Chapter 31: Yang Fa and His Daughter

"...I don't remember agreeing to become your disciple," Azmodeus muttered while putting all of the loot into his storage ring.

Yang Fa observed the shameless actions of this boy as a smile formed on his face and he asked, "So you don't wish to become my disciple?"

"...Well, I didn't say all that, but there could be a bit more of a reward. Maybe something to help your disciple reach the Qi Condensation Realm," Azmodeus replied, drool drizzling down his mouth as he inspected the inside of his storage ring.

"Hah... You truly are an interesting one, aren't you, kid? But I will give you a little extra just this once, so choose from these items."

Following the mildly humorous words of the Sect Leader, a few more things of immense value were taken out of his storage ring.

BING! BING!

Namely, they were three different pills. One was a Physique Refining Pill, the second one was a Marrow Washing Pill, and the last one was a Qi Condensation Realm Breakthrough Pill of the Lowest Quality.

Azmodeus's eyes shined a little at the loot in front of him, but he was quickly taken out of his stupor by the following words spoken by the Sect Leader:

"If you wish to have one of these pills, then you must promise me something," Yang Fa said while swiping away the enticing pills laid out on the center table.

Azmodeus became a little disappointed when they disappeared, but he still asked, "And what is it that you wish me to do for you?"

The Sect Leader's smile widened a little more at this response as he replied, "I need you to look out for my daughter for the next... Let's say... Forever. Anyhow, on that note, have you ever thought of marriage? I know it's a little early considering your age, but-"

"Hold up a second, old man! What are you talking about here??" Azmodeus interjected with a tone of disbelief.

"Well, of course, I'm trying to ask you what you think of my daughter here? You know, I don't mean to brag, but her mother is quite the looker, and I'm sure that she'll be just as gorgeous-"

"F-Father, what are you saying!?" Yang Hua interrupted the Sect Leader this time, as she covered his mouth with both of her dainty hands.

Her complexion was as red as a beat as she turned her slightly teary eyes in the direction of the young black-haired boy staring at them with a stunned look on his face.

Azmodeus watched the both of them with an utterly baffled expression, as he truly had no clue how his arena battles had turned into this...

Is this some sort of sick joke played by whatever gods are up there...?

He was beginning to think that someone was laughing at him from above as he lightly clicked his tongue before saying, "I don't wish to marry your daughter, Sect Leader. Give me another task instead."

"..." "..."

Yang Hua heard the cold words of Azmodeus as her eyes teared up even further. After which, she took her hands off her father's mouth before running away with tears streaming down her face.

"Father, you big meanie, I hate you!" She got out these begrudged words before disappearing behind a screen door that led to the rest of a large mansion.

And in her place, she left a young black-haired boy and an old man staring at the door with blank expressions.

"You know, this is the part where you're supposed to run after her before bringing her back," Yang Fa said.

"The f*ck you mean me, old man?? I just met you and her! Furthermore, she's your daughter!" Azmodeus exclaimed, a vein forming on his forehead.

"Hey, how can you say that, my dear disciple? After all I've done for you during these hard times, and this is how you repay me?"

The Yang Sect Leader's voice sounded out in a 'devastated' way, as he was betrayed by his dear disciple!

There was nothing more terrible than being betrayed by the one you thought you could rely on above all else!

"..."

With an astonished look on his face, Azmodeus watched the shamelessness of the man who ruled an entire sect.

How can one so strong and in such a high position be so utterly shameless-?

BING!

His thoughts were interrupted by the three pills that appeared earlier, once again forming from thin air.

"Go fix things with my precious daughter, and I'll give you not only a single one of these pills, but all of the pills," Yang Fa said.

"Say less," Azmodeus responded with a 'righteous' expression as he immediately got up from his seat and vanished from his spot.

And then there was one...

Yang Fa gazed in the direction in which the young boy disappeared as a slight chuckle escaped his mouth before it erupted into an intense laughing session.

After a few seconds of laughter, the Sect Leader let go of his stomach as he murmured, "He truly is the son of you both, isn't he...? Even his talent is beyond anything that the Yang Sect can hope to contain."

A reminiscent look seemed to form on his face as he recalled two figures of strength not belonging to this world.

They fell from beyond the stars one fateful day, and with them, they brought a destined child in a basket.

"I do wonder if those two are doing fine wherever they are right now...?" He asked no one in particular while staring up at the bright blue sky—a sky that seemed to hold an untold number of mysteries.

Meanwhile, in a different part of the large Yang Sect Leader's Mansion, a boy was walking through wooden corridors, looking for a young, pretty girl around his age.

It didn't take long before he caught a whiff of a light sniffling that originated from underneath a low-hanging bridge.

He took silent steps toward the bridge before he crouched down and asked, "What are you doing under here?"

"!!!" The sniffling girl was frightened by the sudden voice as she bounced away, bonking her head on a wood beam at the bottom of the bridge.

"Ow, ow, ow... It hurts...!" Yang Hua exclaimed while rolling around on the grassy ground, rubbing her head.

Azmodeus watched this go down with a small, imperceptible grin on his face as he asked, "Did that hurt, little Miss Noble?"

He was trying his best to stop a laugh from escaping his mouth, but upon seeing those puffed-out cheeks of hers, he couldn't help himself...
