I'm the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon

Chapter 1166: Visiting Kiawe’s House

Chapter 1166: Visiting Kiawe's House

As soon as Venusaur emerged, two thick and long vines shot out. The Palossand, thinking it could use its defensive strategy of softening against hard attacks, quickly discovered that Venusaur's vines were as tough as steel drills, piercing straight through its body. When the vines were soft, they coiled around it like rope, wrapping it tightly in an instant.

Taking advantage of the distraction while Venusaur dealt with the Palossand, Yuga use his Insight to check its data. This was the first time he had encountered a Palossand!

...

[ Palossand ]

Type: Ghost, Ground

Ability: Water Compaction

Gender: Male

Potential: Green

Level: 59

Moves: Harden, Sand Attack, Sand Tomb, Iron Defense, Hypnosis, Shadow Ball, Sandstorm, Earth Power, Sandstorm, Amnesia, Gravity, Pain Split, Curse, Scare.

...

This is a Pokémon that was almost reaching pseudo-Elite level, which explained why most trainers couldn't handle it.

Thanks to its unique racial traits, this Palossand might be even tougher than other Pokémon of the same level. The large amount of sand it had accumulated allowed it to easily absorb most attacks, giving it a very special defense.

After reading the information, Yuga became quite interested in this Palossand. With its unique ability, "Sand Gathering," he thought that training it could prove to be quite entertaining.

The Palossand's ability to suddenly grow to the size of a castle relied entirely on this "Sand Gathering" skill. Yuga thought, if he had this Palossand, wouldn't he have a portable house whenever he went out? No more roughing it outdoors?

With this thought, Yuga's eyes sparkled as he gazed at the Palossand, which shivered in the midst of battle.

Could someone be thinking about me? A fleeting thought crossed through the Palossand's mind.

"Venusaur, don't play with it anymore; finish it off quickly!"

"Bana!"

Venusaur responded energetically, and suddenly, the massive flower on its back began to glow with a golden light. The air around it became intensely hot, causing nearby tourists to step back in alarm, fearing the heat might reach them.

Boom!

A massive beam of light formed from Solar Beam shot out, piercing straight through the Palossand's body. The giant castle-like structure shrank down to just about human height, and the sand it had gathered began to rain down. The onlookers nearby found themselves covered in sand.

At the same time, Cosmoem appeared on the beach with the children using Teleport.

Just as Venusaur was preparing to unleash Solar Beam, Cosmoem had already teleported inside the Palossand, allowing it to rescue the children just in time as the beam was fired.

Watching the Palossand lying unconscious, Yuga was about to throw a Poké Ball when he noticed several sneaky individuals in the crowd also pulling out their Poké Balls.

Oh, so you want to steal my catch?

The Palossand had just demonstrated exceptional capabilities, and it was obvious to anyone that it was a valuable Pokémon, prompting many to entertain less-than-honorable intentions.

Yuga glared at each of them, making them awkwardly retract their Poké Balls as if nothing had happened.

There was nothing they could do; Yuga's strength had been clearly demonstrated just moments ago, and they didn't dare act up in front of him—doing so would certainly lead to trouble.

"Hmph!"

Yuga snorted coldly and recalled the Palossand into an empty Poké Ball. Since it was already unconscious, it didn't struggle as it was captured.

The parents of the rescued children checked them multiple times to ensure they were unharmed. Once they confirmed their safety, they rushed over to Yuga, overflowing with gratitude. Some wanted to treat him to a meal, while others offered him money. Yuga politely declined for quite some time before finally sending them on their way.

With no more drama to witness, the surrounding crowd began to disperse.

"Big brother, you're amazing!"

Once the people had left, Lana rushed over, her excitement palpable. She had wanted to talk to Yuga ever since she saw his Lapras earlier.

Yuga turned around to see Lana and smiled, saying, "You're pretty impressive too!"

When Lana said "amazing," she referred to Yuga's prowess as a trainer, while Yuga's "amazing" was in regard to her surfing skills.

Lana was lively and outgoing. Hearing Yuga's compliment, she didn't feel shy at all. Instead, she proudly declared, "Of course! I'm the best surfer on Akala Island!"

Lana's home was not in Paniola Town; it was in Konikoni City, located in the southwest of Akala Island. She had come to Paniola Town specifically to participate in a surfing competition today.

In Alola, most of the land is made up of islands, which means the distances between towns and cities are very short. Additionally, the locals love to use various riding Pokémon, making it easy to travel between different cities.

The first region to utilize riding Pokémon for public transportation was Alola.

Lana had already found out that the winner of this surfing competition would receive a Popplio, which was why she had come all the way here to compete. She had wanted a Popplio for a long time, but unfortunately, they were quite rare, and she had never managed to get one.

Thus, Lana and Yuga began to chat casually. Lana was very interested in Yuga's Lapras and wanted to exchange tips on training Water-type Pokémon.

Although Yuga didn't have any secret techniques—his only Water-type Pokémon was Lapras—he had plenty of Water-type Pokémon in his Ecopark, and he was willing to share his experiences with Lana, making their conversation quite enjoyable.

"Lana!"

While they were deep in conversation, Lana suddenly heard someone calling her name. Looking up, she saw Kiawe riding on a Charizard and waving at her.

"Kiawe!"

Lana waved back happily.

"Alola!"

"Alola!"

Once Kiawe landed his Charizard, the two of them exchanged greetings.

Then Lana introduced Yuga and Kiawe to each other.

Kiawe was Lana's classmate from Pokémon School. Besides attending classes, he also part-timed delivering goods for his family's ranch. He had just returned from a delivery.

"Lana, what brings you to Paniola Town?" Kiawe asked, as he lived in Paniola Town.

"I'm here for the surfing competition! Ta-da! Look what I just got!" With that, Lana joyfully took out a Poké Ball and released the Popplio she had just obtained.

The Popplio had a personality somewhat similar to Lana's; it was not shy at all. Not only was it unafraid of the unfamiliar Yuga and Kiawe, but it also bowed and clapped in greeting.

"By the way, Lana, since you're in Paniola Town, why don't you come over to my house?" Kiaweinvited.

The two were very close friends; Lana and her classmates from Pokémon School often visited Kiawe's ranch, and everyone loved the ice cream made from the Moomoo Milk produced there.

"Sure, sure!" Lana replied generously.

"Big brother, do you want to join us? We can have a battle at my ranch," Kiawe suggested, having thought of this idea as soon as he heard Lana introduce Yuga as a strong trainer.

"Sounds good!" Yuga agreed with a smile; he didn't have anything else to do, and it would be nice to check it out.

So, the three of them set off together toward Kiawe's ranch.

Since Lana didn't have a flying Pokémon, she shared a ride on Kiawe's Charizard. Seeing Kiawe ride his Charizard, Yuga decided to let out his own Charizard as well. Kiawe became even more excited at this, as he was a fan of Fire-type Pokémon.

"Mom! Dad! I'm back!"

Upon arriving at the ranch, Kiawe shouted before he even landed, and his parents, Rango and Sima, both looked up from their work.

Rango was Kiawe's father, and Sima was Kiawe's mother.

Kiawe's ranch was quite large. As Yuga looked down from the sky, he saw a multitude of Tauros, Miltank, Mudbray, and Mudsdale living in the ranch.

The scale of this ranch could rival that of Grandpa Milton's ranch in Goldenrod City. However, while Milton's ranch only had Miltank and Tauros, this one also featured Mudbray and Mudsdale.

This wasn't Lana's first time at the ranch; she was quite familiar with Kiawe's parents. In contrast, Yuga, as the first-time guest, received a much warmer welcome.

Yuga also met Kiawe's younger sister, Mimo. Just like in the original story, Kiawe was quite protective of his sister and couldn't wait to find her as soon as he returned.

Under the hospitality of Rango and Sima, Yuga got to try the ranch's famous ice cream, which was indeed delicious—perhaps even better than the version made by Audino.

Audino also made ice cream using Moomoo Milk and had even developed various flavors. It was tasty, but it was ultimately made following online tutorials, lacking the traditional craftsmanship that came from a family legacy.

However, the Moomoo Milk from Kiawe's ranch had a slightly different taste compared to the Moomoo Milk produced in Yuga's Ecopark; Yuga's milk had a richer flavor that lingered longer on the palate.

To thank them for their hospitality, Yuga took out a jar of Honey from his portable space bag to share with them (it was actually from the system backpack).

With the addition of Honey, the ice cream became even more delicious!

In Alola, there are many Cutiefly and Ribombee, but relative to them, Vespiquen are quite rare. Therefore, Alola essentially does not produce Honey, and the Honey used for consumption or medicinal purposes is generally imported from other regions. The pollen puffs produced by Ribombee are their main export and source of income.

However, Alola does produce a unique type of nectar derived from a special flower, which can be consumed without needing a Pokémon to refine it a second time and is even tastier than regular Honey.

This flower produces four different flavors of nectar depending on its growing location and is extremely popular.

The only downside is that the production of this nectar is quite low because the flowers that produce it are challenging to cultivate. If cultivated artificially, the flowers will bloom but not produce nectar, so it can generally only be collected in the wild.

Moreover, these flowers often grow in areas inhabited by Oricorio, and collectors may accidentally be attacked by them during the gathering process. Oricorio can switch between its four forms at will, relying on the nectar, and generally do not allow humans to touch it.

After finishing their ice cream, Rango and Sima, along with Kiawe, took Yuga on a tour of their ranch. When it came to discussing their ranch, Rango could talk for days and nights without stopping, as he was very proud of it.

When they mentioned that Kiawe had to ride his Charizard early every morning to deliver goods, Yuga curiously asked, "Why don't you use Pokémon to do this job? Like the Pidgey Express?"

The Pidgey Express has branches in various regions, so Rango's parents naturally knew about it.

"It's not that simple. The flying Pokémon here in Alola, like Toucannon, aren't suited for this job," Rango shook his head. "We don't have a way to import large quantities of flying Pokémon from other regions."

In fact, Rango had considered bringing in flying Pokémon to help with deliveries for a long time but hadn't been able to act on it due to various reasons.

Yuga thought about it and realized that Toucannon's beak was bigger than its head, making it impossible to securely hang milk on its neck. Carrying it would be even more unstable, and its claws weren't as strong as those of other flying Pokémon.

"How about I introduce you to a channel? I run a Pokémon Day Care, and while I don't have suitable flying Pokémon, my friend's Pokémon Day Care does," Yuga said after some hesitation.

Deliveries don't require Pokémon with high Pokémon, but YoYo Day Care's low Pokémon flying Pokémon had all been contracted out to smaller Pokémon Day Care, so there weren't enough to trade with Rango and his wife at the moment. However, Reggie's Blue Sky Day Care could do it.

The main Pokémon of the Blue Sky Day Care is Starly, and its final evolution, Staraptor, is one of the strongest among all bird Pokémon, making it very suitable for this work.

"Really? Wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?" Rango asked, both surprised and hesitant, as they had only just met Yuga.

Yuga smiled, "How could that be a bother? This way, it resolves your problem and also boosts my friend's business. It's a win-win!"

"That's wonderful! Let's go inside and discuss the details!" Rango exclaimed, pulling Yuga along, forgoing the ranch tour.

Watching Yuga being pulled away by his father, Kiawe said disgruntledly, "I still wanted to battle with big brother!"

Lana slapped him on the back and said, "You'll have plenty of opportunities for battles. If big brother really helps your family get a flying Pokémon, then you won't have to deliver goods every morning anymore!"

"Yeah, you're right!" Kiawe thought for a moment and found Lana's reasoning very sensible. Once he had more time, he could focus more on training his Pokémon.

Kiawe's goal was to become an Island Champion like his grandfather, so he trained very diligently and was the strongest trainer in his class.

After Yuga and Rango returned, they immediately contacted Reggie, who was far away in Sinnoh. Reggie was currently taking care of his recently evolved Vespiquen and had been wanting to reach out to Yuga to share the good news. So he was quite surprised and delighted to receive Yuga's call.

Following that, business between the two parties progressed even more smoothly.

From Reggie, Rango learned that Yuga was the owner of the YoYo Day Care. Although he lived in Alola, he had heard of the renowned YoYo Day Care, and naturally trusted the business that Yuga introduced.

There was no need to mention Reggie's side; how could he not trust the business Yuga referred to? Recently, he had been worried about the sales of his Pokémon Day Care, and this order from Yuga was just what he needed to alleviate his pressing concern.

Overall, both parties were very satisfied!
