Chapter 95: The Fall of Camelot

The soldiers roamed the streets, gathering civilians into nearby buildings. They had managed to gather a reasonable number of people, but soldiers and knights still patrolled the streets, tense with the knowledge that the Red Wings would attack soon. The sun had begun to rise, casting a pale light over the city. Everyone was on edge.

The civilians, though, seemed less worried. Their knights were with them—all 11, excluding Persephone. They believed in their protection. But like predators, the Red Wings had already begun to stalk their prey. They moved swiftly, silently across the rooftops, their eyes fixed on the civilians.

Gwin, a Roundtable knight, spotted one of them first. Her eyes widened.

"The Red Wings are here!" she shouted, her spear materializing in her hand in a flash of light.

The knights turned in unison, eyes locking onto the rooftops where the Red Wings had taken position.

"They've arrived! Inform the King!" The knights shouted, gripping their weapons.

But then—something none of them could have predicted.

One by one, the Red Wings leaped from the rooftops. As they descended, their bodies began to glow with energy. And as they touched the ground, they didn't land in their human form—they had taken on the shape of massive titans, towering over the knights at 17 feet tall.

The knights froze in shock as more and more titans appeared throughout the capital.

"What in the…?" Mordred halted her horse, eyes fixed on the growing number of titans. Her grip tightened on Clarent.

Even Artoria, though calm, seemed momentarily taken aback. Yet she didn't waver. At the end of the day, she viewed them as enemies, nothing more.

"Form a defensive line!" she ordered, her voice sharp. "Do not stay close to one another! Spread out! The enemy is before us!"

She leapt down from her horse, walking steadily toward the enemy.

"Come, Excalibur, become my blade once more."

In an instant, Excalibur shot to her grasp, crackling with energy as lightning sparked around her body.

The knights spread out as instructed, giving the Roundtable room to engage the titans.

What none of them knew was that Red Wings members were already hidden among the soldiers. One by one, they revealed themselves, their blades gleaming as they slaughtered knights and soldiers alike.

It began with one civilian getting stabbed—a woman screamed—and soon, chaos erupted. Blood splattered the streets as civilians tried to flee, but they too fell under the blades of the Red Wings, bodies dropping to the ground in pools of blood.

Lancelot's face contorted in rage as he charged at one of the titans, his blade raised high.

"Be gone, you filth!" he roared, leaping into the air. His blade glowed with energy as he swung it down with all his might.

But the titan simply absorbed the attack. Its glowing eyes locked onto Lancelot.

"No way... It... absorbed it?"

Before Lancelot could react, the titan kicked him aside. His body crashed into a nearby building, rolling across the ground. Blood spilled from his mouth as he struggled to stay conscious. His blurred vision barely made out the horrifying scene before him—knights were being crushed like insects under the titans' massive feet.

"No matter what we throw at them... it's all useless," he whispered. The screams of the dying filled his ears, and despair took hold.

Mordred fought beside Gwin, the two of them cutting down Red Wings members and titans alike. Clarent, with its curse-nullifying power, gave Mordred an advantage. But even as she fought, she knew the battle was one-sided.

Not even a minute had passed, and it felt like half their soldiers were already dead. The streets were littered with bodies, civilians scattered in every direction, running for their lives.

Hours dragged on, the sun climbing higher in the sky, and yet Camelot continued to crumble. One by one, the knights of the Roundtable fell. Only Tristan, Mordred, and Gwin remained, their armor drenched in blood, their faces grim with exhaustion.

"What have I done?" Lancelot muttered, watching the devastation unfold, his strength failing him. He fell, collapsing to the ground.

"I don't want to die…" A man's voice whimpered from the corner of a collapsing building, clutching his child close. He begged for mercy, but none came. A Red Wings member found him and swiftly ended both their lives.

Slash!

Artoria, panting, blood staining her face, cleaved the head off a titan. Its massive body crashed to the ground with a thunderous thud. She dropped to one knee, using Excalibur as support.

"Mother!" Mordred's voice rang out.

Artoria turned, but too late—Mordred had already moved to defend her.

Streak!

A blade pierced through Mordred's chest. Blood sprayed from her mouth.

"Mordred!" Artoria's voice cracked as she watched her daughter collapse, Scorpion standing behind her, blade drenched in blood.

"Bastard…" Mordred grunted, her eyes fluttering as she struggled to stay conscious.

With a cold, merciless stare, Scorpion yanked his blade free, watching as Mordred's body fell limply to the ground.

Before Artoria could react, Scorpion's hand shot out, gripping her by the throat. Her blade fell from her grasp.

"Can you see it now, Artoria? The great capital you held so dear has fallen in less than a day. How pathetic. Your soldiers are dead, your knights are broken, and you… as a king have failed."

With a sickening crunch, he stepped on her knee, shattering the bone. Artoria screamed, her body trembling with pain.

Scorpion smirked, tossing her to the side like a ragdoll. She skidded across the blood-soaked ground.

"You're still so calm… I wonder, when will you break?"

He raised a hand, signaling to his men. "Bring them here."

Artoria's heart sank as one of the Red Wings dragged Ha Joon's limp body across the ground.

"No…" she whispered.

"The prime minister you tried to keep hidden… Do you think you can protect him too?" Scorpion sneered, lifting Ha Joon by the neck.

Ha Joon, still barely conscious, managed a weak smile. "Why… that look on your face? I'm… the one who failed."

Tears welled up in Artoria's eyes, her chest tightening.

Scorpion pulled Ha Joon's phone from his pocket, tapping the screen. Instantly, holographic displays appeared across the capital, showing everything happening around them.

"People of Camelot! Look at your king now!" Scorpion's voice boomed across the city. "Your knights have fallen, your soldiers are dead, and you… are cut off from the outside world. None of you will live to tell this tale."

Across the city, civilians trembled, watching in disbelief. The mighty Roundtable knights, powerless against this enemy. Their hope crumbled with each passing moment.

Artoria, her body shaking, tried to stand.

"Tell them, Artoria," Scorpion taunted. "Tell them how you failed!"

But she couldn't speak. Tears almost rolled down her cheeks as she watched Ha Joon, helpless.

For the first time - she truly felt like she couldn't do anything in a fight.

"Chaos to the world, Artoria Pendragon. This is where it all ends."

And with that, he drove his hand into Ha Joon's chest, pulling out his heart before tossing his lifeless body to the ground.

Artoria's heart shattered. She knelt there, frozen, unable to move, as the world around her fell apart.

The Red Wings gathered behind Scorpion, who spread his arms wide, laughing.

"Camelot has fallen! Mother can now come and claim what is hers!"

As his words echoed, a portal opened in the sky. The Goddess herself stepped through, her cold eyes surveying the devastation.

Whatever hope remained was extinguished at that moment.

Camelot was no more.
