Chapter 186: A fight that would decide the war (2)
Felix would lie if he said he wasn't surprised about Marshallo's tenacity. His body was so highly used to battle that it would respond to outside threats even when his consciousness wasn't present inside it.
This cemented the fact that Marshallo had been through an uncountable amount of battles. His scars were one thing, but the experience that was printed so thoroughly in him was the genuine example of a person that had defied death countless times.
Felix dodged another sudden attack as he backflipped away from Marshallo and narrowed his eyes. It was almost like he was fighting a tree!
He couldn't sense anything coming from Marshallo's body, so he couldn't predict his moves. He had only been able to dodge these two sudden strikes because of his body's instincts. He had mastered both killing intent masking and detection through Vangar's memories, but now his killing intent detection skill became useless!
While he could still dodge his attacks, it was way harder than before as he used everything that was at his disposal, to basically look in Marshallo's future and predict what he would do next. Making dodging and countering his attacks easy. Now, he couldn't do that anymore.
It was as if Marshallo had gone one-tier ahead of killing intent masking and made himself feel like an inanimate object right now. He was also near death, so that also made things harder for Felix, as he couldn't hear his breathing as well as before.
All of Felix's ways of countering Marshallo were pretty much unusable now, and if he left him alone, all of the damage he did to him would be healed.
This would lead to all of his work up till now being wasted for nothing!
Of course, Felix would also recover to full power while Marshallo did the same. But Felix didn't want to fight him for an indefinite amount of time, he wasn't like Marshallo as he didn't enjoy battles to such a high level that it could be called an obsession.
While Marshallo would be happy with fighting him for a long time, he wouldn't be.
Felix was a person that enjoyed relaxing, sunbathing, and other cat things. Even though he had evolved to a human, he still enjoyed the same things as before when he was a cat.
Fighting was basically like playing to the current him if his actions would be compared to a normal house cat.
There was a limit to how much playing he would want to have before he went ahead to relax.
He didn't reach that limit yet, but he was still annoyed.
Since he couldn't fight him normally in a melee battle, he would eradicate his unconscious body with an energy attack.
Felix cupped his hands together as he put them in front of his body and started to charge yellow energy in them/ His orange aura fully engulfed him as he used his full power, making sparks fly off from his cupped hands.
When the sparks fell on the marble-like rock of the arena, its white color started to turn black before small holes that closed slowly after they appeared.
Felix's current energy was highly concentrated, and even the marble arena that could withstand the shockwaves from his fight with Marshallo had trouble withstanding it directly.
The energy was so potent and strong that Marshallo's unconscious body had to take a few steps back.
It naturally knew that if the energy attack would hit it with its current injuries. Marshallo would die without a shadow of a doubt!
Just like Felix's body, Marshallo's would act on its own to protect it from outside dangers and keep itself alive, even though Marshallo had multiple lives being God's chosen.
The body tried to escape from the arena and run away from the energy charging Felix, but the moment that happened, Marshallo's body- which was taking one step towards the exit, froze.
Some reason returned to his expression as the white of his eyes disappeared, and pupils appeared within them. Marshallo was so angry he regained consciousness. He was angry at his own body because it would make him look like someone who would abandon the battle midway, a coward!
He clutched his head as his voice shouted in his own subconsciousness:
"I'M NOT A COWARD!"
He started beating his chest as he looked at Felix, who was still charging his energy beam:
"SHOOT ME, I'M NOT A COWARD!"
It seemed that while he became conscious, he wasn't in full mental capacity. Or maybe he just didn't care about losing one life?
Felix didn't have to be told twice as he finished charging his attack and launched it directly towards Marshallo!
Marshallo crossed his arms in front of him in an X as he was ready to take the attack head-on!
"SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT, FELIX!"
The immense beam of yellow energy engulfed Marshallo, who just took it without any complaints. His body was slowly disintegrating under Felix's energy beam as the life faded away from his drying husk. He was being slowly baked under the constant assault of Felix's energy attack, but he didn't try to step away from the beam as he only endured it with his physical body!
Maybe this was his way to tell his own body that he wouldn't run away from anything, regardless if it would kill him or not.
Felix started to breathe roughly as his arms dropped to the sides of his body. His body shook for a second before he took in a deep breath and restored his stamina. The energy attack used most of his energy as he put everything he had into it to evaporate Marshallo's tough body.
He took a few steps forward as he observed the blackened road in front of him. Instead of the white marble-like rock, there was only a scorched dark patch in front of him. A standing skeleton which had its arms crossed in an x, stood there unmoving as its gaze was pointed directly towards Felix, seemingly saying he was ready for another baptizing.
Felix took a few steps forward, almost falling to his knees due to hex energy exhaustion. However, he still got up and approached the white skeleton, he wasn't sure where Marshallo would revive, so he needed something to restore his power as soon as possible. He opened his mouth wide as he started to crunch on the hard shiny white bones that Marshallo left behind.
Felix's energy was immediately restored as he continued to crunch on Marshallo's skeleton, from the arms to the leg bones, until the chest ones were done leaving only the skull behind.
Felix's insides were bloated with energy as he started to use the breathing techniques absorption ability, immediately redirecting the energy that was bloating his insides towards his organs, skin, and muscles...
His strength increasing by another tier, but not making a breakthrough in his aura level. And after his death, his aura level had reached the 3rd level and remained there. Because he had eaten Marshallo's skeleton, he went halfway to the 3rd level, and he might have even reached the 4th level if he ate his whole body, showing how much energy Marshallo's body contained.
"This is good enough for now... I will win."
Felix clenched his fist as he waited in the arena for Marshallo to return.
Back in the midst of the invader ships Marshallo's naked body appeared, he clenched his head for a few seconds before shaking his head as he glared at nothing for a few seconds then shouted towards a nearby ship:
"GET ME SOME ARMOR!"
The lower half of the armor he previously wore was thrown directly towards him as he grabbed it and put it on before he intended to immediately go back to where he deployed the arena and continue the duel with Felix. He might have lost the second round, but there were still 4 rounds left inside him.
But before he could take a step forward, the twins appeared in front of him, kneeling.
Marshallo narrowed his eyes as he was ready to slap the twins across the face and throw them away from his face. He didn't want to deal with them right now, and he still wanted to fight Felix as he wasn't fully satisfied.
"High general Marshallo, there is a message from their highnesses back on the home planet... they..."
But Marshallo couldn't give less of a damn whatever those uppity royals had to tell him.
He was ready to slap the twins away, only for him to feel a weakness appearing in his body. He swayed on his feet as he looked at the twin's mouths, which curved upward, showing a sinister smile on their half faces.
"Do you think that you are the same after your death? While our gods are strong, there is a limit to how much your bodily strength will recover after your death. You don't have enough time to fully recover!"
Marshallo frowned as he looked at his hand, which was slowly turning purple. The twins had used poison on him?
"This is the message from their highnesses: 'We don't need you anymore, the high general position was transferred to the Marx twins.' What do you think about it you little shit? You aren't so hot anymore. Defying the royal family, are you?"
Marshallo laughed as he cut off his poisoned hand and let the black blood flow out of his body until only red blood remained, and then another hand slowly grew out of his stump. Unlike Felix's attacks which could stop his regenerative abilities. The twins didn't have such strength, even though he was currently weakened by quite a bit.
"You two really think that you can take care of me, huh? It seems I have been too easy on you during your early training..."
A scary aura appeared behind Marshallo, which was no different from the one he first unleashed when he introduced himself to Felix... but unlike before, this one was way more refined and less wild. There was a tinge of control in it which showed that something changed within him after his death.
