Chapter 6: Duel Request
Chapter 6: Duel Request
As Stark sat in the classroom, trying to focus on the lesson being taught, he couldn't help but feel the weight of everyone's gaze on him.
It was clear that his arrival had stirred up some kind of reaction among his classmates as most of them had seen the video that was going around the internet of him tricking the other guy into falling off a building.
And after an hour of boring lessons he tried his hardest to listen to...
~SLAM~
The door of the classroom opened, and three guys entered it as if they were the kings.
Stark immediately noticed that one of the boys, who was also the leader, was the tanned blond-haired man he had tricked yesterday.
"Daniel, I won't allow you to cause havoc in my class," the teacher, a man in his mid-forties, who also looked used to this types of scenes, retorted.
But Daniel brushed him off, pointing his hand at Stark, "You, me, at the back of the school right after class ends, i'm finally going to end your pathetic life, you parasite."
"Holy shit... Daniel actually asked for a duel...?"
"Doesn't it mean he is gonna kill him?"
"I want to see that...!"
It seemed like people were excited to see the fight, and looking at Daniel's expression, it looked like he was ready to kill, his powers and family influence probably enough to let him get away with that.
But Stark wasn't impressed.
'Since when do tutorial bosses get second phases...' he sighed.
And without even taking the time to let him answer, Daniel and his little gang left as it wasn't their classroom.
'This guy was massively injured yesterday, and now he is back as if nothing happened... I guess there must be some powerful healers huh...'
The class continued for the rest of the day, but nobody could really focus as all they were waiting for was the upcoming confrontation where Daniel would decimate Stark.
Surprisingly, Stark was the only one that didn't look bothered by this at all, almost as if he didn't care.
And he actually didn't.
As the bell rang for the end of the day, the students began to file out of the classroom, chattering about the upcoming duel between Stark and Daniel.
It was the talk of the school.
"Yawn~" the black-haired boy in question slowly left the classroom too and then followed the crowd toward the back of the school, wanting to just win this fight and get this over with.
[Are you this confident you could win?]
This panel appeared before him, and he stopped for a few seconds to read it.
"Yeah," he replied before resuming to walk.
[Hm... Why are you this confident?]
"I don't know, I just am somehow, tutorials aren't that hard you know."
[It's not a- you know what, forget about it]
And then it disappeared.
Stark took the exit door then headed toward the courtyard, which was the 'back of the school' he guessed.
It was a massive open area surrounded by other middle-sized buildings, filled with benches and trees.
There were also many terrains used for different activities, but mainly for student fighting as it was part of the curriculum for them to train and improve their classes.
As he walked across it, he spotted Daniel and his gang waiting for him near the edge of a field, surrounded by at least two hundred students, and even some teachers.
Stark approached them, and noticing his presence, the students made way for him, then shortly closed the circle afterward, stopping a few feet away.
Daniel, the blond-haired boy, looked at Stark with a sneer, "So you actually came. Looks like I'll be entertaining myself today."
Stark raised an eyebrow and smirked, "Well, if we're going to do this, let's get it over with."
Sensing that this wouldn't lead to anything good, one of the teachers, a woman with brown hair that reached her waist and a very voluptuous body put herself between the two boys.
"There is no need to continue this charade, just forget about it and go back home," she shouted, mainly glancing at Stark as she was sure he would lose.
But Daniel didn't care about any of this, and instead he mumbled, "Duel request: Stark."
After whispering those words, a crimson panel appeared in front of Stark.
[Duel Request: Daniel]
[Type: Deathless]
[Y/N]
With a smirk on his face, Stark looked at the panel before responding, "Y."
Immediately, the panel vanished, and the students surrounding them fell silent.
The teacher, who was in the middle of the two boys, was ejected out of their circle in full force, then landed on the ground a few meters away.
A giant sphere had formed around Daniel and Stark: this was the arena of the duel, and nobody would be able to disturb them in there.
'Very game like, I wonder just how many more things like this will come up,' Stark scratched his chin.
[Commentary from Rher: My guy, aren't you scared? You have no class and your stats are much weaker...?]
'Nah, i'd win, plus i'm sure you wouldn't let me just die like this, would you?' he grinned.
[...Yeah]
A countdown then appeared above their 'arena'.
[5...4...3...2...1...]
[GO!]
And right at the countdown ended, Stark got two notifications.
~Ding~
~Ding~
...
[New Skill: Perception]
[Type:] Passive Skill
[Level:] Cannot be upgraded since it is not combat related.
[Description:] This skill is always active, and allows the user to check the name, level, class, attributes and skills of the person in front of them (also items).
...
'Nice,' Stark didn't waste time and immediately used it to check Daniel.
[Name: Daniel Pridel]
[Level: 12]
[Class: Warrior]
[HP: 1250]
[Strength: 42]
[Speed: 27]
[Stamina: 64]
[Defense: 107]
[Skills: Strike; Force; Buff...]
'Okay... he is definitely way stronger than me...' Stark was actually surprised the difference was this blatant.
But before Stark could even check out the second notification he had gotten, Daniel summoned his steel sword from thin air then dashed toward him.
Seeing him come at him at full speed, Stark realized he wouldn't be able to avoid it like he did last time.
'I have made a severe and continuous lapse in my judgment,' he was mainly speaking to Rher while smirking.
[Do not fret, everything will be fine]
~SLASH~
Daniel used [Strike] and hit Stark in the stomach, causing him 374 points of damage, which was way more than his measly 10HP.
