Chapter 77: Contract
Chapter 77: Contract
Silverfish knew he had a clear advantage over Jian in that very moment. Not only did he have informations about, but the boy was in his camp completely defenseless and without any weapons. If that wasn't enough already, the story of the fallen dragon had drawn the boy's interest.
However he seemed to have a clear idea of what he wanted to do with that dragon, and that's surprised Silverfish. The grey-haired boy only wanted to go there because the Flies wanted something from the dragon, but he was well aware of just how useless a dragon corpse was. The scales were insanely hard to get and nearly impossible for most people. Same for the teeth, or really any parts of those flying lezards.
Plus, dragons were animals not spiritual beasts. As such they didn't have the core that cultivators could draw Qi from. Not that Dragons could even use Qi, that would be terrific.
Back to the business at hand, Jian was still quite excited about this ordeal and Silverfish was hell bent on discovering why. Maybe the boy had heard about this from Biyu and she had informations that even silverfish's spies couldn't get. Considering how much of an important asset she was, it could be just that.
All in all, this was a new reason for Silverfish to accept the deal. Of course he wouldn't accept anything but good terms for his side.
"So. You have created an order. It has limited ressources for now, but it's goal is to.....Grant people's wishes, right ? Alright, so although I don't exactly see how that would work, I'm going to give my view on this....You're basically going to do whatever you want, wherever you want and you'll help those you'll want to help ? So basically we will be like...A band of wandering heroes ?" Silverfish asked. He quickly got a nod from Jian and rubbed his forehead.
'I simply can't decide myself. If this works...If this works, we will have much more freedom and the possibilities will be so numerous....But if this doesn't work....I really need an out from this contract. ' He thought before sighing heavily. He knew all too much already. Asking for an out would make it legitimate for Jian to ask even more than what he was already asking for. Silverfish was basically asking for a way to bail out if everything came crashing down, and that came with many concessions to make.
"Well, I'mma lay it down for you right now. This is awfully risky for us. And we don't have too much to gain from it. Of course we'll have a lot of freedom and as proven by Biyu, you'll let us do whatever we want as long as it doesn't go against your goals....But....You know what ? I wanna ask something before that. Taking biyu as an exemple made me wanna ask.....Why do you accept her actions ? You don't look like an evil fellow, and yet you don't give a damn about what she does. But of course, you must be aware that she kills even innocents." Silverfish asked, crossing his hands and staring at Jian like a hawk.
Jian knew this would come at some point, so he wasn't even surprised. Of course it would be weird. He allowed Biyu to kill people and would allow thos savages to do whatever they want. He could tell Silverfish that he had come to a point where he didn't really have much of a morale anymore...But he couldn't say that. Jian knew all too much at which point he was in his life. He had come to a point where he cared only about a few things and everything else could go to hell. He was perhaps turning into a monster, but he would still be saving people in the future. Plus he already told Biyu to try and change her targets. He wouldn't change his members' mindsets and habits as soon as they joined. He would first get close to them and then make sure they didn't do things that would crush the whole point of his order.
An order of wandering heroes who were actually barely controlled criminals. This was quite laughable and insanely chaotic. If it allowed him to get stronger, find chimi and then help Zhigang...He didn't care in the slightest.
" I accept it because it's her nature. She is a killer at heart, a monster even. I have slowly began to make her change her targets and she is killing less and less innocents. If you join me, I won't prevent you from doing....Morally wrong things. However I will make sure you don't do that too often and you don't target innocents. I mean, Biyu loves to kill and I don't mind if she kills other criminals or just bad people. Do you get my point ?" Jian asked.
"Oh I do get it. You basically don't care since you have defined goals and won't stop at nothing to reach them, but you still don't want us to become another group of monsters that goes around and terrorize people. As long as my guys can keep fighting, drinking and....I will refrain from mentioning the last thing....Well they won't care. And if they are good, so am I. Now that it's out of the way, let's discuss my terms. I want an out." Silverfish said in a dead serious tone.
Jian froze and slowly lifted his head to look at Silverfish in the eyes.
"You.....You want an out ? As in you want to make sure you can leave me if anything goes badly ?" Jian asked.
"Kiddo, be very careful here. These guys represent a huge asset. They are at least five hundred and all of them are at least Qi Core step 2. With the right amount of cultivation materials they could be a tremendous force. You need them, but they don't truly need you. Thread carefully." Mara suddenly said. He left Jian's body and walked toward Silverfish. He then put a finger on each side of Silverfish's head, confusing Jian.
"He can't feel me. I can make sure my body is tangible or not. Right now, my fingers are technically inside his brain. I can tell due to his brain's activity if he is lying or not. It will give you an edge in this negotiation." Mara said.
Jian silently thanked him as Silverfish chuckled.
"I know it sounds quite rude, but I cannot just throw my guys to you and be like ' Yeah, it's fine, nothing could go wrong.' I need to be sure we won't be crushed randomly. Of course, since I'm demanding quite a bit, I am willing to make some concessions. My conditions are just that we get an out and that you make a high ranking officer in your order. Can't protect my guys if I'm at the bottom right ?" Silverfish said with a little smirk.
"He doesn't appear stressed at all. He knows you will accept." Mara said.
"Hmm....An out and you want me to make a high ranking officer. That is indeed a lot." Jian said. He would've been smirking if he could, because Silverfish gave him a way to reverse the whole thing. After all, he was asking to be made a high ranking officer, not knowing Jian had already been thinking of doing just that.
And so, he could simply could act as if the second request was more of a hassle than it actually was.
And so, the negotiation war started, and it would last five hours in total. The whole time, Fang and the girl named Yu Yan remained stuck to the tent, trying to hear whatever the two children were talking about.
They only entered the tent when they heard the sound of blades clashing.
They thought the negotiation had went badly, so they panicked instantly. However what laid before their eyes once they got in wasn't a fight. The two boys were smiling intensely, Jian's crossing his halberd with Silverfish's longsword.
Before Fang could even ask what was going on, the two boys exclaimed.
" Binding Contract ! "
***********
( With Biyu )
After Zhao Shu had parted ways with his sister, Biyu and the bodyguard decided to keep following him. Simply because he wasn't taking the way home, he was heading towards a part of the city that was in complete chaos and that was also quite familiar to Biyu, but she thought it was of no importance.
As they continued to follow him, going from alley to alley, they came to a stop once Zhao shu entered a huge crowd. Those were panicked people who had been trying to run away. But Biyu didn't know what exactly they were running from. She couldn't hear anything suspiscious and she hadn't seen anything weird while following Zhao shu.
However a plume of smoke rising towards the sky caught her eyes. The citizens saw it and descended into a frenzy , Zhao Shu getting sucked in as the bodyguard lost track of him.
He was about to tell Biyu they should take some height to overlook the crowd, but he saw her running towards the plume of smoke.
That's when he heard some citizens coming from that very plume of smoke.
" Goddamnit ! They just had to go against that family ! It's going to get even messier around here. !" one of them said.
" Yeah...I can't believe that sect would go against the Su family !"
