Chapter 51 Ape's Habitat
"The gate is huge..."
That's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the gate that was twice the size of my apartment. Heavily loaded machine guns hang on the walls and a full card scanner, fingerprint scanner, and face recognizer were put. Two security guards who looked like hunters were stationed on the walls for security.
The heavy security was almost terrifying. But it was also for the safety of people. The gate won't open unless you put your card, finer print, and face scan. The reason to put this is so that, not any monster can just exit from the gate.
This gate is strong enough to withstand rank C monster strike let alone these weak F or E rank monsters. The heavy machine gun can kill the monster easily and they don't use real bullets instead they have monster core and are charged. These machine guns fire magical projectiles that are as deadly as one could guess.
The hunter card scanner is there so normal people can't enter there. And also, reporters, four or three years ago when hunter card didn't exist, reporters sneak into the dungeon and shooter there. As a result, many reporters died. Even now, some reporters try to sneak, but they failed to do so.
Face scanner is so hunter and monster can be distinguished. When a monster outbreak occurs, the gate would have to make sure they differentiate between monsters and hunters, so the face scanner does the job of commanding a machine gun to fire at monsters and not at hunters.
The fingerprint scanner is there so if any monster bypasses the face scanner and dodges the magical projectile, they can't escape since they couldn't verify their fingerprint, as a result, the gate won't open for them.
With this technology, many small cities are safe even after monster outbreaks.
After confirming my identity and nodding to the soldiers for no reason, I enter the dungeon. The smell of blood came to my nose the moment I enter.
Injured hunters were drinking healing potions and some healers were healing other hunters. Other hunters were walking inside the dungeon while some were buying stuff from the shops.
Varieties of shops were stationed beside the dungeon. F or E rank dungeon outbreaks aren't considered that dangerous as the monster could be handled by local hunters.
I stand in queue for my turn to go inside the dungeon. As the queue shorten, my heartbeat increased. With shaking hands, I walked inside the portal-like thing. Circular yellow energy in which the middle or hollow part was blurry.
As I walked inside the blurry part, my surroundings blurred and a surge of headache hit me. I nearly vomited and before I realize I was standing on a rock.
The headache subdued and I could scan my environment.
As far as my vision could go, muddy ground with not a trace of life and rocks of various sizes came into my sight. The dungeon didn't look much different from a cave, the only difference was its size was huge.
As I jumped down the rocks and started walking, two apes came into my view. Their fur was brown and they packed muscle in their chest. With eyes red and beating their chest, they rushed toward me.
They were 2 meters in size, meaning they were taller and bigger than me. My heart beat faster, and I felt a little terrified.
Before they could even reach near him, I spammed electric ball skill.
Balls of electricity hovered all around me and were fired at the apes. The moment the electric ball touched them, their body was zapped with electricity. Their scream echoed in the cave.
Their body shook and their fur turned black. One by one, the five apes fell and turned into cores.
I felt relieved seeing the dead apes. My confidence increased, but I calmed down and became cautious as I know, that the more confident one is, the faster one will die.
This was written on the hunter forum "Never be overconfident"
I took the cores and put them inside my bag. I was carrying a pretty big bag. I took one core and examined it.
It was black. I felt warmth on the stone. I could suck the energy but I didn't. Once the energy is sucked from the core, the core will disappear. The core was small. It was the size of a pebble, but its edge was all zigzag.
I killed five apes and three cores were dropped. I didn't know if my luck was just great or if it is the average drop rate since I didn't check that.
Without much care, I tossed it inside my bag and continued walking.
I didn't have to walk much. After some steps, I encountered 20 apes. From a report, it was stated that a single floor contained thousands of apes, and I could tell why they state that.
It hasn't been that long since I encounter 5 apes, and I have already encountered 20.
They all charged at me, but I spammed electric ball. All of the apes were zapped and their body stiffen. They couldn't move and in just some minute, their fresh corpse disappeared and five cores dropped which I put in my backpack.
I marched down.
I was all giddy. I had to force myself to calm down. I bit my lips as I could let out a laugh. The feeling of superiority is getting me. I earned cores so easily with just a click of my finger.
I walked and walked and encountered many apes. I electrified them all and put all of the cores inside. In my tenth battle, a corpse turned into an item.
My heart leaped when I found a glove lying on the ground. This was my first item.
[Mage Glove: Decrease mana consumption by 1/3 on casting spell]
It was a good glove but it will probably be sold as I don't require it. I formed a fist and hit the air. I was so happy that I could just throw thousands of electric balls all around the cave.
But I didn't do so, there are hunters here too. I didn't encounter much but I caught a glimpse of a hunter party battling apes.
As I killed apes and had more than 200 cores, I cleared the first floor.
And like that, an unbelievable sight occurred in the dungeon. A single F-rank hunter cleared 2nd, 3rd, 4th... and the 5th.... all the way to the end of the 14th floor easily. I wasn't even that tired and only excitement was on my heart.
"YAaaaaa!"
I shouted in excitement. I couldn't control my emotion and let out a triumphant shout which no one listened to since I was alone in front of the boss's room.
I obtained more than 1000 cores and 5 items. Not a single one was useful to me, most of them were weapons. Not even a staff dropped which was disappointing.
A big door with a slightly immense aura was in front of me. I pushed the door opened and found a big ape sitting on a throne.
The room wasn't that big and only a throne was in the room.
As the ape saw me walking, it roared angrily and jumped from the throne.
It didn't waste a breath, there was no serious moment, the ape directly rush at me. I also didn't waste a breath.
A single electric ball hit the ape and it was frozen on the spot. Its fur all straighten and a terrified expression covered its face.
Five electric balls hit the great ape consecutively and the great ape's fur burnt. The stench of burnt fur drifted on my nose but I was too excited to care for it.
And in three minutes, the boss died before it could even come near me.
And as it fell, a glistering book came to my view.
"A-A...s-S-Skill book!"
My voice broke in happiness. I couldn't believe my eyes. This was my first skill book!
[Wind Blade: Create a blade of wind that can slice an enemy in half.]
I could feel the corner of my eyes flicking with an exclamation bar.
I called out my status bar and the exclamation bar disappeared.
[Allen]
[Strength: 10]
[Vitality: 10]
[Mana: ∞]
[Skill(s): (D-Electric Ball |11|). (F-Wind Blade)]
[Equipment(s): (F-Mage Glove)]
My eyes tear up when I saw another skill on my status. I felt emotional, a man who lives by doing manual labor got the chance to clear a dungeon.
This was an achievement that not many people have, defeating a dungeon on the first try is something not a single person has accomplished, or so I am sure.
The mysterious feeling in my heart that I couldn't describe in words appeared. It was great. Clearing the dungeon was fun.
As I return to the sense, I saw a green light ahead of me. The pillar of green light was a teleporter to the entrance of the dungeon or the real world.
I steeped inside the teleporter and found myself on another side of the portal. The side which I just returned was on the opposite side of the portal to which I entered the dungeon.
There wasn't any line now, probably most of them are in the dungeon or just completed their work. There are other dungeons too, so there won't be many hunters in the same place.
I looked here and there and found no one paying attention to me. I instantly walked inside the dungeon again and started over.
