Chapter 52 Back To The Gym
52 Back To The Gym
After Dave fiercely cooked for around another half hour, the food was finally finished. It was good timing because Kaden didn't know how much more his body could take. At first, when he entered the room he was only slightly hungry and planned to have a small breakfast as usual but the more that Dave's cooking radiated throughout the apartment the more he want to eat it and the more he wanted to consume.
Dave walked over to the kitchen table that Kaden had been waiting at with two plates in his hands each having eggs, pancakes, bacon, hashbrowns, and a cup of orange juice place on the top corner of the plate, "Here you go Kaden." Dave said as he placed the plate in front of a drooling Kaden.
Kaden whispered his thanks before wasting no more time and digging into the lovely smelling food that had been teasing him for over half an hour. It all went down the hatch in a blur of juice and food and before he even realized it all of the food that was just in front of him was gone. While he was a little sad that it was all gone he was in too much of a bliss-like state from the food he just ate to care very much.
"That was heavenly. Thank you." Kaden said with a sigh as he leaned back in his chair with a satisfied expression.
"My pleasure!" Dave said as he picked up the dirty dishes and began cleaning them in the sink in the kitchen. Kaden saw this and tried to go and help but Dave just shrugged him off saying that from now on he was in Kaden's service which was nice.
After the cleaning was done and Kaden was ready he left with Dave to go to the gym again. Tomorrow was the first day of ability school and he wanted to make sure that he got in as much training as he possibly could while also deepening his relationship with his new member.
As Kaden and Dave exited the house they were met with someone that Kaden still wanted to avoid and still didn't have the patience to deal with quite yet, Ashly.
"Oh- Hey there Kaden." Ashly said awkwardly as if this was just a coincidence and not that they were still right in front of his apartment.
Kaden felt negative feelings as he looked at Ashly longer and remembered all of those things he went through the other night which Dave could somehow feel from his expression so he stepped in quickly, "Sorry is there something you need from him?" Dave asked her with a smile.
Ashly finally recognized that there was another person with Kaden and looked at him with a strange expression, "Who are you?" She asked with squinted eyes.
Dave seemed to be in thought for a moment when she asked this wondering what exactly they should say he is to Kaden but he decided on it quickly enough that it wouldn't arouse any suspicion, "I'm his new roommate!" Dave said with a smile.
Ashly had an obviously confused expression on her face, "A roommate? Why would Kaden get something like that?" She said turning her gaze towards Kaden waiting for an answer but Dave beat him to the punch.
"I was actually homeless a few days ago but Kaden kindly took me in. As long as I do a few things for him and act as his bodyguard I will be able to stay there." Dave explained quickly.
Ashly had a suspicious look on her face as she looked Dave over but couldn't say anything for certain, "If that's the case then why isn't Kaden answering me himself?" She wondered aloud.
This time Kaden did answer her question because when she asked this it was as if all the things that happened the other day meant nothing and he was just meant to accept such things with open arms, "The reason is that I would prefer not associating with you now. Don't pretend that what happened the other day didn't happen." Kaden said with slight anger visible in his voice.
"So that's how it is-" Ashly said with a guilty expression before not questioning them any further and going back to her apartment.
Kaden would have normally felt some sort of sympathy for people when he treated them like that or said something in that way to them but with Ashly, he felt no such thing. If he had seen her try to restrain herself or even ask him for help like he said before then he might have shown some sympathy but no she just put him through that torture that he couldn't remember. There was no sympathy that she would get from him.
Dave saw how cold Kaden was to the girl and assumed something major must have happened for him to act that way since he himself had tried to kill one of his teachers the night before and instead of being cold he gave him his own bed to sleep in. Dave didn't question it any further as he thought it was none of his business until Kaden said so.
The pair made their way to the gym without any more complications and entered inside to find that they were the last ones to arrive much to the surprise of Kaden.
The only problem was that the people were not waiting in the ring like they were instructed to do the day before. Instead, the people were at the counter where the shakes were in a complete frenzy. People had crazed looks in their eyes and even some were shaking and wrapping their arms around themselves as if it was cold or something. As usual, the people that were regulars here paid no mind to the currently freaking out newbies but instead continued with their workouts and lessons.
"What is happening?" Dave said confused as he looked at the crazed look on all the peoples faces.
