Chapter 44 God In The Sky
Finally arriving at the chaotic scene that swept through the city that was now embroiled in flames and bloodshed between the police and the New Order, with the New Order having complete control over the war, the SWAT arrived in full-strength.
"Move out! Move out! Hold them off until more backup arrives!" A captain of the SWAT team issued orders.
There was unseen organization to the perceived gang members, unknown to the police forces that they were under a new rule and leadership; the New Order fought together, covering each other's angles and using cover properly as well as precise aim.
This was in part thanks to Noah's ["Absolute Hypnosis"], giving them the necessary skills to combat even the most well-trained armies.
The blaze of gunfire exchanged on both fronts heated the brisk, night air, though even the elite SWAT found themselves surprisingly outgunned as the New Order soldiers utilized shrapnel grenades to get past the riot shields and armored vehicles.
"Shit–!" One of the SWAT officers said, reacting to the thrown grenade.
The shrapnel broke through the line of riot shields, allowing the New Order to push closer to the city hall. Buildings were razed by the thrown grenades as people were evacuated by police, almost as if full-well knowing that the poorly-armed city police didn't stand a stance now.
Noah laughed out, standing on the summit of the highrise building as he held his arms out, watching the glorious sparks of his world revolution begin with utmost fruition.
"This is just the beginning–say hello to your new king," Noah proclaimed, looking down towards the war torn city.
Watching the unstoppable success of his overnight army, he realized there was no result but his victory before he turned his attention away.
'I'll bring Yukio the good news,' he decided.
He placed his palm against the flat portion of the skyscraper's rooftop, creating a temporary doorway to his subspace base.
As he slipped inside of the mystical doorway, he went from the noisy gunfire and explosive city of Los Angeles and into the quiet mansion he built from his own authority. Moving over to one of the recreational rooms, he found Yukio playing games by himself, a cart-racing game called "Tony Kart 3D"--engrossed in it.
The recreational room had been decorated, mainly be Yukio's own taste in pop culture with posters of iconic games like "Mertroid Prime", a sci-fi shooting game; "Zenoblade Tales", a fantasy roleplaying game, and miscellaneous arcade machines, though it was all built by Noah's magic.
He approached, standing beside Yukio, who was sitting on a beanbag chair, "Los Angeles is about to be under our control."
Yukio glanced to the side, pausing the game, "Really? That was quick. I guess a little motivation directly to the mind and some military equipment does that."
"And a little something else," Noah added with a smirk.
"Something else?" Yukio raised an eyebrow.
Sitting down beside him, Noah slipped his hands out of the pockets of his hoodie before placing them behind his head in a leisurely position before answering.
"I decided to expedite the process," Noah said, "--A little extra firepower was given to the leaders of each gang. Call it a successful experiment."
"Noah…" Yukio sighed out, slowly shaking his head, "Are you trying to get the Sentinels on our asses already, man? Even if we gave them tanks and jets, the Sentinels wouldn't interfere–but abilities only possible from a System? They'll make their move."
"That's the plan," Noah corrected him.
"What…?" Yukio was perplexed.
Though it became clear just what sort of motivation was swirling in Noah's mind as he held a look of disdain at the mention of the 'Sentinels', squeezing his fists as veins pressed against his skin.
"I'll wipe them out–whoever comes," Noah resolved, "It won't be like last time. I've evolved from who I was."
Yukio was hesitant, but seemed to give in as he shrugged his shoulders, seeing this as an opportunity as well, though a risk, "I guess you're more of a 'short term' guy–that's fine, too. If this is how you want to do things, then let's do it. As long as it isn't Elias, I'm sure you can handle the Sentinels–but that's the thing; until we figure out the source of Elias' abilities, we need to avoid him. Got it?"
It took a moment for Noah to accept Yukio's advice as he was filled with contempt towards the Sentinels, who stood as his one and only obstacle in the path he intended to forge. Though there was no doubt that Yukio knew what he was talking about.
"Got it," Noah said before his fierce expression relaxed into a smile, picking up one of the controllers, "Anyway, how about a round or two while the New Order secures us our first victory?"
"It's your loss," Yukio joked, taking up his offer.
While the two system users played against each other in a match of Tony Kart 3D, jovial and carefree amidst the peaceful mansion, the cityscape of Los Angeles resembled the fiery pits of Hell.
There were hardly any losses on the New Order's side as they completely overwhelmed the police force present within the city, de-uniforming and taking away the weapons of any officers who surrendered.
Together, the captains of the New Order swept through city hall, which put up no resistance as the government officials hid or ran away and the guards stood down, allowing the building to be completely occupied by the gangsters-turned-soldiers.
"In the name of the New Order, Los Angeles is under new rule!" Muerto proclaimed from the highest window of city hall.
–
Noah was able to sense this triumph as he stood up from his seat, setting the controller down as he looked over at his ally, "It looks like Los Angeles is seized."
"Well, I'd suggest paying the hall a visit–show the world who they have to fear," Yukio suggested
"Great minds think alike," Noah smiled, placing his hand in front of his own face.
While Noah agreed with this notion, he used ["Object Creation"] to create an all-black mask to cover his mask and nose in order to conceal his identity, not yet wanting to reveal that "Noah Grays" was alive.
As he left through the front door of the subspace headquarters, he returned to the summit of the skyscraper, seeing the flames that gripped the city and the destruction that was left in the aftermath of the New Order's debut.
["Spatial Warp"]
In an instant, he reappeared within the center of the city's government activity: the city hall, finding himself greeted by his soldiers as they stood guard with their weapons held.
"Welcome back, Boss."
"Good to see ya', Boss."
Greeting him as he strolled through the marble halls with his hoodie and mask worn, the soldiers were beaming with triumphant feelings, high-fiving each other in the aftermath of the single-night war.
As he ascended the staircase to the mayor's office, passing by quartz pillars and american flags that he planned to soon tear down, he was greeted by the captains of his New Order army.
"Good work," Noah said, passing by them.
Muerto flexed his arms as azure flames lightly manifested from his tattoos, "Hell yeah! They didn't even know what hit 'em! The Onyx team blew straight through!"
"It's as that one says," Michael said, taking a hit from his cigar, "Their forces crumbled quickly."
As he walked into the mayor's office, claiming it for himself under the new rule of the New Order, he found a smile forming across his lips at the first establishment of his plans, making his intangible dreams into a reality.
"What now, Boss?"
Posing the question as the leader of the biker gang faction, Jax, who stood beside the other captains.
Witnessing the utter chaos that held the city so tightly with flames ascending the height of buildings and everything, knowing it was chaos that he himself controlled, Noah wanted more. A taste of power welcomed more–yearned for it.
The sight of the burning city stoked the flames of malice burning within his gut, sweeping away any hesitance as he took control of the plan fully into his own hands.
"This was just the first step–a greeting from us to the world; a proclamation of war," Noah said, facing the window as he spoke to his subordinates, "...Now, we continue. The momentum is ours, the country is shaken, and it's ripe for the taking. We'll take control of the west coast. Right now, while the world slumbers."
Nothing else had to be said; the conquest of the New Order continued without further word as the bloodshed that spawned within the borders of the country continued its malignant march.
Mere hours passed as he bestowed his soldiers with new figure: ["Absolute Vigor"]
Granting them a perpetual surge similar to an adrenaline rush, he granted the New Order newfound energy before sending them off throughout the west coast.
["Absolute Hypnosis"]
Like a malevolent god in the sky, the masked man hovered with his hands stretched out, warping the minds of those within planes as violet light emitted from him.
