Chapter 89 - A Total Mess
Chapter 89: A Total Mess
Judging from the surroundings, this three-month-old race track was not as big as they had expected. It was very desolate and was surrounded by warehouses.
The compound was divided into two areas. One was the office area and the other was the racing circuit.
The racing circuit in front of the office area was wide enough for Autocross, but it was very cramped to be used for drifting.
The track was surrounded by cement walls. There was a terrace of buildings built on the side. They were probably used as maintenance and rest areas. The buildings were all multi-storeyed, with a garage under each of the housing units above.
Not a single worker could be spotted in this entire area. Many people were idly strolling; children were running around crazily, shrieking and laughing.
If they were elsewhere, it would be fine. Such was the nature of children.
But consider where they were now!
This was a race track!
Any one of these sports cars would cost millions. With just a gentle press of the accelerator, the cars would instantly move for tens of meters. Who the f*ck was going to be responsible if anyone were to get hurt?
This kind of lackadaisical management turned all of them off.
Just as everyone was in a daze, a tall man walked out from the side of a building. He started cursing as soon as he saw Huang Xu from afar.
“Xu Zi, what the heck! What kind of lousy place did you bring us to? F*ck, I couldn’t even find toilet paper in the toilet. I had to perform a magic trick to wipe my butt clean. There wasn’t even any water in the toilet for me to wash my hands! Come, son, I dare you to smell my hands!”
The person who was approaching them seemed to have a high status. Huang Xu did not dare to further provoke him into anger. He sulked and felt wronged.
Huang Xu exclaimed, “Young Master Hang, Er Zi recommended this place. This is my first time here too. He has been singing praises about this place. I’m also annoyed upon seeing the condition of this place!”
“Where’s Er Zi?”
Irritated, Chen Yuhang turned and looked around.
“F*ck! Did that son of the b*tch leave us here and run off by himself?”
Chen Yuhang’s voice was as loud as thunder. All the racers from the club followed his voice and gathered over. Soon, more than ten cars and about 30 people gathered in the small square.
The sound of everyone complaining about the place rose to a clamor. Er Zi, who was as skinny as a monkey, forced his way into the crowd and tried to calm everyone down, pleading, “Masters, please be understanding. When I came here last time, this place seemed quite alright. Since today is a weekend, perhaps the staff is on a break?”
After saying this, Er Zi was immediately flooded by more complaints from the crowd.
Chen Yuhang was especially hot-tempered. He even went up to Er Zi and gave him a smack on the head.
“What the f*ck are you talking about? Is there even rest days at the race track?!”
“Master Hang! Of course there’s no rest day at other race tracks, but this is a public institution. Actually, this place closes at 5.30 pm. I even requested a staff member to keep the place open for us today!”
When Er Zi said this, everyone was at a loss for words.
All the locals who grew up in the Capital knew that some of these facilities, which were under the management of the government, were controlled by people of powerful backgrounds.
Suppressing their anger, everyone continued their discussion. Should they race? How should they race? Their lively chatter made the place seem like a wet market.
Was this what car racing looked like in the Capital?
Wang Yan was dumbstruck. He looked at Nawu and the others in dismay.
The difference between reality and his imagination… was too huge.
Standing a distance away, Wang Yan discovered something new after observing the situation for a while. While the club members were still busy engaging in discussion, plenty of their followers were wandering around idly.
A bunch of people who were at loose ends roamed around the race track. Whenever they spotted a good car, they would approach it and try to make friends with the car owner. They would then brag about what they knew and touch the car. If any of the car owners allowed others to sit in their car to take pictures, their car would instantly be swarmed by the onlookers.
Some of the followers even distributed advertising flyers in the compound. Could you believe it?
They had only been here for a short while and Nawu and Fu Yushi had each received two business cards.
“Ma’am, I noticed that your skin looks dull…”
Wait, no.
“Ma’am, I noticed that you have an exceptional body shape. Have you considered joining the entertainment industry?”
That was pretty much the intention of others approaching Nawu and Fu Yushi.
The girls sitting in the sports cars would not face such trouble. However, there were only a few sports cars here today.
There were all kinds of other cars here though – Focus RS, BMW M2, M4, Chevrolet Camaro, Volkswagen Golf R. Of course, a modified Honda Civic, the best car to be used for modifying, had to be here too.
Lin Weiwei’s Audi A4L was an odd one among all the weird car models. Emm, her car looked exceptionally pretty among the rest.
In short, this was a hodgepodge, a carnival for car-racing amateurs.
Wang Yan was extremely disappointed. He shook his head, sighed, and quietly sat in the front passenger seat of the A4.
A moment later, the sound of car door closing sounded thrice. Lin Weiwei and the other two girls also got into the car.
“What the hell! I thought it would be fun, but is this it?”
“Lin Pingzhi, you owe me a good nail care session!”
Lin Weiwei had basically given up hope on this hangout, but she still tried to patch things up by saying, “There are six or seven sports cars around, right? It’s normal to have some people tag along with their friends and come here to join in the fun!”
To be honest, the six sports cars looked incongruous among the other cars.
Look. There were two sedans, which were more suitable for grocery shopping than car racing, surrounding a Radical. Huh? What the heck was that tall and bulky thing? A van cosplaying as a sports car?
Wang Yan felt a little annoyed. His gaze turned very philosophical and profound.
Lin Weiwei and the other two girls had been bickering for a long while when they noticed Wang Yan had not said anything. Lin Weiwei asked, “Wang Wang, what’s wrong with you? If there’s anything you want to say, speak your mind.”
Wang Yan had indeed gained some insights from the experience today. He smiled and lamented, “Is it true that all social circles are like this? It looks grand and elite from the outside, yet when you really come in contact with the people, you find a total mess inside.”
“Woah! Wang Wang’s inference is so on point!” exclaimed Nawu while laughing.
Lin Weiwei also gave up trying to act tough in front of them. She explained with a wry smile, “It can only be said that Huang Xu’s social circle is not exclusive. Young masters in the Capital will usually bring along a bunch of followers wherever they go. Otherwise, how else can they flaunt their wealth and status? Even in a top class sports car club, a 918 will usually be accompanied by two 911s. It’s the same logic.”
Wang Yan nodded in agreement. Then, just as he was about to speak, he heard a quarrel outside.
“Huh? What the heck? It sounds like Huang Xu’s voice.”
Lin Weiwei’s brows furrowed and she hurriedly got out of the car. “I’ll go take a look. Don’t move. ”
Wang Yan, Nawu and Fu Yushi, who were in the car, noticed that the group of young masters was bustling with noise. After a while, Lin Weiwei and Huang Xu left the group and stood in front of his 911, arguing about something.
“Let’s go and take a look,” Wang Yan suggested while being the first to push the door open and get out of the car.
He was here on a mission: to take care of the girls. He couldn’t let Lin Weiwei face trouble on her own.
As soon as he went near the two of them, he heard Huang Xu shouting angrily, “No! I’ve to join the race today!”
Before Wang Yan could figure out what was going on, Chen Yuhang walked over and said in an irritated tone, “Xu Zi, the few of us will be racing in the first round. After that, it’s free and easy. Are you okay with that?”
“Sure thing, Master Hang!” Huang Xu promised.
Huang Xu turned around and chased Lin Weiwei away, saying, “Weiwei, go to rest for a while. After we finish racing, you guys can also try out the track. The difficulty of this track is quite low.”
Then, he raised his voice and shouted at Er Zi, “Er Zi, let me borrow your girl for a while. I need a passenger ride!”
As soon as Huang Xu said this, Lin Weiwei flung the door of his 911 open angrily and chastised him impatiently, “Don’t make things difficult for others. This is no big deal. I’ll be your passenger ride!”
F*ck!
What was going on?
Lin Weiwei had already fastened her seatbelt before Wang Yan and Fushi could react to what was happening.
This turn of events was so unexpected!
“Why are you getting involved in this? Get out of the car!” Wang Yan frowned and pulled on the car door, not letting Lin Weiwei shut it.
“Wang Wang, I have to keep an eye on Huang Xu. No matter how much I dislike him, he’s my brother’s childhood friend after all. I can’t sit out of it when he is involved in trouble,” Lin Weiwei explained in a very serious manner. Her reasoning was grounded.
Wanting to comfort Wang Yan and the girls, she added, “Wang Wang, don’t worry. Their normal speed on the track is around 80 to 90. They’re just a bunch of amateurs. It’s very safe.”
Since it had come to this, in addition to Lin Weiwei’s calm attitude, Wang Yan had no reason to stop her. She was such a loyal person. How could he possibly talk her out of this?
Wang Yan was just about to remind Lin Weiwei about safety when Chen Yuhang turned around and saw him holding the car door open. Chen Yuhang immediately burst into profanity.
“Son of the b*tch, where did you come from? F*ck off!”
