I Reincarnated as a Shinai

Chapter 3: Missions

Chapter 3: Missions

Reiji felt happy seeing that he really obtained the skill and learned how to use them. It was an experience he couldn't describe in words.

He felt satisfied at this and since everything seems to be set, Reiji tried to move and leave this place but...

'Urgh... I can't move?'

He was comfortable at his current night view so he didn't notice that he was actually unable to leave the garbage dump.

Based on what his guide said, he was thrown to a trash bin three days ago by his summoner. So, glancing at his surroundings, he was sure that this place was now a garbage dump somewhere far from the large town.

'It doesn't stink? No... My senses were dulled but only my eyesight...'

It was a bit dark so he wasn't really confident but he believes that his eyesight was still very good or might even be better than his previous life.

"Now, what should I do here?"

He then glanced at the Skill Options and saw that there was a Sword Kinesis skill but it was worth 50 SP and he no longer has any Skill Points.

"Hey, isn't that quite expensive?"

He shakes his non-existent head as he tried to think for a different solution. He decided to open the [ Available Missions ].

[ View All Ongoing Mission ]

[ View Completed Mission ]

Reiji, of course, selected the first option as he hadn't completed any mission yet. He then read the first ongoing mission.

[ Hold on ]

[ The host must find someone who can hold him for 50 minutes straight without any pause. If you were unhanded even by a second, the timer will restart.

Reward: 10 SP ]

"Oh, this is not bad." Reiji felt confident that this will be easy. He knows how beautiful his form was, it was a slender and clean shinai. It wouldn't even be a problem if the mission would be for a couple of hours.

Well, he was basing it on how he will behave if ever he saw an exquisite shinai.

He felt positive seeing the first mission so his mood brightened. Anyway, if ever he found someone who wanted to train swordsmanship, then this will be a breeze.

'Mhm... Next.'

Apparently, there were two more ongoing missions available so he quickly read them.

[ Untouchable ]

[ The host must remain untouched for 6 straight days. If you were touched by any living person, the timer will restart.

Reward: 20 SP ]

"Eh... This mission looks doable and the reward was better..."

He glanced at the place he was in and remembered that it might actually be difficult to find someone here.

'But there should be some people going to this place, right?'

After all, there must be some poor people here and there that wanted to take chances in this garbage dump. Right? Right?

Reiji suddenly felt worried that he will just be covered by new garbages in the next few days if ever the second mission really happened. That would be a disaster if he just gets buried here.

'At least, I'll get some SP...'

He didn't forget to be positive in the end.

'Now, the last mission.'

[ First Blood ]

[ Have a taste of blood in any method. The amount of reward will depend on how much blood the user was drenched with. But as long as the user's current form received even a drop of blood, the mission can be considered a success and will get a reward.

Reward: 1-50 SP ]

"Ooohh! This looks possible. Even the rewards were generous. Nice!"

Reiji was satisfied with these missions but after a few minutes, he was now blankly staring at the stars. There was nothing to do.

He didn't felt sleepy or any need to sleep at all.

He didn't know how long had passed as he waited until the sun came up.

"This... is sooo boring..."

Reiji felt that he would first finish the Untouchable mission rather than the Hold On and First Blood missions.

'Sigh~'

***

Aria Luxford was very popular in her class not just because of her beauty but due to her superb combat prowess.

It was to the point that she could even contend to someone above her age.

Today, she received a Legendary rating for her Arcana which will surely make her family proud of her. This would ensure her bright future as well when she grew up, she could take a high-ranking position or even marry a noble which would elevate her family's status.

After all, it would be very difficult to find someone who has an epic rating in this small kingdom much less a legendary rating.

She came from a humble background and only had a chance to study at the Royal Academy due to her talent and hard work. So, even though she wasn't the top student and still below to a couple of nobility, she didn't felt any remorse and even felt that she was doing very well.

Aria wanted to celebrate her acquisition of Arcana together with her classmates even for a bit but she was suddenly informed that her little brother was caught in an accident and being treated by a doctor.

She quickly left the place and went to her brother's side.

"What happened here?!"

Aria asked her mother after seeing his brother unconscious and lying on his bed. Apparently, her little brother was already weak with his body, getting into an accident would just worsen his condition.

The doctor has already left and only her mother could answer.

"He... your little brother..."

Aria noticed that her mother was hesitating to tell what happened and she suddenly had a bad premonition.

"Was he bullied?!"

Her mother could no longer contain it as she told her the complete story while trying to stop herself from crying.

Diether, her little brother, was targeted by a few young nobles in his class after learning that he was a son of a soldier who was labeled as a traitor. The young man's sensitive feelings were hurt at this as he tried to defend his father that he was looking up to.

The nobles had then "accidentally" pushed him on the stairs where the young man got his injury. Luckily, it was immediately seen by an instructor of the academy who brought Diether to a clinic and gets a medication. After he was told that he can now go home, their mother accompanied him to return but his previous sickness acted up an hour later as he collapsed and lost consciousness again.

"Who are they?"

Aria didn't raise her voice and only said in a cold tone.

Although she was weak today, she remembers everyone who mistreated her family. One day, when she had a firmer status; when her mother will no longer be affected by her actions; when she was powerful enough to protect her family; when she had the means to clean his father's name... She'll surely get back at them.

Diether woke up the next morning. He learned from his mother what happened after he passed out.

After he was left alone, he silently gritted his teeth as he could only blame himself for being this weak.

'I'm being a burden...'

'I can't drag my sister down any longer...'

Diether was sobbing weakly as he covered himself with a blanket. After almost an hour of staying on the bed. He stood up with a firm light in his eyes.

He knows what to do.

He took all his belongings as he decided to lessen the burden of his sister and live alone. He has small savings with him that he can use to live for at least three to five months if he controlled his spendings.

During that time, he will use his bit of knowledge on the spiritual energy and earn money for a living.
