Chapter 210: Chapter 9: Lancelot's Second Sword...
Five days later, the training had become so intense that sometimes, students would eat their meals while on a short break during training.
Both Sumika and Guinevere no longer had the time to enjoy Lancelot's training because Morgana, Rena and Nuriel were now training them secretly from the others.
"Lancelot... There seems to be a package for you."
Sebastian called out as Lancelot cleaned his bloody face in the washing basin. The training with Sebastian was now so intense he used his full power from the first moment, and each blow was deadly.
There was a long package... It seemed heavy as Sebastian tossed it towards him; the huge brown package, seeming to be a solid wood box, slammed down into the dirt, the weight and power sinking almost two inches before he approached it.
"Was there a name?"
"Ah... It said 'from a secret admirer.' Master."
Since Sebastian didn't know either, Lancelot didn't push further; instead, he reached for the strange lock that tied the golden threads that blocked the sword... only to feel a tingling sensation penetrate his palm... golden threads began to swirl inside his arm, bulging and writhing around his veins as if making a strange pact.
—Oi!? Who are you? Get out of here... Master is mine!?
The voice of Kara sounded as she shrieked but the golden threads were much like the black energy given by Caladbolg when they fused... tighter, more intertwined the gold and black became until it was part of his body...
At first, he saw a dark, corrupted blade... black with blood-red gems... his fingertips brushing the blade suddenly changed the sword... as its colours reversed rapidly.
Lancelot felt intense pain... Falling to one knee as the package opened itself, revealing a beautiful blue and silver sword... a large ruby embedded in the pommel as Lancelot gazed upon the long blue and silver blade, the colours blended like clouds in the sky... with the blue and silver pummel covered in runes and patterns.
However, Lancelot didn't understand why this felt like an object that had merged with him; the blade at first was jet black... but the moment he touched it, the beautiful silver blade returned... as if something in his blood or body purified the sword.
—Master, this sword is annoying!!! Don't cheat on me! Don't abandon me!! This sword bitch is jealous... Hmph! She is clinging to me so possessively and doesn't let go...
I want to smash her into pieces... and...
Lancelot sensed Kara's feelings... it felt more human than before, and he knew that maybe this sword triggered it, but it was cute to hear her getting so jealous and upset.
Picking up the sword... Lancelot didn't need to swing it...
Instead, his hands naturally grasped the blue hilt, feeling the warmth of the steel as his fingers grasped the sharp edges... but the sword was light... and soothing to touch; he felt like holding a silk blade. It was so gentle and easy to move.
'Wasn't the box extremely heavy...?'
——My Lord! I finally... I finally found you!
A stalwart but beautiful voice, quite obviously a female's, but the tone was like a knight meeting her lord, as the blade vibrated in his fingertips.
——This lowly blade is named Durandal, and I am honoured to meet you! The chosen one! Please use me as you see fit.
I was crafted by the gods using dragon's blood, elven essence, divine power and a fairy's heart, then bathed in dragon blood and given sentience!
Please use me! I can evolve and improve with each opponent defeated and absorb the energy from all swords... I am yours, my lord.
"Eh... why are you so cute and likeable!?"
Lancelot found Durandal cute... the way she was so devoted and kind... the golden threads inside his body no longer caused pain but gave him power... as she said... Caladbolg to Take Power... Durandal to give him power...
the two opposite swords suddenly came to his mind as Sebastian rushed over.
—Nononono! This slut is going to steal you from me! Master... Don't abandon Kara! I will do anything~
"My lord, are you alright?" Sebastian's rough voice caused Lancelot to look up and show the blade... Sebastian's eyes widened; he was familiar with this sword... but Durandal had long vanished after her last wielder died.
"How..."
His voice trembled as if seeing something like a miracle... then he placed a hand on Lancelot's shoulder, "Whoever sent this item cares for you a great deal. Make sure you never forget it... Did they send a message?"
"No... Nothing else." Lancelot shook his head; Durandal said there was no letter or anything as if crafted purely for him.
Sebastian smiled... "I see; the person who sent this likely knows you already... so there is no need."
'Who could have sent it...? Do you know Dora?'
——Might Dora be me... My Lord?
Durandal sounded excited... Lancelot didn't question more but knew whoever sent Durandal cared for him.
'Do you know who sent you?'
——Yes... It was the student of my former master... I cannot say her name as she promised me, but her hair was wild and beautiful like a raging fire, and she has nothing but your happiness and safety in her heart.
'Who was your previous master?'
——Maribeth du Lac
'Maribeth...' Lancelot muttered with an aching heart... Sebastian patted his shoulders firmly... "Come, lad... your training will not complete itself... you should not let your new toy distract you!"
Before Sebastian could pull him away, Lancelot's body vanished from the vision Sebastian, in a single moment, using all his power. He stepped behind Sebastian and slashed the old man's flank with the sword, causing a loud metallic sound and his cane blocking the blade, making Sebastian laugh.
"I knew it! You are just like her... Come!"
Sparks flew as Lancelot unleashed everything he had. Durandal resonated with his emotions; the more he swung her, the stronger and faster she moved! Her weight was the same as Caladbolg's; however, his swordsmanship became elegant and graceful.
'This is the true form of my swordsmanship...! Maribeth... Mother...!'
His attacks with Caladbolg were fierce and devastating, using her to break the guard of Sebastian, while Durandal protected and struck with light and gentle speed as both his arms flowed as fast as Morganna's.
Their attacks continued... as students and Ruvella watched from the corner of the mansion, Evaine's eyes shone with stars, but the most entranced was Ruvella... watching the blue and silver light from Durandal... a tear dripped from her eye as she called out...
"Maribeth... he's accepted your sword... It seems your disciple also fell for your son's damn charm..."
Evaine couldn't understand Ruvella's words... but smiled brightly; Lancelot's swordsmanship had finally evolved... and she wished for nothing more than his happiness as Morgana, Guinevere, and Rena watched through the crystal ball and saw Sumika and Maria watching as they were on the ground covered in wounds and bruises from their training.
'You have done well, Lancelot...' Morgana cheered him on... Rena clenched her fist tightly. "I want to fight him..." She was loud and cheering Lancelot on, her heart pounding at his display of strength. Guinevere felt joy... happy that Lancelot would become the man she saw in the future vision... a man of good, evil and balance.
**
However, one girl watched Lancelot from a distant realm; her fiery red hair danced wildly as she clapped softly... a gentle smile on her lips before the room returned to its usual atmosphere, and Lancelot and Sebastian stopped fighting, panting with sweat dripping down their skin as Durandal glowed brightly... absorbing Lancelot's sweat, blood and energy.
Durandal's colour suddenly changed slightly; she was lighter and faster... and her colour, which was blue and silver, became a deeper blue...
"So it was you... who spoilt my plans... a mere mortal, not even a king?" The red-haired woman's face seemed gentle and happy... but the moment she clapped her hands together... the entire forest around her died... drained and devoured...
of all life.
"A shame, those necromancers were all talk... Shall I ask the devils next time? And have them crush you first~ fufu... such a pretty dance, but I want to kill you so badly." Her beautiful and seductive voice carried a terrible weight as she licked her lips hungrily, wishing for Lancelot's death.
Yet... she did not realise the consequences her next actions might have...
