Chapter 77: The Goddess, Ishtar
///The nation of Unakel///
The well known Nation of Unakel was known to be the third largest kingdom in all of Tavert. It is an isolated nation bordered by thick forest, making it difficult for outsiders to access.
With a population of over 2.5 million people, the king of the nation had over five noble powerful factions to help rule his people, which was legitimized by the Oracle of Ishter.
Every nation had a deity that reigned supreme over it, Camelot had the Dragon emperor, Pendragon, and Unakel was no exception to this trait.
The nation itself happened to be one of the few nations to have a god rule over it, making it a God land country.
Nations with gods who rule over were considered to always be successful and thriving. People were birth with exceptional blessing due to the influence of these gods.
Ishtar was one of those gods that decided to rule over a nation. She ruled for over 200 years, making her name known widely and far.
Many people claimed to have never seen her as she was known to send her servant, The Oracle to pass information to the king. see-more-MVLeMpYr
But when the goddess Oracle stopped sending messages to the people, the nation of Unakel believed the goddess had returned to the Heavenly realm.
Some rumored she fled heaven and took refuge on earth, and now that her presence was known, the gods of the heavens had taken her back.
Others claimed she got fed up with the people that worshiped her and went into hiding— At the end of the day, no one truly knew what happened.
All they knew was, after her disappearance, the people who were directly serving her formed a dangerous organization, to put the country in check.
They killed and held the kingdom with a firm fist, all in the name of the goddess, and no one dared to question them, for they were the servants of Unakel.
One by one, the yellow portals began to open up in front of the temple gate, Oni.
This shrine was located in the capital of Unakel, Karnis, that sits at the base of the towering Mount Dealeth, a sacred mountain where it was said the gods once walked.
From within the portals, the members of the Red wings began to step out.
Waiting for them at the entrance were pairs of massive, curved obsidian doors with inlaid gold, carved to depict the goddess's eyes, watching those who enter.
Guardians in the form of ancient golems stood at the entrance, ready to come to life if any intruder were to approach.
As the members walked through the gate, the statue's eyes glowed.
In masses, they all climbed the hundreds of stairs leading into the shrine.
The inside was lit up by floating orbs of light, casting an eerie glow to the surrounding. The ceilings were high and cavernous, with intricate patterns of stars and constellations etched into the stones.
At the center of the shrine was the Altar of Discord, where followers and leaders alike brought offerings. The altar was a massive black stone slab, with glowing crimson crystals growing from beneath it. And above it, a suspended orb of energy floating.
Baaag!
An old man standing close to the decorated walls rang the ball.
"The warriors have returned." He announced.
One by one as the members entered the shrine, they stood in two straight lines, leaving enough space in the middle for 002 to walk through.
Now standing in front of the huge box that was covered with a red fabric, 002 fell to her knees.
"We have arrived goddess." She uttered, her head bowed.
The rest followed suit, going to their knees and bowing their heads.
From behind the cloth, the shadow of a woman kneeling down appeared.
002 was surprised, that was the first time the Goddess Ishtar had ever shown herself that fast; she normally takes about five minutes before acknowledging their presence.
"Where is he? Is he here?!" The voice of the Goddess echoed excitedly.
002 lowered her head even more, her eyes closed, "I'm sorry my goddess, but the unit you sent failed to capture him."
Silence took over.
No one dared raise their heads.
The sound of the fabric being pulled began to resound, and then… footsteps.
Suddenly -
"You there… raise your head." the Goddess's cold voice echoed in their heads.
002, sweating profoundly slowly raised her head, although she was seriously contemplating, no one wanted to ever be in the position she was in.
Once she had fully raised her head, she looked directly at Ishtar's eerie glowing eyes.
The Goddess was dressed in dark armor like fabric, with a crown on her head resembling that of horns.
"Where is the man I sent you all to get?" She calmly asked again.
"T..The unit you sent–"
Gab-!
The Goddess thrusted her fingers into 002's eyes, blood instantly spewed out, trailing down her eyes like tears, but even still, 002 didn't dare look away.
Instead she winced in pain as the Goddess continued to twist her fingers in 002's eye sockets.
"Are you giving excuses? Eh? Why did you fail such a simple task? Answer me." The Goddess spoke, her eyes so cold one could tell she held no emotions in them.
"049..049 and his squad failed to capture him Goddess, they …they are not worthy of your blessings- 035 betrayed you…and she's now with the Traveler, she refused to return!" 002 managed to let out under all the pain building up inside her.
"S..he what?" Ishtar suddenly pulled out her fingers, leaving 002 there, her damaged eyes already healing up.
"Yes My Goddess, she sided with the Traveler, according to 049 and 048." 002 confessed.
"Bring them to me." Ishtar uttered, the rage in her gaze had somehow died as she sat down on the cushion behind her.
002 wasted no time, she gave Scorpion and Zex, who were standing in the midst of the line, the side eye.
They understood what it meant.
And so they walked forward, falling to their knees immediately as they arrived in front of Ishtar.
