I’ll Become a Villainess That Will Go Down in History

Chapter 407

Liz Cather (Age: 20)

“Oh, Liz? Welcome back! “

Back in town, as soon as I opened the door to my parents’ house, my mom’s face lit up, and she rushed down to me.

I could smell the sweet cinnamon scent that I love so much.

Seeing my mother’s face made me feel at ease. But I couldn’t reveal everything to her anymore, could I? I couldn’t let her worry about me.

I knew that both the Magic Academy and the Royal Palace were going through a difficult time. This was no time for me to be carefree and go back to my parents’ house. Even so, I wanted just one day to calm my mind.

Otherwise, I would be ruined. A saint was not allowed to show her dark side.

Once I stepped out of this place, I would have to live as a saint. Sometimes I felt crushed by this pressure. I would never be just a baker’s daughter again, but just for today, I wanted to escape from my role as a “Saint”.

After hugging me tightly, my mother tilted her head and looked at me with worry filled eyes.

“Is something wrong?”

“No, nothing! I just wanted to eat some of the bread made by you for the first time in a long time! “

I lied with a big smile to my mother, who knew nothing about it.

I would soon be graduating from the Magic Academy. As a saint, I would have less freedom than I currently do.

I wanted to see my mother’s face before that. I wanted to return to this place where I could be just her little girl once again.

In this place, I could go back to being a normal girl. I could give up my title as a saint just for today.

With these thoughts in my mind, I walked into the familiar and comfortable house.

“The bread will be baking soon! “

She hummed happily as she took light steps toward the kitchen.

I couldn’t believe how happy she was that I was home…

“Daddy should be home in a few more minutes~! He’s gone to buy the ingredients to make me a raspberry pie! I’m sure he will be delighted when he finds out that Liz has come home.”

I heard my mother’s loud voice coming from the kitchen.

I couldn’t help but smile at her words. I realized that I had grown up surrounded by love and comfort.

When I was a little girl, I thought I could just stay in this warm house forever….

I was so happy to have met Duke and everyone, and that was my greatest happiness and irreplaceable treasure. I would never change that until I die.

But then I thought to myself, “If I were a girl with no abilities, what would I do?”.

I couldn’t say this in front of everyone, but I was happy to be “normal”. Ordinary people long to be special, while geniuses long to have nothing.

Don’t be like this, Liz!

I couldn’t stay in this depression! I came back here to cheer myself up!

“I’m off to my room~! “

“Oh, Liz’s room right now is…! “

I didn’t hear what my mom said. I ran to my room.

When I opened the door with a clunk, I found myself in a room I didn’t know existed.

No longer a little girl’s room, no longer a bed with my flower-patterned bedding, no longer a light pink desk. It was a little boy’s playroom.

A small, cute little boy with brown hair came into my view.

…A little brother was not there when I was still living here.

“Liz!!! Sorry! I forgot to explain! “

Mother rushed over to me. I froze, not understanding the situation, my eyes still locked on the little boy.

Mother walked into the room and picked up the little boy in her arms. The boy was hugging his little stuffed bear tightly.

When I was little, I used to love stuffed bunnies.

Thinking about this, I waited for the words to come out of my Mother’s mouth.

“This little boy is Max. I’m sorry I didn’t tell Liz about this because I know that you were probably busy, so I was waiting for a good time to tell you. I also missed the timing because of my busy schedule.”

Mother explained apologetically and somewhat impatiently.

Please don’t give me that look. I wouldn’t be angry about it…. In fact, I was happy to have a little brother.

“Max is our family, even though we are not blood related.”

…But when my mother gave me such a happy look, it made me feel a little complicated.

Seeing him so familiar with this place made me feel as if I had lost my place without my knowledge.

“I took him in when he was a baby, and Max will be three years old this year. I’ve been talking to him about Liz, and about how special you are, and how mom and dad have missed you so much since you suddenly enrolled at the magic academy… Liz will always be a precious daughter to us, and we will always be grateful to have you here. But I can’t stand the thought that she will never come back…”

I understood what Mother was trying to say. I knew it in my head.

I was at a loss for words, but my Mother added more.

“Since I adopted Max, I feel a little safer. I mean, this bakery is pretty popular in town, right? So, with him, I can continue to run this bakery.”

I was a little annoyed at my Mother, who looked at Max with happiness as she spoke.

I shouldn’t have these feelings….

As a saint, I should never reject him. I should not let my parents know about the dark side of me.

For about five years, I did not come back here. I hardly contacted them.

That was why I had to accept this situation. I should accept my brother with a smile full of joy.

“Surely, we need an heir son to keep this bakery going! And I’m pleased to have such a lovely little brother too! “

I cheerfully exclaimed. I quietly approached Max and introduced myself.

“I’m Liz. I’m your big sister. Nice to meet you, Max.”

I wondered if I was smiling beautifully in those innocent eyes….

As I held Max’s small hand gently, I realized that I no longer belonged in this house.
