Chapter 7 - 7
Chapter 7: CHAPTER 7
When Eva let out a deep breath, his smile widened and he patted her head as though patting a puppy.
"Good girl." He said and his deep voice sounded amused. But when Eva glared at him again, he chuckled lightly before removing his hand off her head.
"Stop doing that. I'm not a child." She muttered as she patted her own head, trying to smooth out any stray hairs.
"Alright, so from this moment on, you're not allowed to leave this house until…" he pointed at the bite mark on his neck, his devilish smile not disappearing. "…this thing here disappears."
He turned around and Eva could only stand there, watching him walk ever so gracefully towards the fireplace and plopped himself down into a plush cushion there, crossing his legs comfortably.
Eva bit on her lips as she began debating with herself inwardly again. Damn. What the hell did I just get myself into? All these are just coincidences and my awful luck for running into such a beautiful… weird man, right? Right? But… what if that handsome devil might actually have an ulterior motive? What if he is just luring me like…
She face palmed, frustrated at her thoughts right now. Well, this was the very first time she ever encountered a situation like this. She did not know how to deal with a man like this when her cold treatment and glares did not seem to ward him off her. And no way! There was absolutely no way this man would bother luring someone like her! If he wanted a woman, he could just make a call and goddesses would come flocking towards him!
"Come over here, pet." His sexy voice echoed and pulled Eva's thoughts back to the present. She returned her gaze to him and saw him there, waving his hand elegantly at her. And Eva did not know why, but she just walked towards him without her even realising she had already done so.
She immediately halted when she realised she was already less than five steps away from him. But she thought that she was still a little light-headed. She had been feeling her head throbbing for a while now since she had woken up. She knew that it was a hangover.
"What's wrong?" he asked when he saw her slight frown.
"Don't you think I should go home first?" Eva retorted quickly, trying to find a way to leave.
Gage tilted his head slightly. "Why?"
"Well, I don't have any clothes with me."
"I'll get someone to buy you everything you need for the time that you are here." He picked up his phone and made a call as he was saying that. And as soon as the call was connected, he continued. "I need clothes for a woman."
"Wait… wait a moment." Eva was flabbergasted at how quick his response was.
Gage lifted a brow at her as he moved the phone away from his ear. "Our bargain is already finalized, pet. I said you can't leave this place until these marks disappear. You agreed earlier. No reneging on your words, pet."
Eva was about to retort again but her head suddenly throbbed painfully, and her hand flew to her head.
"Now go back to that room you came from, my dear pet and take a shower to freshen up. I'll bring your clothes over in a few moments." He waved her off and continued talking to the person on the other side of the phone again.
Eva could only bite her bottom lip in frustration and turned around. For some reason, she felt something peculiar when he had mentioned to her that their bargain was finalised. Was there really something or was it just her overactive imagination?
Her head throbbed again, and this time she groaned out loud, pressing her knuckles into her temples hard as she ascended the stairs again. She realised that she really needed this shower to clear her mind. Maybe that would help her think of something to make him agree to let her go. Or maybe she would just wake up from this weird dream.
…
A little while later inside the luxurious bathroom, Eva let out a deep sigh as she soaked in the tub where she was submerged to her shoulders in hot lavender scented water. This just felt like heaven to her! Then a small laugh escaped her lips as she shook her head a little.
It seems that this was not a dream after all. She really had come across a devilishly handsome but mysterious and weird guy who wanted her to become his temporary maid. She was not laughing because she was going to honour her end of the bargain and act as his maid. Cleaning was easy for her. Though she was raised in a rich family, when she was in boarding school, she had always done her own chores. She can literally do anything, except for cooking. She was totally bad at it. That was why that devil's condition was not a big deal to her… it was just that she had some trouble believing in it. And she really could not quite figure out if he was just doing this for fun or there was some other agenda he was planning at.
The most frustrating thing was that she did not really have a choice right now. She could not afford to make a mistake and create another problem. Especially because this man looked to be filthy rich just judging from the mansion that he is living in. She, of all people, knew just how crazy extremely rich people could get when things did not go their way.
When she was done with her bath and finally stepped out of the bathroom, Eva looked at the clothes that were already neatly laid out on the bed. It was complete even to the point of having a set of undergarments!
Speechless, Eva lifted the pink coloured pyjamas and glanced at the skin-coloured bra and panties. The pyjamas had small bears printed all over.
Again, Eva did not know what to say. When was the last time she had ever worn something so cute and childish such as this? Thinking back, it was about the time when she was still in high school. That devil…
