Chapter 477: The Other Paragons
Chapter 477: The Other Paragons
The crowd gasped as they're watched Guan Yin with her head held high, proud of who she was. No one has expected for a woman to rule a kingdom, let alone the capital kingdom of their continent.
"I have served in the military all my life after I escaped from the tyrants," Guan Yin said. "And I am not ashamed that those tyrants are my brother and my former lover. Yes, I am Wen Yin, the Wen Clan's Lost Flower."
The title of "Wen Clan's Lost Flower" was given by Guan Yin's father after she left when she received the news of her marriage. She knew how power hungry his brother's friend was, that was whys he took it upon herself to leave.
The people thought that the daughter of the previous emperor died due to a natural illness, that was what the emperor told them. He was ashamed that there was someone in his family that tried to escape their duties, afraid that the people would lose their trust in the Wen Clan.
Although it wasn't long before the title was buried, some of the older folks still remembered the fate of the older daughter of the Wen Clan.
"But you are a woman," DongDong stepped forward. He was inside the crowd and now has came out to challenge Guan Yin. "How can a woman rule us, right? If she lets her emotions get to her, what will happen to us?"
"Yeah!" a woman from the crowd yelled in agreement to the old man. "And if you really cared about us, you would've tried to defeat your brother, even if it meant your life. You should've did a noble sacrifice, not hide under his nose like a coward!"
"A coward?" Guan Yin clenched her fists. "I was one of the highest generals of DuDu and he didn't even know it. I got stronger, even stronger that I could kill him in one fell swoop. What noble sacrifice would I make if I did that, right?
"But you're wrong," Guan Yin continued. "When thr Westerners fought DuDu, they have found that he wasn't human anymore, in fact, it wasn't even him that controlled his body. He only got his memories, but the one who ruled us all this time was a creature more vile than a demon."
The crowd gasped at the news. They whispered amongst themselves, afraid of what was going to happen next. A news about a creature more vile than a demon did not sit well in the audience, their hair stood up at this.
DongDong, however, scoffed. "You're making things up. How are we supposed to believe your nonsense? You were his brother, and his bastard friend's fiance. You are not different from them!"
His words struck the crowd with a realization. They nodded at DongDong's words, whispering more amongst themselves. They are now convinced that Guan Yin didn't have what it takes to rule them.
"A Wen Clan member destroyed this kingdom, it would only be right for a Wen Clan member to fix it," Guan Yin said. "And you, old man, does not have anything to do with it?"
"Nothing to do with it?!" DongDong growled. "I have served DuDu all these years, I know everything about this kingdom, more than you do. So just hand the throne over to me, I can rule us. I have always been the advisor and the right hand of DuDu. I know how to work things out and I know how to fix it."
"Oh," Guan Yin pursed her lips. "Then you're the useless one. You served DuDu closely yet you couldn't even try to poison him or something? You're so pathetic, even trying to put the blame on me."
"This" DongDong was stopped by one of his comrades. "What are you doing, Lee?"
"Sir" Lee trailed off. "Give up."
"I can't give up now!" DongDong yelled. "If I can't have the throne, then no one will."
DongDong's head suddenly grew in size. His body became elastic and exploded, showing a thin beast-like creature. He crawled forward, leaping towards Guan Yin who narrowed her eyes.
Elliot was about to jump in, but Lance held her arm out to stop him. The former looked at Lance, "We have to help her."
"No," Frederick stepped forward, leveling to Lance and looked at Elliot. "This is her rights of passage."
"What?" Elliot asked as he slowly relaxed. "What do you mean rights of passage? You planned this?"
"We figured out that there wasn't just one Paragon in the kingdom," Lance said. "A prince wouldn't be left unattended."
"We also found out that there weren't one dead body at the time Licht and DuDu met," Frederick added. "There were three."
"Three?" Elliot gasped. "You mean"
"There are three Paragons that hosted the people here," Frederick smirked. "We took care of the other two, now for the last one."
Elliot relaxed and clenched his fists, watching the creature approach Guan Yin in a stealthy speed and motion. "Please be careful, Guan Yin."
Guan Yin brandished her sword and leaped off of the wooden platform. She ran straight towards the creature and swung her sword, crashing her weapon with the beast's claw. "Hiya!"
The Paragon screeched and fought the woman, effortlessly slashing its claws and tail at her. Guan Yin on the other hand, started to feel the pressure. Her movements were slowly getting sloppy and she could feel the pain upon every hit that the creature would land on her.
When the woman had an opening, the creature did not hesitate to swing its tail at her, throwing her away and landing on a wall where she coughed the pain out. Guan Yin fell to the ground, blood spilling from her lips and her forehead.
"This?" the Paragon that pretended to be DongDong chuckled. "This is what you want to rule you? This is a filth. Nothing, but a weak little flower. You don't deserve to be ruled by someone like this."
The people had already panicked and ran away, screaming. They were running for their lives, afraid that the creature would attack them and feast on their flesh.
"Where are you going?!" the Paragon yelled. "Why are you running?!"
"This" Guan Yin gripped her sword tightly. "This is not over yet!"
The woman yelled and stood, taking a deep breath as she ran straight to the creature. The Paragon smirked and launched both its arms at Guan Yin, slashing its claws at her.
"I am not weak!" Guan Yin yelled. She dodged the claws by rolling to the side, piercing her sword to the ground to stop her and looked up to see the creature in shock. "Women would always fight back. Don't underestimate us!"
"Oh, please," the Paragon laughed bitterly. "Women are weak. Where I came from, the women are used to create more of us. They don't belong anywhere in the ranks. Your bodies are created to pleasure men and create more of you so there are more men to be pleasured."
A rock was thrown from nowhere, hitting the Paragon in the face. He looked to the side and saw a little girl there. "No! You are disgusting!"
"Oh," the Paragon smirked. "I see you want to fight? Then die!"
