Chapter 148: A real battlefield is different from a simulation (1)

Even though Felix was slowly getting adapted to fighting this tower defense mode.

It didn't mean that he was successfully parrying all of the enemy's attempts to destroy the ship's shield.

He was just one person, and there were multiple flanks that the enemy could use to get around him. The flanks were all defended by Felix's comrades, but his simulated comrades were very inferior compared to the enemy's firepower and numbers.

He was at a total disadvantage here, and he wasn't sure what to do to win this battle.

He did not know military formations, nor was he a good leader. He only had the lead once when Lindo and Diorno gave him that temporary general position.

He felt rather dumb in this situation when he had to make use of his comrades in tactical ways, as he only knew how to charge and fight.

He needed someone else's insight, someone who was experienced in this type of stuff as he didn't learn it until now.

Felix sighed while he parried one more psionic bomb away from reaching the shield and exploding.

He looked around his comrades and decided he needed to do something or else the shield might crack soon anyways.

No matter how hard he tried to defend it.

It was the sad truth as he is just one person, and he couldn't do everything in such a large-scale fight.

He needed helpers. Someone that he could lend his back to, just like he had Lindo before, but Lindo couldn't help him now. He had to take care of his newborn baby alone.

He needed to find someone like Lindo, someone who could watch his back as a true friend would.

It didn't matter if they became friends or not, and all that mattered to Felix was that he got to defend the planet right now as other things can come up later.

This training was vital to him, so he wanted to pass it successfully.

But things didn't always go as you wanted them to.

It was sad to say, but Felix didn't feel like he could defend every place in this situation.

The shield behind him was slowly cracking in other places even though his side remained solid, but as the shield continued cracking, the cracks started to spread even on his side no matter how hard he protected it.

There was no way around it. He couldn't do it, and he had failed another simulation.

He closed his eyes as he waited to be awoken back on the leather chair, but he realized after a few short seconds that he was still on the battlefield.

The battle was still ongoing in front of him, the cracks in the shield were still there, but they were slowly healing.

Felix could feel that his virtual comrades were doing their best to follow his example even though he didn't tell them to do anything.

Both the enemies and the allies were just AIs, but they were learning about Felix and his abilities in real-time.

They were making things more balanced as they gained their intelligence. After all, on a normal battlefield, your comrades would do their best to imitate your morale if you lead the battle, especially if you did morale lifting things as Felix had done.

The tides didn't turn dramatically or anything like that, but at least Felix's comrades started to defend their parts properly.

Well, at least as best as they could considering the strength and technological difference between the two parties.

However, unlike before, when they were only useless baggage, now they actually parried some of the attacks that were being thrown towards them.

Of course, this was the crudest way of fighting a ship battle, but Felix wouldn't have to fight something more advanced until he got real experiences.

For now, he just needed to get himself familiarized with what he needed to do in situations like this.

The battle was still ongoing as Felix's aura continued to flare strongly, boosting the confidence of his allies and annoying the enemies.

Felix's attacks and counters started to thin out the numbers of the enemies. Even though there were a lot of them, their numbers were still finite.

If they couldn't destroy the ship shield of the enemies, they could at least exterminate all of their ground troops!

Felix's eyes started to glow as he started to squeeze the Rubix cubes in his suit dry while turning them to their highest performance at the same time.

He knew that he needed to end this quickly, as the Rubix cube energy that was coursing through his body was getting of lower and lower quality, affecting his battle power.

While he didn't feel like he would get poisoned to death anymore, he still felt a little bit weaker, and this was just the first symptom that came from overdosing on the slightly purified spatial energy.

Felix's eyes became bloodshot as he put his paws together, he had seen Landers and Diorno use these techniques before, and he wanted to see if he could do something similar as it would be of great use here.

If he could use that technique, he could annihilate the ground troops while also shooting at the gigantic enemy ship in front of him as well.

Felix's paws were put close together while he started to sweat under the armor, his body heat was increasing really quickly as the body was enduring the circulation of energy through the blood veins directly instead of the hex veins, which Felix did not have.

This was damaging to his body because it wasn't strong enough to handle such a high accumulation of energy.

Felix's armor started to turn red hot under the continuous energy flow from the Rubix cubes installed in it.

He looked just like the previous crustaceous fellows he fought before.

His face bulged up, as did his muscles while they cried out in pain. He could feel that his body was giving out on him!

However, he didn't stop as it was impossible to do so right now. Once you got on the horse, it was hard to get off.

Felix could feel that his insides were boiling and that his paws were struggling to contain all of the energy that he had gathered in them, but he couldn't discharge it right now, or it would explode prematurely.

He knew that he needed to mold it into a ball, or else the moment he threw the wild energy out, it would explode, which in return would seal the fates of everyone around him, himself included!

His paws trembled as he controlled the wild energy that came from the Rubix cubes, trying to tame it and shape it into a ball to contain all of the explosive power within.

He could feel that some parts of his fur were slowly getting singed, leaving only the scorched skin behind.

The pain that he endured was extreme but knowing it was a simulation and his body was actually ok made him endure everything.

But no matter how much he endured, the pain didn't lessen, so he shouted one more time as he concentrated the energy into his paws and threw them forward into the enemy's direction.

A gigantic explosion occurred a few tens of meters ahead, as a fiery ball of doom that looked like a mini sun exploded amidst the formation of the enemies.

Felix almost collapsed outright as his body spasmed among his comrades, who were trying to resuscitate him, only for his surroundings to grow blurry.

He had done his job, so he was being ejected from the simulation.

Felix woke up back on the leather chair as he looked at Vangar across him, he took off the helmet that was on his head and asked:

"Did I do well this time around?"

Vangar nodded, and gave Felix a round hard candy:

"Take it, it shall reinvigorate your mind after what you have gone through."

Felix took the round hard candy and cracked it with his teeth before eating it, enjoying the taste.

He could feel that his sore mind was slowly getting a little bit better, even though his body didn't take any damage. His mind was a little bit shaken by the intense stimulation of the helmet.

Felix breathed in and out as he stabilized his condition until everything was ok and asked Vangar:

"How much time was it now?"

"Around 9 hours if we count your recovery time."

"So am I ready to be sent to the real battlefields now?"

Vangar pondered for a few seconds before saying:

"Well, I don't see why not, we actually have 2 battlefields that need a leading soldier like you, and you can choose between them."

Vangar created another projection using his armor's special abilities and then pointed towards two red blinking locations on the map that he created.

"The Alpha Zanto location needs you to fight a normal space battle just like you have done in your first simulation."

"The Beta Blinko location needs you to fight a spaceship battle."

"Choose between them, and I will teleport you to the nearest safe place that we have created near the battlefields, then report to the acting general there with my insignia."

Vangar then took the special insignia that had his symbol on it from his armor, which was a small blue fist raised towards the sky, and gave it to Felix.

Felix took the insignia in his paw before putting it in his special bag and looked at the map, not knowing on which battlefield he should go first.

Then after a little bit of thinking, he waved his paw towards the map, indicating which mission he would take.
