I have Nine Lives

Chapter 171: Energy core infusion and sacrifices

Chapter 171: Energy core infusion and sacrifices

Basil continued to walk forward while Vangar and Felix followed him from behind.

The walls that surrounded them were getting darker and darker, and as time passed, the temperature that surrounded them was getting colder and colder.

It was obvious that the location they were going to was a very important secret in the base as there was no one else around them. At first, people were walking around from place to place. But the further they went down the corridor, the fewer people there were until there were none anymore.

The place became deserted as they reached a giant metallic grey gate with a small panel near it that was of the same color.

Basil walked in front of the panel and put his eyes over it as a wave of light came out of the panel and entered Basil's eyes, scanning them. After that, he put his hand on the panel, and his hand was scanned as well.

The gigantic door started to slide up as it opened, and a deep coldness started to leak out of the room ahead.

The cold seeped into Felix's bones as he started to feel lightheaded. However, he immediately concentrated his energy, and the cold was negated.

As they entered the room, the gate behind them closed slowly, leaving them inside the room...

Felix looked around as Basil continued to walk forward, and as he looked to the left, he saw a gigantic glowing reactor...

The reactor was glowing red and green, and it gave off the feeling that it had unlimited energy inside of it.

It was a rather strange sensation, and Felix continued to walk behind Basil, but there were more interesting things around that he couldn't help but glance at them.

Besides the energy reactor, there were capsules filled with iced contents that were unseeable due to the fogged glass screens.

It was a rather eerie atmosphere, but Felix had been through worse, and he wasn't affected at all. The same could be said about Vangar as well.

Their surroundings kept changing as they walked further into the room.

Failed experiment strewed around. Vats of acid and other similar things could be seen around.

They were all glowing with an eerie color just like the reactor, which showed that all of the energy that kept this room running came from the same spot.

Basil continued to walk forward without saying anything, which added to the eerily creepy situation making it even weirder.

Felix could feel the temperature going down as they reached the end of the room. It was so low that frostbite started to appear on his armor.

However, the cold didn't have any effect on Felix.

Basil finally stopped as he looked back at the duo that followed him up till now.

He had no expression on his face as he pressed a few hidden buttons on the floor using his right foot.

Behind him came out a tall ball that discharged electricity from time to time, arcs of lightning appeared around as the ball started to move slowly, but there was no reaction coming from Basil.

There were no explanations up till now, but it was finally time for Basil to talk.

"Felix, come near the energy core and put your hands on it."

Felix did as instructed as he approached the core and put both of his hands on it. Electricity slowly started to course through his armor and body as the AI of the armor also came back to life.

Suddenly out of the ceiling came Willie who dropped unceremoniously on the ground. He looked worn out and pale as he nodded at Basil and then transformed into a batch of white light that inserted itself directly into Felix.

Felix felt his back arch as the energy that was formerly Willie coursed wildly through his body.

He could feel his organs hungrily absorbing the energy as the electricity from the core fused with that energy and purified it.

His whole body started to spasm. But that stopped soon after as he got control of his body.

He could feel his muscles, organs, skin, and bones being reinforced extremely quickly as Willie and the energy from the core were mixing inside of his body and remodeling it along with the help of his special ability.

He could feel that his strength was increasing continuously with no side effects!

Vangar watched from the side then narrowed his eyes as he asked Basil:

"Why am I needed here anyway?"

Basil looked at Vangar and tilted his head to the side as he asked:

"The president didn't tell you?"

Vangar eyes narrowed as he said:

"No, what was he supposed to tell me?"

"Oh, deary..."

Basil put a hand over his face as he continued:

"Well, this is quite embarrassing, you know?"

He pointed towards Vangar as a dangerous glint appeared in his eyes:

"You are also needed for Felix's full evolution as he needs the experiences and power of a general of the federation, and considering you are a veteran, you are the best candidate for that."

Vangar frowned as he took a few steps backward... but then he shook his head as he smiled and said:

"I guess the president thought that I would run away if I heard that beforehand..."

"Well, it could have happened, but considering I'm already here, what else can I do?"

Vangar knew how the federation worked, and if he had doubts, and he could have even run away if he heard beforehand, but now that he was so far inside the special base of the Federation, was there even a chance to run away anymore? It was better just to accept his fate being fertilizer for Felix's growth.

Basil nodded seeing Vangar's reaction and said:

"It seems you are a rather intelligent person. So I won't beat around the bush anymore."

Vangar felt his body being destroyed on a molecular level as Basil looked at him.

His body slowly transformed into a similar ray of light that rushed into Felix's body as Basil controlled it.

Felix's back arched once again as his strength started to skyrocket the second time, his muscles inflated and deflated as they were optimized to the perfect level of strength and speed, creating a perfect muscle balance.

His bones started to harden and crystallize as they reached a hardness that made them pretty much indestructible.

His organs absorbed the remaining energy as they started to perform at a higher level to adapt to his other bodily changes.

The runes all over his body started to glow as he forcefully broke through to the blue level of the breathing techniques before skyrocketing through the level and going into the purple level.

Felix stopped at the middle levels of the purple aura level as the energy that coursed through his body was finally finished.

Then the gigantic core, which he still had his hands on, started to electrocute him continuously, the electricity had literally no level on Felix's current physique. But it was more like a massage that popped his body back into action as it got used to the sudden changes that it went through.

Then the core started to shrink as it became as small as a necklace bead which then inserted itself into Felix's wrist, somehow piercing through his defenses and entering his veins and bloodstream.

Felix felt his consciousness was cloudy as he stood there with his hands in the same position. He didn't remember where he was for a few seconds before he shook his head and then looked around. However, he unconsciously slipped a little bit of his new power as a hole was made on the metal floor he stood on.

His whole body felt hot as he started to scratch his body, unknowingly plowing through the armor that surrounded his body with ease. The AI didn't say anything as it made the armor detach itself from Felix's body and take a distance from him.

Basil was also nowhere to be found.

Skin started to drop off Felix's body as a new one grew at an alarming speed, a third eye opened up on Felix's forehead along with green devilish horns that grew out of the sides of his head.

His nails lengthened before going back to their original length. However, they now turned a deep black color.

His cat tail unknowingly popped out of his butt area, and as time passed, he stopped scratching his body while no more skin fell off his body.

His impressive physique didn't change, and he retained the same skin color, his eyes were still a deep purple, and besides the addition of the third one on the forehead there wasn't a big difference in his looks... that and his new horns.

Also, beforehand his tail and cat ears weren't present in his human form, but now only the tail made itself known.

Felix looked down at his hands as he flexed them with a strange look on his face... he had both the memories of Vangar and Willie surging through his mind right now, so he wasn't in the right state of consciousness right now.

He sat on the cold caved floor underneath him as he put one leg over the other... he needed to enter his mindscape and see through all of the memories of Vangar and Willie to understand what happened.

His emotions were there, but he didn't let them control him. He needed to see for himself why they were sacrificed for his evolution before he went ahead to talk with the president.
