Chapter 67: The Elf Rebels
Huh?
Charles gave Eve a somewhat subtle glance, not expecting that she was serious about finding him another woman.
And not just any woman, but a strikingly beautiful and spirited elf. To him, this was a kind of "buy one, get one free" surprise.
Of course, he was a gentleman.
At least for now.
Charles sighed helplessly and addressed Amy, "I guess this girl was just rambling to you. You don't have to take it seriously."
Amy's expression didn't change at all upon hearing this. She turned to look at Eve, as if waiting for a clear directive.
Eve remained silent for a moment, then earnestly hugged Amy and said to Charles, "She wasn't wrong. Amy is going to marry you along with me and become your woman."
"But I need you to treat her as she deserves. Otherwise, this girl will think I've abandoned her and left her out."
The reason was simple: Amy could get emotionally shattered if left out, so Eve had no choice but to insist that Charles accept both of them.
After all, Amy was an exceptionally rare beauty, and Charles, this big flirt, wouldn't refuse.
Sure enough, after hearing this, Charles looked at the two women and said nothing more.
Who would refuse a super beautiful woman given for free?
Well, gaining another woman on just one visit was indeed quite impressive.
"Come on, Charles, let's take you to see the Forest of Elves. There's a lot of interesting stuff there." Eve said, pulling Charles' hand, eager to show him around her domain.
Compared to the Zerg territory, which was in a constant state of war, the Forest of Elves was more like a small town. Besides barracks, there were many elf civilians living there.
The elves, both men and women, had pointed long ears, and all were strikingly handsome or beautiful.
The streets were filled with laughter and joy, and the deep green hues covered almost the entire Forest of Elves.
"Look, isn't that our Queen Majesty? Why is there a man following her?"
"I think this man is really handsome, even more so than our elf men. Queen Majesty has good taste. So, is he our elf consort?"
"His looks are exceptional, but who knows how much real skill he has? After all, in the Continent of Overlord, strength is everything!"
Listening to the street comments about himself, Charles looked at the teasing Eve with a mix of amusement and exasperation. This sly girl~
Amy, following behind them, shot a cold glance at the chatty elf and said indifferently, "Go confess to the Mother Tree!"
Amy was addressing the elf male who had doubted Charles' abilities. How could anyone question the Queen Majesty's decisions?
As expected, the elf man's face turned pale upon hearing Amy's reprimand, and he reluctantly walked away.
Judging by the expressions of the other elves, this matter was far from over.
Charles' eyes deepened slightly. It seemed that in the Forest of Elves, Eve played the role of a kind and wise sprite queen.
Meanwhile, Amy was likely seen as a spoiled and arrogant power-holder. But who would know that this Queen in front of him was the mastermind behind it all?
"You truly are a cunning Queen." Charles remarked.
Eve smiled but said nothing, clearly appreciating his compliment.
After all, how could one navigate a world of interests without being cunning?
In a way, Medusa and Charles were similar—they preferred to solve problems with sheer force rather than getting entangled in the complexities of fame and fortune.
Eve and Serpent Emperor Yggdrasil, on the other hand, were adept in their respective domains, wielding high-level political skills and cold-blooded tactics. This gave their territories a unique cohesion.
Of course, when it came to cohesion, no race could match the Zerg.
"In fact, the Majesty wasn't always like this. It's just that recently, more and more foreign elves have come, and many of them turned out to be rebels." Amy sighed, looking puzzled.
She seemed unable to comprehend why these people were so fixated on overthrowing their Queen. Could there be a land more prosperous than this?
Charles' expression stiffened slightly. He caught the underlying message in Amy's words—there were elf rebels here.
He instinctively glanced at Eve, worried she might not be able to handle these power struggles.
After all... this girl had only been studying at a prestigious school before, with no formal training in governance.
Well, managing a company might count for something, but dealing with a rebellion involved countless lives.
Seeing his concern, Eve playfully pinched Charles' cheek and asked with a cute face, "What, don't you believe your woman is a management genius?"
"Fighting with people is the fun part. Those rebels are just a minor nuisance. This Queen has already stripped them down to their last shred of dignity."
Se held her head high, looking quite proud.
Charles sighed helplessly and said, "You silly girl, it's precisely because you've suppressed them so much that it's going to be dangerous in the future."
"How about I send a few scout Zergs to help you gather information on them? That way, you can plan ahead and deal with them."
After all, she was his woman, and Charles couldn't just let her be bullied. Thus, he decisively sent out his Zerg scouts.
A few adorable, color-shifting bugs suddenly appeared, piquing the curiosity of both women.
Charles smiled slightly. These creatures were originally a species skilled in observation from the Serene Forest, later bio-engineered by Catherine into what are now known as blade bugs—a unique unit type.
"They can observe people and things from dozens of kilometers away, and they can also resize and relay information. Plus, this type of Zerg has the ability to blend in with the surroundings, making them extremely stealthy." Charles explained. The bugs quickly merged with the environment, disappearing right before the women's eyes.
Eve was visibly stunned by this display.
She knew the Zerg were a highly powerful race, but she had no idea they had such versatile capabilities.
Although this ability wasn't as potent as Amy's, it made up for it in numbers, allowing them to monitor the key elf rebel leaders.
Ah, the more people you have, the more issues you deal with.
"Daddy, is there a price for these?" Eve asked naturally, causing both Charles and Amy to fall silent.
Wait, sis, you call me that even in this situation?
Charles' mouth twitched as he said, "That's our little private joke, keep it between us. I can create these bugs freely, so you can have all the scouts you need."
Though he enjoyed having his partners call out certain things during intimate moments, he still respected their families in real life.
Eve's face flushed red at his words. She had spoken without thinking, saying whatever came to mind.
Now, reflecting on what she had just said, she felt incredibly embarrassed.
Eve, oh Eve, how could you do this and face your parents?
"Thanks." Eve muttered, lowering her head as she mentally imprinted the scout Zerg with her spiritual mark.
This was a traditional control method, using her mental power to dominate the subject's mind, fully enslaving it.
Of course, for the Zerg, this actually enhanced its intelligence.
Apart from Zerg heroes and some with heroic potential, most Zerg had little to no intelligence. Using a spiritual imprint was thus an efficient way to subjugate them.
Charles nodded slowly, satisfied, and the three of them proceeded to their residence within the Forest of Elves—a beautifully crafted treehouse.
He looked at the scene before him with some surprise, thinking that the term "treehouse" didn't quite do justice to the Queen's residence. Perhaps a palace crafted from trees would be more appropriate.
Due to their home-field advantage, the wood elves could easily shape this palace from the trees, combined with the various architectural designs Eve had seen in the real world, resulting in the creation of this grand wooden hall.
"Pretty, isn't it? This is based on a luxury villa style I had in mind from back home. Amy made some tweaks, and it turned into this little wooden house." Eve said, clutching Charles' sleeve with a hint of pride in her voice.
This elf palace was a proud collaboration between her and Amy, so naturally, she wanted to show it off to her fiancé.
Of course, she was also thinking of finding an excuse to help Charles build a wooden structure of his own.
Charles didn't focus on the style or luxury; he was fixated on the wood itself.
With a twitching mouth, he asked, "Eve, don't tell me all the wood used here is from the Tree of Life. That's... wasteful."
Indeed, his Zerg Overlord bloodline was hungrily absorbing the abundant life energy around him. Coupled with the elf palace, it was easy to deduce the materials used.
Damn, this is way too extravagant!
Before Eve could say anything, Amy spoke up with a serious expression, "Charles , you might not know this, but as Queen Majesty of our elf tribe, the environment in which Eve resides has very high natural requirements."
"For example, buildings made from the Tree of Life symbolize Queen Majesty's status. Without them, many of our less steadfast tribespeople might question the sprite queen's authority."
It's similar to how feudal states often adorned their palaces with precious gems or gold—it's a matter of symbolism.
And, for now, there's no way around it.
