Chapter 47: The Mirror Master
[Last Guardian: The Mirror Master]
[It is the final obstacle, participants, good luck]
"Welp, let's get out of there," Stark breach in and out before positioning himself against the mirror master.
"You think you can stop me? NO ONE CAN DEFEAT ME, ITS MY WORLD, NOT YOURS!"
The mirror master was one of the rare monsters able to speak human language to communicate, a skill extremely rare for monsters, but it wasn't surprising as he was supposed to be the king of this place.
"Perception!" Stark used his skill to analyze the big boss.
…
[Name: The Mirror Master (BOSS)]
[Level: 30]
[HP: 160000]
[Strength: 1329]
[Stamina: 1151]
[Speed: 927]
[Defense: 428]
[Skills: Glass Rain, All-Area Strike, World's Reflection, Multiply, The Master of Mirrors, Shard Throw…]
…
"Extremely strong," that's all Stark said to Orasio for him to understand they were facing a whole other level of monsters, it could probably take on the three other guardians simultaneously, "And 160000HP, although defense is low."
"Well then, let's destroy it before it can do anything!" Orasio smiled, his shield ready.
The first one to attack was the master since he was furious not only had two of them managed to enter this place while it was only supposed to be only one, but they also destroyed his mirror before he could finish his amazing speech he learned perfectly for this occasion.
"Shard Throw…!"
The Mirror Master let out a roar and raised his hand, shards of glass forming around him before shooting towards Stark and Orasio like deadly arrows.
Stark swiftly dodged to the side while Orasio held up his shield, the glass shards bouncing harmlessly off the sturdy surface.
"Aura Smash," he still had one crimson fist available, and so he sent it at the master while he was using his skill.
"-9382!" he was hit by the attack, but only flinched, not even backing away and not stopping his barrage of shards.
Stark used that opportunity to close the distance between them, and although it became more dangerous the closer he got, he still was able to dodge thanks to his speed, which was greatly enhanced by his aura.
Seeing that, the master focused all his shards on the black-haired boy, completely ignoring Orasio.
"Explosive Shield!"
Orasio saw an opening in the Mirror Master's defenses and seized the chance to strike.
He threw his shield at the big boss, and hit him in full force, creating an explosion that enveloped him.
"-21728!" the damage was insane.
And also…
[Enemy burned!]
[Enemy will receive 200 points of damage every second for 60 seconds!]
'…?' Stark was baffled, he didn't know this skill could do that?
"It's only a 10 percent chance, which is why it never happened until now," Orasio scratched his head before summoning his shield again.
The master's cloak was burning, but it didn't seem like he cared, his fury pushing him to keep attacking.
"YOU WANNA PLAY THIS GAME? THEN LETS PLAY!" the master stretched his arms in both directions, and that same crystal shard that appeared before floating in front of his chest, "WORLD'S REFLECTION!"
He spinned the crystal, and suddenly…
~FWISH~
The gravity switched, sending Stark and Orasio hurtling towards the sky as the world had turned upside down.
~CRASH~
Luckily for them, the sky was fake, and so they crashed onto the fake ceiling.
"-212! -147!" they received a bit of damage, and below they could see the mirror master grinning for a few seconds before suddenly dropping to the ceiling (now ground?), almost as if he wasn't affected by gravity, but just following its rules regardless.
"Multiply!" not even letting them breath, the master activated another one of his skills.
And suddenly, hundreds of mirrors appeared all around the boys, their surfaces reflecting the image of the Mirror Master back a thousandfold.
It was like an army of twisted, dark versions of himself stood ready to attack, it was basically like 'Clone Frenzy', except the clones were harmless and couldn't attack, mostly serving the purpose of confusing the enemy.
And of course, the master hid among them as they began spinning around the boys, making it impossible to discern where he was.
At least, that's what he believed, because Stark had 'Perception', and so he focused into each of the images of the master one by one, until eventually his status window appeared, allowing Stark to know who and where he was.
"Aura Smash!" he punched the air twice not in the master's direction, but toward another one of the fakes.
And the reason was obvious: the master's speed stat was high enough for him to avoid both of these attacks if he wasn't actively using a skill.
So he decided to use the new perk he learned during his fight against the shadows: change the fist's trajectory.
He raised both his arms toward the fists, and then closed his palms while imagining them heading toward the real Mirror Master.
And just as expected, the crimson fists both changed direction and headed toward the unsuspecting boss.
~BOOM~
"-9372! -10218!"
[Enemy stunned!]
"GET HIM!" all the fake images of the boss disappeared the moment he was hit, allowing Orasio to see him clearly.
And so the red-haired boy decided to use the new skill he had just acquired.
"SHIELD CRUSH!"
He threw his shield in the air right above the Mirror Master's head, unable to move since he was stunned.
And right as the shield reached above the monster's head.
~WFINK, FWINK!~
It grew at least fifty times its original size, and with an incredible force came crashing down, it was almost as if it had locked onto its target.
~BOOM~
The shield crashed onto the Mirror Master's head with a deafening impact, sending shockwaves through the area.
The monster let out a bloodcurdling scream as he was crushed under the immense force of the shield. Bits of glass shards flew in all directions as the Mirror Master's body was smashed into the ground, creating a small crater upon impact.
"-38271!" the damage was beyond anything both Stark and Orasio had seen, and even the latter was shocked.
The only problem was that this skill had a ten minute cooldown, and if he fought against too many enemies, Orasio would be overwhelmed since he was forced to throw his shield to use this skill.
And to add to the insane damage, Stark didn't hesitate to rush at the Mirror Master and hit him three times.
"-6572! -7391! -6958!"
"WORLD'S REFLECTION," he immediately used that skill again once able to move and yet again, Stark and Orasio came crashing back onto the ground.
But this time they didn't receive any damage since Orasio used his shield to block the damage by placing it under him, and Stark used his aura.
[Mirror Master HP: 38108/160000]
'Holy SHIT, aren't we doing too much damage to it?' Stark was baffled.
"THIS IS MY WORLD, NOT YOUUUURRRRSSS!" the master repeated, he was in a state close to berserk, and absolutely speachless those puny humans were able to deal so much damage to him in less than five minutes, 'JUST HOW STRONG ARE THEY…'
All he could see were Stark and Orasio's figures, with both their eyes burning with aura, they weren't the most promising domination users for no reason it seemed.
"THE MASTER OF MIRRORS," he activated his ultimate skill, and suddenly the area they were in changed.
