Chapter 33: IBMLS Ch.33 Awaken (1)
Awaken
- I’m your sister-in-law, are you just going to disregard our relationship?
Mu Mingtang only realized when she got up the next day that she still didn’t have a dressing table.
Sure enough, she couldn’t count on Jiang’s servants. The two maids were dowry servants but in reality, they were actually just spies to watch over her every move. However, after arriving at the Qiyang Palace, Mu Mingtang couldn’t leave the place at all, and the two maids didn’t dare to enter. The two of them accepted Mrs. Jiang’s money and they didn’t have to serve Mu Mingtang. How could she expect them to be obedient?
Mu Mingtang sighed as she casually tied her hair into a bun. Her wedding wasn’t true to its name. Everything was so casually done. Afterwards, all the rituals, such as visiting her uncle and praying at the family temple, were of course skipped. It was also a good thing they skipped all of this, as she couldn’t bear to let anyone see her in this current state.
But Mu Mingtang didn’t plan to go on like this forever, no matter what situation she was put in, she’ll be the one living her life. Others can trap her, if she was also unkempt and lived her life aimlessly, then she was really locked away.
Mu Mingtang tidied her hair, and the first thing after that was to go to the prince’s room to greet Xie Xuanchen: “Prince, good morning.”
If she didn’t have anyone to talk to for a long period of time, she’ll fall sick sooner or later. Mu Mingtang had no choice but to treat Xie Xuanchen as a normal person, she’ll greet him in the morning and evening and also tell him about today’s menu. After Mu Mingtang wiped Xie Xuanchen’s face and applied his daily medicine, the person who delivered meals came. They were very particular about breakfasts here in the manor, Mingtang ate lots of beautifully made dim sum until she couldn’t eat any more, then she put away the food box and walked out.
She had to find a way to head out today, at least to find a mirror for herself.
Sure enough, she was stopped by the chief guard at the door. Mu Mingtang knew what to do and wasn’t afraid of him at all. She even dared to bargain with him: “My lord, I know you’ve been given orders, to not let me leave. But I’m not going to leave the manor, I’m planning to just go to Qing Xin Hall to look for my dowry. Although the main hall of the manor is fully equipped with everything, there hasn’t been a female host here before, and there isn’t a dressing table. Also, all of my clothes and jewelry are in there. You can’t let me live on with only this set of clothes forever, right?”
Mu Mingtang couldn’t find women’s clothings for herself yesterday, so she could only continue to wear her wedding outfit. Obviously she can’t keep wearing this, no matter what, she needed to get her dowry.
Not only that, she also had to fight for the right to pass freely between Qing Xin Hall and Yu Lin Hall.
The chief guard was made speechless by Mu Mingtang, and their duty was to look out for The Prince of Qiyang, not the princess. Mu Mingtang was only going to head out for a while, as long as she didn’t leave the manor, it didn’t seem to matter.
The chief guard was lenient on this and sent two soldiers to follow Mu Mingtang, so that she could move her dowry back.
Mu Mingtang looked at the two guards behind her, and thought to herself, they weren’t here to help her, but to watch over her, he was worried that she would run away. Anyway, Mu Mingtang didn’t intend to escape, she didn’t care about the spies behind her at all, and instead she commanded the two soldiers very confidently.
She might as well utilize these strong men, why should she be courteous with them?
Mu Mingtang was once poor, so she values
money more than her life, she had kept the dowry list long ago, and she even carried the keys with her. It was absolutely impossible for the dowry servants to bully her and steal her dowry. This would never happen to her.
Mu Mingtang has always had a good memory in terms of money, and she found the dressing table very quickly. Mu Mingtang’s original plan was to choose a small and compact sized one, otherwise it wouldn’t fit in her room. However, in order to hold up to the Jiang family’s reputation, the furniture prepared were all very prominent, the dressing table in the dowry had to also be big in size.
