Chapter 98: Scheduled a Family Meeting
Upon hearing their boss talk, all the other members turned their heads toward Stark, just to see him with a wide grin on his face, almost as if he didn't care if he was killed by them.
An expression that showed that even though he was the weakest one in the room, he was still in total control.
They instantly knew Juan was telling the truth, and so they removed their aura and put their weapons away.
"Well... it was nice meeting you Stark," Juan smiled, and his companions immediately disappeared to go back behind him, it was so fast even Stark struggled to see it with [Focus].
"See ya," he shrugged.
"You are not interested for now, and it is fine," he got up from the chair, "I hope to meet you again soon, hopefully you will not be dead by the time the second domination trial starts."
"I won't be," Stark confirmed.
"Then we will be going out," and suddenly, Juan in a micro-second tightened his grip around his katana and...
"Instant Slash," he cut the clone's head so fast that it looked he didn't even move.
"-483618!" the damage was terrifying, enough to take down Judicator in one strike.
"Goodbye, Chosen," he waved from behind while the clone's head was falling, then all of the domination users disappeared instantly in a flash.
"Fucking hell..." Stark's felt his world spin, he didn't feel any sort of pain since it wasn't his real body, but it was still confusing to know someone so strong was right there.
…
"HAAAAAA~" he opened his eyes again as the clone's figure seeped back into his original body: he was now back inside the memories museum in his own body, his clone was dead after all, so his consciousness was immediately transferred back.
And as soon as he got up…
…
[Skill: Clone Frenzy]
[New Perk: By focusing your aura in your eyes and transferring it to your clone, you are now able to control the other Stark perfectly (although it would still be restricted in terms of strength and speed).]
…
'So you can gain perks even if you don't level up your skill…?' now that he knew that, the presence of the Memories Museum became so much more interesting as it meant that over the course of thousands of tries, he could possibly unlock a new perk for his skills using his brain, much like when he learned to see auras even though his eyes were closed.
'Well… let's get out of here,' he sighed and headed toward the black door.
He had seen them leave, but he wasn't dumb, so he obviously sent another clone to check out whether they were trying to double down on him.
But even after a few minutes of analysis, he sensed no auras, so he went back to his original body, then opened the door and entered his hotel room.
The door to the 'Memories Museum' immediately disappeared once the original body left.
'My wall… :(' he was madder that they actually broke down a part of his room, 'Fucking hell I don't have the money to deal with that shit…'
But… after looking around, he noticed that there was something on the table.
It was… a cheque?
…
[Cheque:] 2 million rher coins
[Message:] Sorry for the wall, use that money to fix it up!
…
Two million rher coins was no small amount, and it could easily cover the repairs for his damaged wall.
But the apology accompanying it puzzled him. Why would they care about covering for his room after trying to recruit him and then attacking his clone?
'Heh… I don't care, money is money!' he grabbed his phone and scanned the cheque using his bank application, now all he needed to do was wait for people to notice what happened and come ask him questions, 'They are probably gonna kick me out…'
He figured he should really start saving up to buy a house or even just an apartment as living in hotels wasn't that good.
But surprisingly, as soon as he finished scanning the cheque, putting the money in his account… his network came back.
And so…
~BEEP, BEEP, BEEP~
Dozens upon dozens of notifications flooded his phone's screen.
'The fuck…?'
He opened it using his passcode and realized that the notifications came from one application only: messages.
And even more surprising, it was only one person.
Stark could already guess who it was since he only had one person in his contact list…
And he was right.
…
[Contact:] Lana Moonless
[182 messages, 47 missed calls]
…
{Hey, did you see the news? You were on them!}
{Everyone has been talking about the bunny-masked man haha!}
{Wanna go somewhere later…? Of course, to talk!}
Such messages appeared over and over.
{Why aren't you answering?}
{Ignoring me now? What did I do?}
{Are you mad?}
That's when she began to call him many times.
But in the end, Stark couldn't answer any of those messages or calls since he was inside the Memories Museum, and he had left his phone inside his inventory void since he was too focused on defeating the 6 bosses.
He would try to make up for it, but he didn't really know why she was so obsessed with talking to him.
And the last message she sent, only a mere hour ago was…
[Hey, if you see this… wanna meet up with my family? My father wants to talk to you!]
'…'
He had just come back from his training, and from meeting with five people who clearly had no good intentions with him as they knew who he was.
But…
'Heh… why not!'
He would also use this opportunity to make sure to explain why he didn't respond.
…
{Stark: Why not, when do you want me to come?}
He answered for the first time in a week, and the message was immediately read by Lana.
'Damn, does she stay on her phone all day long?'
This was false, the reason why it was seen so quick was because Stark was the only person Lana allowed notifications to be activated on her phone, so she immediately knew it was him when she heard the BEEP.
{Lana: YOU FINALLY ANSWER? WHERE WERE YOU!!!??}
She went on a five paragraph rant about how she was worried and thought that he had gone on some crazy adventure again and died, which Stark promptly ignored since 'I ain't reading allat'.
But soon enough…
{I'll come get you two days from now, I'll inform my family!}
She seemed to be more excited than he was for that, but oh well, he guessed that spending all his time fighting and going to the market was bad for him, so normal social interactions couldn't be so bad now could they…?
{Stark: Great, I'll be waiting for that :)}
He had a lot of things to think about, and it was possible he would need to attend another rift soon if it opened, plus he had seen after Lana's comment that the videos of his battles had all been posted on MeeTube and were reviewed by many classifiers and news stations, meaning that Stark was basically one of the most famous persons in the world right now.
Or at least, the bunny-masked man was since videos showing his achievements reached tens of millions of views.
'Well, time to get ready for that meeting… hopefully it goes well!'
It didn't.
