGH5C. The second code was given to you after you changed your blood type in the Hillvire Empire.
It makes sense why I wasn't captured immediately after registering then. For a second I was scared that they always knew that Yuming was me. William sighed in relief.
He looked past the poor description that didn't truly accentuate his handsomeness, focusing in on the bounty listed at the bottom.
BOUNTY: 12,600,000 Gold Coins
Twelve... Twelve million?!?
