Chapter 18
‘I can hear the reason from him later.’
Though Yelena was curious, it was not of utmost importance right now.
What was most important to her was her mission.
The mission about that appalling future which only she knew about, and had to change.
‘…Am I the only one who knows about the future?’
Yelena’s hand stopped while she was choosing a book from the desk.
That would be a given.
If others saw that future, they must be scrambling to want to have Duke Mayhard’s child.
‘But on the contrary, Mielle calmly said that Duke Mayhard’s disease might spread to me if I slept with him. It’s unbelievable, who would go around spreading such rumors at all?’
Is that a venereal disease? Huh? Is that not a curse but a venereal disease?!
Yelena grumbled to herself while looking through the desk.
Anyway, Yelena had decided to attack Duke Mayhard instead.
She had no other choice.
It was something they would naturally have to do, but since he would not do it, it was only natural for her to make a move.
‘I can do it. I’ve tried once anyway. Once in a drunken state, and the other when I’m sober. That’s it.’
Though there was a considerable difference, Yelena tried her best to overlook them.
However, Yelena did not want to pounce on him without any plans.
If she did, it was evident that the same thing would happen again.
Yelena recalled last night’s event when she tried to take off Duke Mayhard’s clothes without knowing any better and ended up getting rolled up in the blanket.
“…”
Of course, she did that under alcohol influence and did not act with concrete plans, but now it was evident that jumping in without any strategy would reap similar results.
Yelena knew what problem she had.
Which was the lack of knowledge.
Yelena lacked knowledge more than any other area.
‘Yeah, I should know more about it before making my move.’
I should first equip myself with the knowledge…
And then the techniques.
Those two aspects must go hand in hand so that she could successfully get what she wants.
Thus, this was the reason why Yelena was looking in the library.
Books are filled with information and theories.
No matter information or technique, the library was a place where she could find both.
Just then, a book had caught Yelena’s eyes.
<Everything About Couples>
It was classified as an educational book.
Yelena took the book with a grim face.
She turned over the book cover, and checked the table of contents first, and gulped.
This was it.
She found it.
Yelena quickly glanced around her surroundings.
There was no one else in the library but her.
Usually, there was a resident librarian around, but Yelena had given instructions that she wanted to be alone.
‘Great.’
Yelena stopped her excited hands and flipped the first page of the book.
The next day.
Yelena returned to her room, looking haggard after getting holed up in the library for a whole day.
“Oh my, Madam!”
The maid who was cleaning up the empty bedroom was shocked to see Yelena’s face.
Yelena could not care if her maid was shocked.
Her mind was filled with other thoughts.
‘It was overwhelming.’
Yelena spent the whole night reading five books at once.
Educational books were not just for education by name.
Books are the truest and best teachers anyone could have.
Yelena was enlightened and saw a whole new world in her eyes.
It was truly astounding.
“Will you be washing up?” The maid asked while stealing a side glance at Yelena’s haggard face.
Yelena nodded.
“I should have a bath. Prepare bath bombs that will help relieve fatigue.”
“Yes, Madam.”
The courteous maid took her leave.
Yelena waited for her bath water to be prepared with her fatigued face.
Yelena’s mind was still in a daze even after she had her bath.
‘Ah… I probably shouldn’t have stayed up the whole night.’
She probably should have slept a while more.
But she could not do so when she was so engrossed in her excellent teachers’ teachings, the books.
“I have no regrets.”
But having no regrets was different from lacking sleep as Yelena kept dozing off.
When lunch went past and came in the afternoon, Yelena banged her head on the table to wake herself up.
“Madam, are you alright?”
“I’m fine.”
“Should I get you more tea to wake you up?”
“No. I’ll call you again if I need you.”
“Yes, Madam.”
