I'm the Owner of the Pokémon Day Care In the World of Pokémon

Chapter 1155: Rewards For The Follow-up of The Event

Chapter 1155: Rewards For The Follow-up of The Event

The event jointly organized by Hoenn and Sinnoh this time is called the "Pokémon Contest Regional Promotion Project." Its goal is to spread the Pokémon Contest to more regions, allowing more people to learn about and understand them.

Currently, Pokémon Contest are most active in the Hoenn and Sinnoh regions. Johto and Kanto have also gradually embraced them in recent years, but regions like Unova, Kalos, and Alola remain largely untouched.

Promoting the Pokémon Contest is a long and challenging task.

For this event held in Verdanturf Town, many students from Trainer schools in the Unova and Kalos regions were invited to participate. This not only gives them a chance to experience the unique charm of the Pokémon Contest but also allows them to learn what a Coordinator truly is.

This event was open for students to sign up voluntarily, meaning those who came were generally interested in the Pokémon Contest. Both the Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokémon Contest organizations placed great importance on the event.

The event was to last for a month, similar to a spring camp. Top Coordinators like Robert and Aunt Johanna acted as the children's teachers, while Suzuha from the Distribution Department also participated in this event.

On the fourth day after the event officially began, Yuga handed the prepared Fomantis to Aunt Johanna, who would deliver it to Dawn, who was currently on her travels.

As in the original story, Ash, Brock, and Dawn had crossed paths as if by fate and were currently traveling together. Yuga had heard this news from Ash. Although Yuga occasionally kept in touch with Ash, he didn't communicate much with Dawn—only Clefairy and the others were frequently in contact with her.

On the fifth day of the event, Yuga received a report from the White Light Intelligence Agency. The information they had gathered overlapped significantly with what Yuga had learned from interrogating the four captured individuals, but there were also many new details. Yuga passed all of this information to Steven.

Thanks to this information, Steven's investigation proceeded smoothly, and they quickly found a series of criminal evidence against Kanda, including his money-laundering activities in collusion with Honoka's adoptive father.

Honoka's adoptive father was not only arrested, but the evolution stone mine he owned was also confiscated by the League.

Upon investigation, the League found that the mine actually contained very few evolution stones and would likely be depleted within a year or two. Honoka's adoptive father had kept operating the mine solely to help Kanda laundering the money.

The two of them had been working together for years, earning a lot of dirty money through the Pokémon from the League's breeding facility.

Luna and Honoka had gone to the training facility a few days earlier, but Honoka was dismissed and sent home after only two days. Luna, unaware of the situation, called Yuga in tears after learning of Honoka's dismissal.

Honoka's adoptive father, at least, had some sense of decency and didn't involve Honoka in his affairs. As a result, Honoka was merely dismissed from the investigation bureau and wasn't affected in any other way.

However, after Honoka returned home, likely ashamed of what she had done in Verdanturf Town, she took the initiative to cut off contact with Luna. No matter how Luna tried to reach her, she received no response. This was why Luna called Yuga, crying, thinking that something had happened to Honoka due to the shock.

The truth was that Honoka was indeed devastated. After all, after years of effort, she had finally achieved her dream of joining the Investigation Bureau, only to be suddenly dismissed. It was surely hard for her to accept this mentally.

However, according to information from the League, although Honoka was down for a while after returning home, she quickly bounced back. She registered at her hometown's mission center, choosing to follow a path similar to Harley's.

Since her adoptive father was a criminal, Honoka would face many career limitations in the future due to her status as his adopted daughter. Being a free adventuring trainer suited her better at this stage of her life.

Later, Yuga told Luna about all the things Honoka had done in Verdanturf Town during a phone call, and Luna was left dumbfounded.

Luna had already heard about Honoka's adoptive father's criminal activities after the news broke. Initially, she thought it had nothing to do with Honoka, but she never expected that Honoka had secretly done all of that behind her back.

After Kanda and Honoka's adoptive father were arrested, the Rainbow Day Care, which had been involved with them, also went bankrupt.

Not long after Yuga heard this news, Steven called him.

Before Yuga could even speak, Steven launched into his complaint, saying, "I heard you're selling an indigo potential Larvesta to Robert! That's so unfair—how could you not think of me for something so good? Don't I have more money than Robert?"

Since Robert needed to raise funds, he inevitably turned to his senior, Wallace, for help. Naturally, Wallace learned about the Larvesta, and as Wallace's closest friend, Steven quickly found out as well.

Yuga laughed and teased, "Aren't you a Steel-type trainer? Since when are you interested in Fire- and Bug-type Pokémon?"

Steven: Feeling personally attacked.

But Steven was mostly joking. Although he envied Robert for getting this opportunity, he also understood that Robert's relationship with Yuga was closer than him, and it made sense for Yuga to prioritize him.

"Alright, enough joking," Yuga said, steering the conversation away from the Larvesta topic. "Did you call just to complain about this?"

"Not exactly," Steven replied. "Have you heard about the collapse of the Rainbow Day Care?"

"I just heard about it. What's up with that?" Yuga asked, puzzled.

"It's like this..." Steven explained, "After the Rainbow Day Care went bankrupt, the League not only recovered a batch of Pokémon that had leaked from the breeding facility but also seized some other Pokémon.

"You played a major role in bringing this down, so the League wants to transfer some of the confiscated Pokémon to you, and they asked me to check with you on that."

Yuga replied enthusiastically, "Of course, I have no problem with that! That's great news!"

Although the Rainbow Day Care wasn't as prestigious as top-tier ones like the Aromatic Day Care, it was still ranked among the elite. Yuga was excited about the Pokémon that would be coming from them.

The fact that the Rainbow Day Care was being directly shut down by the League was a surprise to Yuga. Such a large Pokémon Day Care disappearing overnight was unexpected. This also showed that the number of Pokémon they had smuggled from the League's breeding facility must have been substantial, and it might even have involved other issues as well.

But Yuga didn't care about these matters; he only cared about what Pokémon the League would transfer to him.

"What kind of Pokémon does the League plan to transfer to me?" Yuga asked.

Steven replied, "The Rainbow Day Care had a wide variety of Pokémon, several species in fact. The League plans to let you choose two species from among them. What you pick is entirely up to you!"

Steven explained the League's reasons for transferring the Pokémon to Yuga: not only as a reward but also because a portion of the seized Pokémon were already abundant in the League's breeding facility.

Thinking of his system mission, Yuga asked, "Are there any Electric-type Pokémon in the batch?"

Steven thought for a moment and said, "I believe there are. I'll send you the list in a bit. Once you've made your choice, get back to me, and I'll coordinate with the League to have the Pokémon sent to you."

"Alright, I'll wait for your message."

Sure enough, not long after hanging up, Yuga received a list of available Pokémon. The list not only detailed the species he could choose from but also included specifics such as how many Pokémon there were for each species, how many were adults, how many were young, how many were male, and how many were female. Everything was clearly laid out.

Yuga counted—there were nearly twenty species of Pokémon listed. Some were numerous, while others were scarce, and there were not just one but three different Electric-type species available.

Of course, Yuga couldn't pick from just any of the twenty species. Only those circled in red were available for selection. The ones circled were species that the League's breeding facility already had in large numbers, and all three Electric-type species were among them.

However, of the three Electric-type species, Yuga already had Ampharos and Pikachu, leaving only the Electabuzz line as an option.

The Electabuzz line had the fewest numbers among the three Electric-types, with a total of less than thirty. About half of them were young Elekid, with twelve in total. Among the remaining adult Electabuzz, the males and females were evenly split, but there wasn't a single Electivire.

Yuga was sure he wanted to choose the Electabuzz line, but that left him with one more species to pick, and that's where he was torn. There were several species he was interested in.

The other available options included the Poliwag line, Machop line, Cubone line, Seedot line, Corphish line, Qwilfish line, Snubbull line, and Yanma line.

The Pokémon available for Yuga to choose from weren't particularly rare, but some of the species like Poliwag, Machop, Seedot, and Yanma caught Yuga's attention. Unfortunately, he could only pick one more.

The Poliwag line and Seedot line had the largest numbers among these options, but in terms of personal interest, Yuga leaned toward Machop.

Machop, along with its evolutions Machoke and Machamp, are practical Pokémon with solid combat abilities. They can also handle many labor-intensive tasks, making them valuable helpers for humans. Many ordinary households keep one, and on construction sites, Machop and its evolutions are the most common Pokémon used.

However, the Machop line had the smallest numbers here, with just over a dozen available—far less than what he'd get by choosing another species.

After weighing his options, Yuga finally decided to go with the Poliwag line.

Although Poliwag wasn't a rare species, its two evolutions, Poliwhirl and Poliwrath, were highly useful. The only drawback was that evolving them required either a Water Stone or a King's Rock, which was why Yuga had initially leaned toward choosing Machop instead of Poliwag.

The Poliwag line had a total of 82, including 31 young Poliwag and 51 adult Poliwhirl. Among the 51 adult Poliwhirl, there were 28 females and 23 males. There were no Poliwrath or Politoed among them.

Yuga thought that it worked out well—his Ecopark already had a Poliwrath and a Politoed. When the Poliwag and Poliwhirl arrived, they could be placed under the care of those two.

Politoed had absolute leadership over Poliwag and Poliwhirl, which would save Yuga a lot of trouble.

The Pokémon that the League was transferring to Yuga were all breeding stock and of high potential. These Pokémon had been carefully bred over the years at the Rainbow Day Care, and their genes were already quite stable. This made it more likely that their offspring would also be of high potential.

The Rainbow Day Care's years of foundation were thoroughly cleaned out by the League.

Although Yuga could only choose two types of Pokémon, he was satisfied with the quantity, so he immediately reported his selected Pokémon species to Steven.

The Pokémon were transferred to YoYo Day Care the next day, and the person in charge was the head of the breeding facility in Ever Grande City. Most of the Pokémon seized from the Rainbow Day Care were sent to the Ever Grande City breeding facility, while a smaller portion was sent to other breeding facility or exchanged with breeding facility in other regions.

Yuga sent the newly acquired Elekid and Electabuzz to the Grassland Sub-Ecopark to be managed by Luxray and the four Ampharos, while the Poliwag and Poliwhirl were sent to the Heart Lake on the Island No. 1, where they were put under the care of Poliwrath and Politoed.

While Yuga was quite pleased with his newly acquired Pokémon, far away in Meteor Falls, Luna, who was undergoing entrance training for the Investigation Bureau, was not in such good spirits. Because of what happened with Honoka, Luna hadn't been able to sleep well for several days.

Luna told herself that her years of friendship with Honoka were genuine, but she never imagined that her best friend would use her.

Due to her lack of sleep, Luna was in poor spirits, which resulted in her performance during today's training being subpar. She was called out and criticized by the instructor several times.

After training, Luna walked toward the cafeteria with her mind full of thoughts. Without Honoka by her side, she walked alone.

"Ouch!"

Because she wasn't paying attention, Luna accidentally stepped on someone's foot.

"What's your problem?! Can't you watch where you're walking?" the person she stepped on snapped angrily.

"Ah... I'm sorry, I'm really sorry!" Luna quickly lowered her head and apologized.

But it was clear that the other person wasn't ready to let her off the hook.

"Hey, Luna, now that Honoka's gone, are you planning on leaving with her too?" the person said sarcastically.

The reason for Honoka's departure from the Investigation Bureau was well-known among their colleagues who had joined around the same time.

Luna then realized that the person she had stepped on was her usual rival—Kaname Hirakawa, a former classmate from school. The two of them had never gotten along very well, they always clashing whenever they crossed paths.

"Mind your own business! You didn't deliberately place your foot under mine just to get stepped on, did you? Pathetic!"

Even though Luna had matured a lot compared to before, she still wasn't the type to endure being bullied, and she retorted without hesitation.

"Who are you calling pathetic?! Say it clearly!" Kaname Hirakawa's face darkened.

"Whoever answers is who I'm talking about!" Luna snapped back, then turned to leave.

"Luna, I've noticed you've been distracted lately. Could it be that you were involved in Honoka's uncle's incident too? You seem guilty.

"Well, it wouldn't be surprising since you and Honoka were always so close. It would make sense if you two were colluding together," Kaname Hirakawa said as Luna walked away, starting to spout nonsense.

"Hirakawa, you can't say something like that without proof. Let's just go," one of Kaname Hirakawa's friends said, trying to pull him away after hearing his wild claims.

Kaname Hirakawa shook off his friend's hand and raised an eyebrow as he looked at Luna. "Why aren't you saying anything? Did I hit the mark, and now you're feeling guilty?"

In truth, Kaname Hirakawa didn't really believe his own words. After all, they were in the Investigation Bureau, so it wasn't like they could just accuse someone without evidence. But because of the long-standing grudge between him and Luna, and because Luna's sharp tongue had provoked him, he couldn't resist saying something without thinking it through.

Hearing this, Luna suddenly stopped in her tracks. The next moment, a large and muscular Seviper appeared beside her. The Seviper's long tail lashed out and wrapped around Kaname Hirakawa, catching him off guard and binding him tightly. He struggled helplessly as he was lifted off the ground.

"Hey... hey... what are you doing?! Tell your Seviper to let me go!" Kaname Hirakawa yelled, thrashing around as he was held in the air.

Luna, with Seviper in tow, marched straight to the training grounds and tossed Kaname Hirakawa onto the ground.

"Come on, let's duel! You need to take responsibility for what you just said!" Luna declared.

Suddenly, Luna felt that having someone to vent her frustrations on wasn't such a bad thing after all.

There were still many people in the training grounds who hadn't left yet. Noticing the commotion, they gathered around to watch the show.
