Chapter 466: Leviathan and Midnight
Chapter 466: Leviathan and Midnight
A fire broke out in one of the mansions of Cacten, where Midnight, Sun, and Francoise originated. The fire was so big that it scattered to the neighboring mansions and until the entire village was on fire.
"Woah!" a man stood there, watching the fire as his eyes glimmered. "This isn't a natural fire. Look at that black hue out there."
Midnight watched him as he held Sun in his arms. "Who are you?"
The older man smiled and leaned down. "My mame is Reginald, and I'm here to tell you that it's not too late."
Reginald gave Midnight a piece of paper. "This is the address of an orphanage nearby. Go to that orphanage and you'll be fine. Here are some bread and snacks while you're there."
"Bread and snacks?" Midnight asked as he looked at the address. "But sir, this is from another city. It would take us hours to get there."
"Exactly," Reginald smiled just when the bells rang and the announcer yelled.
"Strike warning! A great disaster is coming to Cacten! It is still unidentified, but from the initial readings, it is a Beta level threat."
"Reginald!" the rest of the members of Pentos who were afar called out for him. One of them was a woman whom Lance had met before. "Let's go, Reginald. The Strike is still far. Let's put this fire out first."
With a ruffling of Midnight and Sun's heads, Reginald ran to the fire to put it out. Midnight did as was instructed and held Sun in his arms while they walked to the other city.
It was a heavy burden for him to leave everything behind. Even when he was mistreated by his foster parents, he had friends back in Cacten. Whenever his foster parents would starve him, Francoise the blacksmith would show up and feed them.
"Midnight?" Sun called out as they climbed a mountain to reach the other city. "What's that?"
Midnight turned to watch the city and saw a giant black shadow of a wolf destroy half of it with one attack. Reginald leaped from one of the houses along with the rest of his guild and attacked the wolf.
"Be careful," Midnight whispered. "And thank you, Mr. Pentos. And to you Mr. Leviathan. I owe you my life."
"You don't," Leviathan said. "You just have to fulfill our promise."
Midnight glanced at Sun, getting more courage as the younger brother looks at him with teary eyes. "I will protect you no matter what, okay? No matter what happens."
Midnight eventually arrived at the orphanage that Reginald led him to. There, he met Galaxia and his world turned completely upside down.
Things started to get brighter for him until he tried to wear trousers and male clothing. He would have dreams, very bad dreams. These dreams would haunt him and it would make him feel suffocated until it was hard for him to breathe.
The darkness of the past still haunts Midnight even when it was nowhere near him. This led him to wear female clothing until he grew up and moved out of the orphanage. He went to the capital of Avancia and eventually joined Frederick's guild.
But during all this time, Leviathan was left sleeping inside of him. Midnight knew that there will come a time where the demon would ask for the help he received and this was it.
Midnight smiled as everything in his life replayed to him like a scene from a play. He smiled and curled into the consciousness of Leviathan as he fell into a deep slumber, letting his body taken away from him.
"Thank you" Leviathan trailed off just before Midnight fell asleep. "Midnight."
Leviathan was on par with the Man as they fought neck on neck in the air. Their moments were equal and their powers seemed to dance as the lights from them ignited the night sky.
"Heavy Sanctum!" Leviathan slammed his palms to the ground and conjured a giant stone monolith. The monolith had engravings on it with symbols that were unknown to humans.
These engravings glowed with a dark red light and similar symbols appeared on Leviathan's body. He ripped the dress that Midnight wore and it was replaced with a slender armor that fit his body perfectly.
This armor looked thin, but it was made of pure darkness. It could withstand attacks that were able to destroy cities. That's how strong this armor was.
Meanwhile, the Man was unfazed by all of this. He stood there in the air and watched Leviathan change, sighing. "You dare undress in front of me when all I have in my eyes is APRIL. Die!"
Leviathan cringed and shook his head. "That kid is barely legal. And you're old enough to be his dad. Why so obsessed with him?"
"Your pervese thoughts will not invade my mind," the Man said. "I want APRIL's blood and power, not his body."
"Then why did you" Leviathan sighed. "You know what, let's just fight."
He leaped off of the ground and conjured a giant crystal sword. He raised this sword and swung it forward, creating a wave of pure energy and launch it to the Man.
The latter raised his finger and created a black orb of energy. He also fired this attack, making it meet with Leviathan's attack in the middle and explode into a force strong enough to rip the stone roofing off of DuDu's castle.
The two weren't affected by this force. Instead, they continued fighting, clashing their swords as they battled for dominance. Their auras had long since reached the entire span of the continent, shaking all the others to their core in both fear and awe.
"They look so evenly matched," Mammon said to Saitan as he helped him stand. From the two of them, he had less injuries because of the help from the skills he stole. Saitan used blood magic and had no other choice but to use some of his own blood to cast skills, this was why he was severely weakened after the fight.
"I don't think this will last long," Saitan said. "Leviathan thrives when the blood moon appears."
"So?" Mammon asked. "What now?"
Saitan took himself off of Mammon and raised both his hands in the air. "We'll create a blood moon."
