Chapter 46 - Selling Illegal Salt?!
Chapter 46: Selling Illegal Salt?!
Lorne patted his own thigh after he heard Kyle defend the decision-maker officials.
“I think we shouldn’t talk about this matter right now. where I go will ultimately depend on the palace’s decision. I’m just thinking about it in my mind for fun.
“Anyway, I don’t think the Ministry of Education that he mentioned is good enough. I even told him why it’s not good enough.”
Kyle nodded slightly. He had basically figured out the whole story.
“So, Vincent is still dragging you along with this idea, huh? He wants you to tell him how to solve the defects and shortcomings in the Ministry of Education?”
Lorne patted Kyle’s shoulder.
“You guys are truly close. You know each other so well. He dragged me along to tell him a few measures to reform the Ministry of Education.
“If it were up to me, it would be useless even if he knew. The high officials in the palace who can really make these decisions are not people he can come into close contact with.”
When Kyle heard this, the puzzle pieces in his mind finally formed a whole picture. As expected, Rosen had really learned how to reform the system from this place.
When he went back, he would drag Rosen to stand in front of him as a punishment. He would teach him a lesson for poaching people behind his back and snatching people away from him, the King of Lolan!
…
At this moment, Rosen, who was resting at home, could not help but sneeze.
At the same time, cold sweat seemed to form down his back, it was as though someone was scolding him behind his back.
“Strange, who is talking about me behind my back at this hour? Could it be the king?”
Rosen could not help but shiver and quickly threw out the thoughts in his mind.
…
On the other hand, Lorne did not know what his old friend was thinking. He just continued to speak on his own.
“If you ask me, you guys are all freaks. You old people only like to think about every serious matter that’s going on every day.
“One for you and one for your friend. I won’t even mention Warren’s personality. All of you have seriously nothing better to do.
“Other merchants are thinking about how to make a lot of money every day. The few of you, on the other hand, want to understand the important matters of the palace every day and share the worries of the palace.
“What kind of business do you do? Are you all crooks?”
Kyle only thought about it for a short while in his mind, and Lorne’s train of thought had already reached a different destination.
Now, he began to doubt whether Kyle and the others were decent people.
Kyle did not know whether to laugh or cry as he reassured the tavern boss, “Boss, you really are a little paranoid. We are the citizens of the Lolan Empire who abide by the law.
“Didn’t I tell you before? We are all in the medicinal herbs business. The reason why we are so interested in these matters within and outside the palace is simply to kill time our free time. It can also be considered as making up for the regret of not being able to become an official and only being able to go into the business industry.”
Lorne looked at Kyle suspiciously.
“Old friend I’m telling you, you can’t do business that isn’t proper to be rich. If you really want to make a fortune, you might as well work with me.
“I happen to have a business that could make a fortune on my hands right now. I guarantee that it will be countless times more profitable than you doing some random medicinal herbs business.
“If this business is done well, a small medicinal herbs merchant like you would probably become just as worth as the richest man that stands.”
Kyle’s attention was instantly attracted by Lorne’s words.
“Boss, what kind of business is as profitable as you say?
“If it could really make a fortune, someone must have already thought about it. There wouldn’t be anything for us to do.
“Could it be that you’re referring to brewing high-quality wine and using it to sell to the entire Lolan City and even the Central Region?”
To be fair, if Lorne was referring to the brewing business, Kyle was not very interested. After all, the most important thing in wine-making was to open up a market and expand the market share.
Although Lorne’s high-alcohol liquor had a pure taste, full strength, and excellent quality, it was still too strong. Not everyone could withstand the aftershocks brought about by high-alcohol liquor.
Therefore, it would not be simple to promote such a drink and would take too long of a time.
As a King, Kyle had too many things to deal with and analyze. He was always busy reviewing the government affairs every day.
He did not have the energy to participate in such a small matter as selling liquor. Moreover, the pure profit of the business of liquor-making and sales would not be too big. At the very least, it would take who knows how many years for him to earn a huge amount of money.
As a king, although the royal family’s treasury did not have much money left after building another palace with his own money, it was still not enough to garner his attention in joining the business.
Therefore, Kyle was not interested.
However, what he did not expect was that Lorne shook his head in denial.
“I’m not talking about the wine-making business. If it was just the wine-making business, how would I be able to match the full wealth of a small medicinal herbs merchant like you with just a single order?
“I originally only wanted to drink these high-grade spirits for myself and entertain you. As for whether I can earn money or not, it’s just a side issue for me to think about.
“Those who can really make a fortune and earn a lot of money think outside of the box.”
As he spoke, Lorne stood up and walked to the table that he sat at earlier. He used his hand to hold a white powdered crystal.
Kyle could not help but exclaim in surprise when he saw Lorne grab the specks of white crystal with his hand.
“Salt?”
Lorne nodded.
“That’s right. This is exactly what everyone in the world must use every day. The piece in my hand is the most ordinary piece of coarse salt.”
However, Kyle was not as surprised or confused as Lorne had expected. Instead, he immediately stood up and walked quickly to the door of the tavern. After he made sure that no one would enter the shop in the next second, Kyle hurriedly ran back.
Kyle pulled Lorne and walked inside. Then, he lowered his volume, but his tone was urgent and determined. “Boss, do you want to die? Do you actually want to get involved in the private salt business?
“Salt iron is exclusively sold by the palace. Once the court finds out that you’re selling private salt, at the very least, your family belongings will be confiscated and you’ll get exiled to 3,000 miles away. The worst-case scenario is that you’ll be beheaded and shown to the public!
“It’s fine if those desperados don’t care about their life to do this, but for a young man like you who has a promising future, why do you have to do such a ruthless business of selling private salt?
“You just advised me not to do those improper things, but why do you have such evil ideas yourself? If you really lack money to spend, tell me. I will subsidize you. When you become a high-ranking official, you can slowly repay me later.”
In Kyle’s opinion, earning a lot of money and gaining wealth through selling illegal salt was not the path that he wanted Lorne to venture down into..
