Chapter383-Uneasy Encounters

The airship was set to autopilot, so everyone was taking the opportunity to rest properly.

They dared not let their guard down, knowing only upon their return to Capital Star could they relax a bit.

What might unfold afterward was beyond their immediate concern; their primary goal was to return safely, especially given Victor's critical and unstable condition—no one knew what might happen next.

Once back, they might even consult a doctor, despite the uncertainties surrounding Victor's mysterious condition.

If these powers had entered him, surely, there must be a way for them to leave; they just hadn't found it yet.

With this thought, everyone felt slightly more at ease.

After all, they couldn't just watch Victor pass out before them helplessly.

The airship continued its orderly journey, allowing everyone a slight sense of relief.

For now, at least, the path ahead seemed stable.

John sat by the window, gazing out at the vast expanse of starry sky, feeling an unusual sensation stir within him.

Perhaps this trip back could bring some unexpected gains, or maybe the hints Scarlett had given him weren't just about the arduousness of the nearby routes.

With these thoughts, he breathed a little easier and entertained some new ideas—if the journey did prove turbulent, then they might as well face it head-on.

The trip from Alkaid to Capital Star required 78 hours.

They had initially thought that these 78 hours would pass without incident, but five hours in, the airship suddenly shuddered.

In that instant, everyone woke up, alert and wary, scrutinizing the scenery outside.

By now, Vincent had mostly recovered.

He sensed that someone was probing their defenses, and there were large-caliber energy cannons aimed at them.

They also distinctly felt that something about the scenery outside was off.

They saw several combat skiffs encircling them, and in that instant, everyone understood what was about to unfold.

"Looks like some people are foolishly trying to mess with us," Vincent mused.

"I just don't know what they're thinking—are they orchestrated by someone else, or what?"

Silver Tear had also mostly recovered and couldn't help but scoff upon seeing these people.

Honestly, she found it utterly ridiculous how they were acting.

What does it mean to be courting death? This was probably the very definition of it.

"Who cares what they're here for? If they dare to make a move now, the only thing waiting for them is a dead end," Dark Fox remarked, clearly out of patience.

This incident was just one of many they had faced, and now, with the captain still unconscious, there was no chance of him waking up soon.

If the captain were to suffer further harm because of this, they would likely never forgive themselves.

John glanced at the markings on these small skiffs and frowned slightly.

He noticed the black skull emblems on the vessels.

"It seems these really are space pirates who truly have a death wish, daring to strike here," he mused.

They had been traveling for less than five hours, with only a dozen or so hours from other planets.

These people must be mad to attempt an attack in this place.

"Indeed, we had received reports recently that this area was unstable, with some space pirates active, but I didn't expect they would actually dare to come at us."

Vincent looked at the attackers as if he was watching a humorous joke unfold, seeing their impending demise in an instant.

If some foolhardy souls wanted to provoke them, they certainly wouldn't mind.

"You inside, listen up—you're surrounded. Hand over your belongings now, and I might spare your lives. Otherwise, don't blame us for not being polite," came a voice from outside.

The crew exchanged glances and couldn't help but laugh among themselves.

Honestly, they had anticipated stupidity, but they had never really expected such brazenly reckless individuals to come provoke them.

"Did you hear me? Take advantage of our willingness to talk nicely now. Don't act foolishly here, or don't blame us for not being polite," the voice intensified.

Although sound cannot travel through space, these people had devised another method: direct communication through collision.

They used a special technique to hack in and directly contact the airship's communication equipment.

This way, their words could all be transmitted inside.

This situation also meant that the airship was now under their control.

Since they could manipulate the communication devices, they could likely control other systems of the airship as well.

They were very clear and well aware of everything happening on this airship.

Sure enough, when those people saw a woman aboard the spaceship, their expressions instantly turned excited.

"Didn't expect a woman here. Looks like we're in luck today," one of them said, their faces lighting up with excitement, as they started spouting vulgarities.

Silver Tear heard every word, her expression turning grim and darkening instantly.

"This girl looks feisty. Big brother, after you're done, make sure we get a turn before we dump her on Blackmine Star," one of the men chuckled, prompting lewd smiles from the others, their tone filled with crude enthusiasm.

They seemed to already consider the small airship as theirs for the taking.

Silver Tear, however, did not show anger; instead, she looked at them with eyes devoid of emotion, as if staring at the dead.

These men had sealed their fate the moment they decided to provoke them, so why should she waste anger on them?

John quietly watched, a smile curling at his lips.

"That pretty boy looks alright, but those two with the big beards seem rough. Still, not bad for slaves after we take them down."

The men laughed, already imagining how they would incapacitate the crew and the joyous lives they would lead afterward.

The leader, upon seeing the group, became very serious.

Although he didn't know the origins of these individuals, the fact that someone was willing to spend a lot of money for him to handle this matter indicated that these were no ordinary people.

"If they don't open the door, break it down," Vulture commanded, his lips curling into a cruel smile.

His underlings immediately grew excited.

They thrived on seeing the agony of others, delighting in their victims' pained cries before them.

They knew well that an airship was not like a spaceship; if something went wrong and the people inside lost their protection, there would be no escape from death.

After all, no ordinary person could survive in space—there was no oxygen, and they certainly couldn't withstand the radiation.

"Once we breach the door, these people are as good as dead!"

The henchmen were exhilarated, and they noticed the small skiffs surrounding them drawing closer, each armed with large-caliber cannons.

"Attack!"
