Chapter 1153: The Hidden Intention Is Finally Revealed
Chapter 1153: The Hidden Intention Is Finally Revealed
After Yuga's persistent persuasion, Aunt Johanna finally agreed to let him give Dawn a gift. Once Aunt Johanna left the YoYo Day Care, Yuga began thinking about what kind of Pokémon to prepare for Dawn.
Unlike May, who was uncertain about her future path for a long time, Dawn had been determined to become a top Coordinator from a young age due to her mother's influence. Therefore, Yuga wanted to give her a Pokémon that suited her profession.
After much consideration, Yuga decided to give her a Fomantis. Both Fomantis and its evolution, Lurantis, are visually striking Pokémon with elegant moves, making them more suited for the stage than ordinary Pokémon.
Fomantis is classified as a Grass-type Pokémon and is listed in the sales catalog of YoYo Day Care. So far, only one Fomantis that has been born with blue potential, and Yuga decided to painfully part with it as a gift.
While the value of this blue potential Fomantis couldn't compare to that of the Absol or Growlithe auctioned off in Kalos, it was certainly worth more than a Lumineon.
Having made up his mind, Yuga planned to visit the Ecopark to mentally prepare the Fomantis for leaving the YoYo Day Care, ensuring it wouldn't struggle to adjust.
But as soon as he stepped into the Ecopark, he saw Sister Liepard listlessly walking out from the light gate leading to the Grassland Sub-Ecopark.
Out of concern, Yuga approached and asked, "Sister Liepard, what's wrong? You look unhappy."
Sister Liepard glanced at Yuga, sighed deeply, and left without saying a word.
Yuga: ...
At that moment, an Abra suddenly teleported to Yuga's side and, in its usual garbled speech, explained the reason behind Sister Liepard's sorrow.
This Abra was the one Yuga had traded from Harley, but it had a gossipy personality, always teleporting around the Ecopark, snooping for information like a natural-born paparazzi.
According to Abra, Sister Liepard had long been secretly in love with a Luxray, who had recently found not just one partner, but four. Sister Liepard had witnessed Luxray being affectionate with its partners and was deeply upset by the sight.
Unlike her younger sister Zoroark, who boldly pursued her love interests, Sister Liepard was too proud to take any real action despite her feelings. As a result, Luxray found his own partners, and it was now too late for her to do anything.
Curious, Yuga went to the Grassland Sub-Ecopark to check it out, only to discover that Luxray's partners were none other than the four Ampharos who had long made their home there.
All four of the Ampharos were female and had remained single until now, having no intention of mating outside their species. Now, in an unexpected twist, they had all ended up with Luxray.
Yuga was completely taken aback by how Luxray, who usually seemed so serious and upright, turned out to be quite the charmer, even more skilled than Persian, managing to get four wives at once.
Having seen how Persian had navigated a similar situation before, Yuga wasn't too surprised by Luxray's behavior. If the Ampharos sisters themselves didn't mind sharing a husband, Yuga had no desire to intervene.
It was just a pity for Sister Liepard and her unrequited love.
After watching Luxray and his partners continue flaunting their affection, Yuga turned to head toward the Flower Sea Sub-Ecopark to check on Fomantis.
Meanwhile, Sister Liepard, dejected after leaving the Ecopark, decided to wander the streets in search of her parents and sister, who were on patrol. However, instead, she ran into the loving pairs of Mightyena and Linoone, followed by the Persian and his three Delcatty wife.
She suddenly felt the world was deeply against her.
What had she done wrong? To run into all these couples flaunting their love right after having her heart broken—it was too much!
At that moment, Sister Liepard couldn't help but feel a bit envious of her carefree younger sister. At least her sister had found love—Lucario was a very devoted and single-minded partner, unlike the fickle Luxray.
Oh, how she wished she could fall in love! As Sister Liepard walked, these thoughts began to fill her mind.
She didn't even know how long she had walked before she looked around in confusion: Where did everyone go?
At that moment, Sister Liepard suddenly noticed a man sneaking into an alley. Due to her years of patrolling, her instincts kicked in, and she silently followed him.
If Yuga had been there, he would have immediately recognized the man as one of the suspicious tourists who had been eyeing the Shelgon at the Sunflora Ranch.
Sister Liepard moved so quietly that the shady man didn't realize he was being followed.
Leaping onto a rooftop to overlook the alley, Sister Liepard saw that there was already someone waiting for the shady man, pacing nervously. The person was wrapped in a heavy coat, with a hat covering their face, making it impossible for Sister Liepard to see who it was.
"Here's the stuff! Be careful, and make sure you get the job done!" The shady man handed a space backpack to the waiting person.
"I know. Now get out of here!"
Hearing this voice, Sister Liepard froze for a moment—it was Luna's friend! She couldn't see the face, but she recognized the voice.
Sister Liepard wisely chose not to confront them and stayed hidden until both of them left. Only then did she shift her body.
Suddenly, a Mismagius appeared right in front of her, startling Sister Liepard so much that she slipped and tumbled right off the roof.
This Mismagius was the one Yuga had sent to spy on Honoka. It had noticed Sister Liepard earlier but had kept itself hidden for fear of being discovered by Honoka. It hadn't expected its sudden appearance would scare Sister Liepard so badly.
Just as Sister Liepard was about to hit the ground, a fiery red blur darted out, catching her by the scruff of her neck, preventing her from being injured.
Feeling guilty, Mismagius saw that Sister Liepard was unharmed and slunk away quietly. Sister Liepard, about to shout in anger, glanced up but found no trace of the Mismagius, so she let it go with a grumble.
"Awooo?"
Are you okay?
Hearing this voice, Sister Liepard realized that her rescuer was none other than Arcanine. Compared to Arcanine's large, muscular frame, Sister Liepard now felt quite small and delicate.
Being looked at by Arcanine like that, Sister Liepard suddenly felt a little embarrassed. Even after Arcanine left, she was still a bit dazed.
In truth, Sister Liepard wasn't close to Arcanine. They lived in different Sub-Ecopark—Arcanine in the Volcano Sub-Ecopark and Sister Liepard in the Grassland Sub-Ecopark. They were barely acquaintances and had never interacted before.
As she watched Arcanine walk away, Sister Liepard suddenly thought to herself, Maybe Luxray wasn't that great after all.
Pushing aside the odd feeling in her heart, Sister Liepard continued searching for her sister and family.
Meanwhile, Yuga, having just left the Flower Sea Sub-Ecopark, learned from the two Meowstic that Giratina had returned to the Ecopark through the Reverse Mirror, so he hurried to the Haunted House Sub-Ecopark.
When Yuga arrived, he found Giratina indeed there, standing in the Ghost Sea, surrounded by a large group of Ghost-type Pokémon, including Cosmoem, who hovered nearby, occasionally letting out gleeful giggles.
Despite the crowd of Pokémon around it, Giratina didn't seem upset at all and even appeared to enjoy Cosmoem's antics.
Feeling a bit guilty about its sudden visit, Giratina decided to make up for it by quietly nurturing Cosmoem's growth with its own power while also teaching it some advanced techniques. Other Ghost-type Pokémon, such as Dusknoir, also benefited from this training.
Cosmoem had already received divine gifts from Giratina before, making it quite different from other Ultra Beasts. Its energy field now combined both the traits of Ultra Space and divinity. Kartana, another Ultra Beast, could sense this most acutely and felt that Cosmoem was developing a whole new kind of power.
When Cosmoem saw Yuga appear, it was delighted. It used Teleport to instantly appear beside him, and in the blink of an eye, teleported Yuga onto Giratina's back.
Cosmoem's use of Teleport was smooth and effortless, far surpassing that of Abra or Xatu.
Giratina didn't mind Yuga standing on its back. In fact, it even offered to take Cosmoem to the Distortion World for personal training for a while if Yuga would allow it to absorb some life energy from the Ghost Sea.
Of course, Yuga agreed immediately. Having a Legendary Pokémon, especially a Tier 1 Legendary Pokémon, as a teacher for Cosmoem—why wouldn't he? With Giratina's help, Cosmoem's growth process could be significantly shortened.
Thrilled with Yuga's permission, Giratina opened its mouth and took a deep breath, absorbing most of the life energy from the Ghost Sea in just a few seconds. The once vibrant, green waters turned into a very pale shade of green.
Yuga: ... You really only absorbed just a tiny little bit.
Since Giratina last drained the Ghost Sea, it had taken a long time for the life force to replenish, but now most of it was gone again in an instant.
The other Ghost-type Pokémon in the Haunted House Sub-Ecopark were dumbfounded as well—after all, that was their food supply!
Giratina, likely realizing it had gone too far, decided to immediately take Cosmoem and Jellicent back to the Distortion World.
Yuga wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but it seemed that after absorbing all that life force, Giratina now appeared shinier, as if it had been waxed. It looked almost like it had applied a beauty filter, with its appearance upgraded by more than a few levels.
Yuga hadn't seen Jellicent in a while and couldn't resist using his Insight skill to check on its progress.
...
[ Jellicent ]
Type: Water, Ghost
Ability: Water Absorb
Gender: Male
Potential: Blue
Level: 68
Moves: Bubble, Water Sport, Night Shade, Recover, Ominous Wind, Hydro Pump, Hex, Water Spout, Shadow Ball, Grudge, Pain Split, Trick Room, Rest, Psychic.
...
Yuga was surprised to see that Jellicent had already reached the level of a pseudo-Elite Pokémon, clearly benefiting greatly from Giratina's training. This made Yuga even more confident in entrusting Cosmoem to Giratina, and the heartache over the loss of life force in the Haunted House was significantly eased.
As Yuga was bidding farewell to Cosmoem and Giratina, Honoka, under Luna's guidance, took another tour of the new Ecopark. Yuga hadn't placed any restrictions on how many times Honoka could visit, so when she asked Luna to show her around again, Luna didn't refuse, though she did remind Honoka not to mention anything about buying Pokémon again.
What Luna didn't know was that during the tour, in places where Luna couldn't see, Honoka discreetly released several tiny electronic spiders, each no bigger than a thumbnail, into the new Ecopark.
That night, those hidden electronic spiders began to move. Silently, they crept up to two mutated Rattata and released a puff of white mist under their noses. The Rattata sneezed and then stopped moving entirely.
Meanwhile, in a hotel in Verdanturf Town, a man was operating a strange machine, the screen displaying live footage of the new Ecopark.
Under his control, the electronic spiders extended sharp needles and extracted blood from the two unconscious Rattata.
The man next to him, puzzled, asked, "Boss, why are we going through all this trouble just to steal a bit of blood? Why not just snatch the two Pokémon?"
The man glared at his subordinate. "Are you stupid? That girl Honoka just toured the place. If the Pokémon go missing right after her visit, don't you think the Gym Leader would suspect her?"
"And who do you think you are? If you really stole those two Pokémon, do you think you'd get away with it? Do you even know how many of his informants there are in this town?"
The underling was left speechless by his boss's reprimand and could only shut his mouth awkwardly.
"Now we can only hope Mr. Kanda can figure something out with this blood, or else it'll be us suffering all the consequences again," the man muttered quietly.
"Mr. Kanda can do it!" The subordinate, full of confidence, expressed his trust in Kanda.
Just as the man was manipulating the machine, preparing to have the electronic spiders that had extracted the blood leave the garden, the screen on the machine suddenly went black.
"What happened?"
"Not good, we've been discovered!"
Back in the new Ecopark, Yuga held one of the electronic spiders he had just crushed underfoot. After pondering for a moment, he said, "Perhaps I won't need to wait for information from the White Light Intelligence Agency to find out what I need to know."
With that, he turned his head toward Mismagius and said, "Take a few of your brothers and sisters and pay them a visit."
Mismagius responded with a nod before disappearing into the night.
