Chapter 204: Monster Scent and Invincible Token
[You are affected by 'Monster Scent', thus all monsters will consider you as their own for 10 minutes]
This was the case for both Akira and Stark, and now, both of them were surrounded by ELITE and STRONG monsters, making it impossible for them to escape if they don't end this fight quickly.
All monsters were staring at them, they considered them as monsters too, but it didn't mean they wouldn't enjoy some good ol' monster beef, right?
And so all monsters began to make noises, almost sounding like cheers.
'Never would have I thought the day would come where I would fight a human while monsters spectate it…' Stark let out an exhausted laugh, this situation was truly becoming weirder by the second.
"I believe we should end this quick, I didn't expect for the last sublevel to be so hard," Akira branded his katanas, crouching down slightly and crossing his blades in front of his face.
"…" Stark just smiled.
And so…
~FWISH~
Akira dashed at him again.
"LUNAR STRIKE!" his first one had been interrupted by the announcement, but this time he was confident in his victory.
"Crimson Ball Transmission," Meanwhile, Stark calmly summoned the ball in his hand and sent it toward the end of the hallway, right before the horde of monsters.
Akira jumped in the hair, his two katanas facing downward as he was ready to hit the ground with all his might, their tips almost on the verge of erupting with aura.
And so…
~SNAP~
~FWISH, BOOOOM~
He hit the ground and his attack erupted, creating a massive explosive that even made the monsters back down as they didn't want to get hit.
"-2172!" even while wearing armor, Akira still received damage as the explosion was much stronger.
But…
"I know I didn't hit you…" he sighed as he turned around, and saw Stark smiling, far from where he was, right in front of a minotaur with a golden hammer in its hands, "Didn't expect to hit you anyway…"
Akira was frankly tired of Stark, he was playing so defensively, not attacking unless he was confident he would hit.
"Crimson Spears!" he summoned his three spears above his head, then threw them in Akira's direction, who easily deflected them all using his blade, then closed the distance between them.
And at that very moment…
"Well…" he sighed, "I guess it was to be expected, but now that I've got you trapped…"
Was it because he was put against a wall? Was it because he knew nothing he did would work on Stark? Was it because he really didn't want to lose against him…
In the end… surrounded by monsters, in a place far from everything, where the two of them were fighting to the death… for the first time in his life… he was going to be a coward.
Well, not really a coward since he is allowed to do that, but a 'coward' in his own rules as he vowed to always fight against his opponent fairly, each victory bringing him intense satisfaction.
They were in a place not even known by anybody but them, and people outside were probably enjoying their daily lives, yet here they were… in this trial, in this hell…
No one would know about their existence, even if they did.
And Akira… would never allow that.
His expression darkened as he reached into a pocket in his armor that held all his items, and he pulled out… the [Invincibility Token].
[Invincibility Token: Will grant you invincibility for the next five minutes following the usage of this token, meaning that no participant or monster can do any damage to you, one time use]
He had earned it fair and square by killing, and he truly just wanted to use it against the warden at the start.
But now that he was forced to do it in front of another human… he would give it his all.
"Congratulations, Chosen," Akira laughed loudly, his handsome face contorted into a wide grin, "You truly pushed me to the edge, now you shall learn your mistake…"
The token was like a simple coin the size of a human palm, it was made out of gold, and there was a symbol carved on it: a scale.
[Hold the token in your palm and close your hand, thinking about using it…]
'…' Stark just kept looking at Akira.
And so… Akira did as he was told, the [Invincibility Token] vanishing into particles of gold, seeping into Akira's body.
And with this…
[You are now 'Invincible' for 5 minutes!]
"This was… my victory… FROM THE START," he grinned as he immediately dashed toward Stark.
"…" Stark perfectly knew what he had done, yet he wasn't bothered.
[+1 EGO]
Something inside of him was swirling, ready to come out at any moment, and he felt that the closer the EGO meter got to 100, the harder it would be to contain it.
"MOONLIGHT SLASH!"
"Aura Smash!" Stark summoned his three crimson fists and sent them toward Akira, each exploding in his face.
And yet…
~FWISH, DASH~
He emerged from beyond the crimson smoke of the explosion, unbothered.
"-0! -0! -0!"
In addition to that, a warning appeared in front of Stark.
[You cannot harm someone using the "Invincible Token", just run!]
Stark ignored it as he swiftly backed away, bumping into the body of the minotaur that was behind him.
And then…
~SLASH, SLASH~
Akira slashed twice in Stark's direction.
"Invincible Dodge!" he rolled away, but the minotaur behind wasn't as fortunate.
"-194821! -182710!" and so it fell down, dead.
And instead of being angry or attacking, the rest of the monsters continued cheering.
His [Moon Blades] tainted in monster blood, and his face full of malice, Akira turned around, his pupils not leaving Stark for even a second.
He had never been so confident in his entire life.
'Shit… I need to stop him as much as possible…' Stark thought as he backed away.
[+2 EGO]
It was all or nothing at this point, so might as well use up all of his skills as there was no reason to stop himself anymore: it nothing worked he would run away.
"HEAVEN'S WRATH," he drew a circle in his palm and pointed at the ceiling above Akira, who did notice the attack, but didn't bother to even move out of the way.
~SWISH, BOOOOOM~
The crimson beam erupted from above, hitting Akira straight on as he was in the radius.
And yet… after a few seconds… he emerged from the other side, unharmed and unaffected by Stark's strongest attack.
"Is that all?" Akira smiled, even his face now darkened by his white aura, covering his body completely, much like Stark when it covered his face.
"I always knew you were a coward anyway," Stark laughed, "Using an item to get out of a situation where you would lose, this was totally expected…"
Stark's plan was simply to run away now, the monsters wouldn't attack, and if five minutes was all he needed, then [Double Assault] would definitely help to put some distance even in Akira's [Full Moon Form].
[+1 EGO]
[EGO Meter: 99/100]
And right at that moment… another panel appeared before him.
[The time has come, let the demon out, your EGO shall defeat this fool even in his current state, do not run…]
