Chapter 66: 8th Youngest Sister, The Shadow Slaves
.....
In spite of Lucifer's blazing narcissism, there seemed to be something looking to ruin his perfectly scheduled out plan.
That something being…
"Boy, stop in your tracks this instant!"
"Stop running so fast!"
"We can't keep up!*
"???"
Three panting assassins heaved great amounts of air as they chased behind the crimson-haired man. But no matter how fast they moved, there was simply no way in hell they were going to be able to catch up to the freakishly fast young master-
SHING! SHING!
"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"
The high-ranking Shadow Slaves were still trying to catch their breath when, all of a sudden, dozens of sword beams flashed from a crimson black sword.
FWWWHHHHH
The crisp sound of a whistle resounded in the surroundings as the three Golden Core Shadow Slaves were unable to see even the edge of the blade!
Time came to a standstill for a moment. Then, without warning, it resumed and took the lives of the three assassins along with it.
OOOM!
The residual winds from the sword beams settled down, leaving a nonchalant man standing over crimson-stained grass.
"Hmm… I do wonder why some relatively big loot bags decided to jump at me like that… Were they offering themselves on a golden platter for free?"
Lucifer was quite confused over the sudden appearance of a few gnats, but that didn't stop him from looting them of everything they had in their possession.
"Bippity Boppity, your money is now my money~"
He sang a cute little tune while tearing away at a few bloody appendages.
It was only after 'borrowing' all of their Storage Rings that Lucifer moved away from the scene, continuing to make his way toward his 8th Sister.
However, in his lack of fucks to give, he failed to notice the trembling existence of the real Shadow Assassin #56.
'Holy shit! Holy shit! What the hell sort of monster did she get killed by?? I promised her that we would be together even in death, but I just said that for the romance!'
'There is no way in hell I am actually going to run off to my death!'
Shadow Slave #56 hid behind a thick brown tree, slumping up against the side of it.
While contemplating the stupid shit that he got himself into, he promised himself never to let another woman hold a sway over his actions.
"I need to get the hell out of here and tell the Head Assassin of the true strength of this freak of nature!"
Following these frightful words, Shadow Slave #56 vanished from his spot and dashed through the sparse autumn leaves of the Great Mormonga Forest.
-
"Hmm… that bug should be gone by now, and if he can make it back to his HQ in one piece, then I should be able to acquire some bigger loot bags…"
Lucifer realized who he had killed a few seconds ago, and he also knew of the existence of the vermin hiding behind a stick. But it wasn't like he gave much Clone Essence or loot to begin with, so letting him report back was the optimal choice to make.
"Even though the Fire Nation and any similarly ranked organizations are weak as f*ck, I still have a chance for more gains while within the bounds of the Golden Core and Nascent Soul Realm."
Lucifer noticed that the gap between the Golden Core and Nascent Soul Realms was absolutely massive, so it would likely take him a few weeks to overcome the chasm.
This was to say that as long as he was in the Nascent Soul Battle Power range, the Elemental Nations still had lucrative loot to give!
One might wonder how Lord Xiao—someone in the Half-Step Nascent Soul Realm—was so respected with such a low cultivation. However, the truth was that his value came from his unparalleled assassination techniques, not direct combat power. Hence, the strongest forces of the Elemental Nations went well into the Nascent Soul Realm!
"Before I go searching for that loot with my clones, I need to talk to a little girl."
Lucifer cringed at the words he just said. Even though he was evil to the core, he was not some creep.
"Best just discard that thought and see how I can coerce this little girl to do my bidding-... That sounds even worse than what I said before…"
He facepalmed himself before moving into a gorge. Thereafter, he saw a young, icy-faced girl with long silky black hair and shiny, blue eyes.
This was Li Yan, and she would be turning 7 years old this year.
Step Step Step
Lucifer made his presence known as he slowly walked up to the cautious girl, quickly seeing her dull gaze morph into one of alertness. Then, without fare warning, she unsheathed her light blue cyan dagger and lunged at the unknown man!
"Ho?"
Lucifer mused to himself, effortlessly thwarting the advance of the jagged dagger. His foot slid to the right, and his body followed. After which, he lightly tapped on the shoulder of the scary girl.
"!!!" Li Yan shot her deadly gaze behind her, attempting to alter the trajectory of her original slash. This time, she aimed to take out his jugular, effectively looking to turn him into a messed-up lobotomy subject!
However, once again, her attack was blocked, and it was done so with untold levels of ease.
"..."
Li Yan stopped after this strike, swiftly understanding that she stood no chance against this handsome raven-haired man.
Thud!
On a moment's notice, she jumped away from the scattered leaves, running away as fast as she could!
She eventually reached a cliff with a steep overhang, and without a second thought, she jumped off the cliff!
"Are you brave or a fool?"
Before she could even make it a foot away from the edge, a large, firm hand clasped onto her dress. Realizing that she was dangling in midair, Li Yan tried to slip out of her dress and resume her suicide mission.
But once again, everything was shown to be under the control of a singular man.
With immense ease, Lucifer grabbed both of Li Yan's arms and blink-stepped away from his spot. Then, after arriving at a large boulder a few hundred meters away, he tied the girl up with some Qi strings.
Thereafter, the both of them sat on the boulder, facing one another with contrasting expressions.
"Do you still not realize who I am?"
Lucifer broke the silence with a question, eliciting the full attention of the unnervingly calm little girl.
"No… Do not know you…"
Lucifer heard Li Yan's response and couldn't help but find it a little odd.
He didn't sense any conceit in her tone, so she was definitely telling her truth. However, they had seen each other less than a couple months ago, so she should still remember who he was.
'Right?'
Lucifer found this matter a tad bit perplexing, so he decided to take out a mirror from his storage ring.
It was only after getting a good look at his appearance that he understood what was happening…
