Chapter 165: SS-Rank Talent
William awed at the effects of the Enchanted Dual Blades. If these enchanted bonuses were additional effects on top of the basic statistics, then whichever improved Array Puppet that used these would probably be able to fight a Nascent Soul Beast by itself!
The movement speed bonus would make the Array Puppet even faster than most Nascent Soul Beasts, while the added Piercing Power and Attack Speed would turn its arms into a flurry that even a Golden Core Cultivator would struggle to follow with his eyesight!
William checked the effects of the other items he didn't recognize.
The Greater Beast Core was the exact same as a regular Beast Core, except it could only be obtained as a very rare drop from Soul Formation and above Magical Beasts.
The Mana Uraninite Ore was a radioactive ore that functioned almost the same as the Uraninite William remembered from his previous world.
The main differences were that instead of radiation, it was a form of Mana Corruption as the System called it, which would decay the holder's Mana until it couldn't be drawn upon anymore.
It was essentially a perfect counter to Mages, since covering the floor of a room with it would render their Mana Control completely useless after just a few seconds, leaving them unable to even call the Mana of the surrounding world.
The effects weren't permanent, however, so Mana Uraninite Ore was usually an item used in creating specialized chains or handcuffs for escorting dangerous prisoners with powerful Magic.
The last item in the gold box was the most interesting in William's opinion.
———
Time Dial (Mythical Item): A wristwatch allowing one to channel Time Element Mana more efficiently, greatly increasing comprehension speed and lowering the difficulty of creating new Spells.
Effects when worn:
+300% Time Element Mana Control
———
This is an amazing item! William exclaimed as he put it on immediately. He made sure the trial creator wasn't watching just in case, then called Mana of the Time Element to his fingertips, willing a random blue flower in the caverns to age.
The Mana flew much faster than before, his greater Mana Control allowing William to better manipulate the Time Spell as it covered the flower entirely. The blue flower wilted, then died in less than a second, but the Spell wasn't over yet.
A new flower budded in its place, growing into a brand-new blue flower in a matter of moments that also entered a cycle of death.
If it was a human that William targeted with this Spell, they would probably age an entire decade in just a few minutes, as long as William continued channeling Mana into the Spell.
William wanted to keep messing around with the Time Dial, but there was plenty more for him to check, so he moved on to the two silver boxes that had already been opened. Each box only contained two unique items according to the System, but the rewards did not disappoint.
-Acquired 130x Star Ore: +6500 PP
-Acquired Beast Core x20: +4000 PP
-Acquired Advanced Book of Arrays: +5 PP
-Acquired Book of Artifact Spirits: +5 PP
William looked at the pile of Star Ore that covered the remainder of the items from the silver chest in awe, opting to read the System Messages rather than sort his items and count them manually. He already had quite a few Star Ore and some Beast Cores, which made William wonder why the trial continued to give them out as a reward.
That's a lot of forging materials. Is the trial creator just trying to get rid of his garbage, or is he trying to encourage me to learn how to create my own materials in a forge?
There was even a book on Artifact Spirits, which with a cursory glance told William that he could create an Artifact Spirit of his own and imbue it into a forged item if he spent some of his Soul Power.
The rewards truly did encompass mostly forging, but William wasn't upset. He now had 163 Star Ore, meaning he could create a massive amount of Starmetal weapons if he so chose.
William dreamed of having an army of Starmetal Bow Puppets, sieging an entire nation with his overwhelming power and taking over the world. He could even enchant the Starmetal Bows if he learned how to do so, making the bows deal even more damage!
If the dragons came to wipe him out, the Starmetal Bow Puppets would become an unstoppable force, the enchanted arrows piercing through the tough scales of the dragons.
Of course, he didn't truly want to take over the world, as that would be a lot of work and he had no interest in governing a Continent, but it was still a fun idea. William couldn't hold in his excitement as his power continued to increase every day.
William stored all of the items in his Space Rings, opting to sort them out later when he felt like it. He kept the Time Dial on his wrist, along with the Luck Pendant and the Tribulation Transcendence Protective Amulet.
William now had three treasures, all quite powerful in their own regard, but nothing compared to the number of treasures that Yu Ren had used during her battle with William.
Of course, his greatest treasure of all was the System, which gave him overpowered Talents such as Attack Reflection and Forcefield.
With this thought, William checked the System Panel again for Talents to upgrade. With the bonuses from the silver boxes, William now had 42630 Potential Points, which was the most he had ever seen.
Let's do some of the smaller ones first. System, upgrade my Mana Regeneration Talent to S-Rank.
-3750 PP
———
TALENT UPGRADED
Mana Regeneration: (B --> A)
Effects: Recover 65 Mana per hour >> Recover 130 Mana per hour
Mana Regeneration: (A --> S)
Effects: Recover 130 Mana per hour >> Recover 520 Mana per hour
S-Rank Bonus Effect: Mana Regenerates twice as fast out of combat.
Next rank up: 7500PP
———
William had forgotten that the previous System upgrade said it would now include a description of the effects of the Talent when they were upgraded, meaning William no longer had to do very specific tests to figure out what had changed.
Two upgrades basically doubled my Mana Regeneration, which should be around 880 if I count the effects of the Mana Dragon's Blood Essences. Not only that, but it should be 1760 per hour while I'm not fighting!
The bonus was incredible to think about, until William realized it would still take nearly an entire day to refill his Tribulation Transcendence Protective Amulet.
Eh...Why not. System, upgrade my Mana Regeneration Again. It was an expensive upgrade, but William would always need Mana.
-7500 PP
———
TALENT UPGRADED
Mana Regeneration: (S --> SS)
Effects: Recover 520 Mana per hour >> Recover 2080 Mana per hour Experience tales at m-vl-emp _yr.
S-Rank Bonus Effect replaced with SS-Rank Bonus Effect.
SS-Rank Bonus Effect: Mana Regenerates three times as fast out of combat.
Next rank up: 15000PP
———
A double S Rank Talent is actually insane! William couldn't believe his eyes. He did the math quickly.
If I'm holding the Mana Gathering Staff and I'm out of combat, I should regenerate 5852 Mana per hour, meaning I can refill the Protective Amulet in a little more than 6 hours!
This was more than good enough for William, who currently had a maximum Mana capacity of 2100 Mana. He could refill his entire Mana reserve in less than an hour, even while in combat. As long as he wasn't using more than 48 Mana per minute, he would never run out!
