Chapter 51: Chapter 51: The Entertainment Activities of Macaques!
Stepping out of this bamboo forest, they arrived in front of the red foxes' enclosure.
The red foxes were still staying in their original enclosure; they would move in with the red pandas eventually.
Since the weather wasn't very hot that morning, it was a time when the red foxes were quite active, and now they were bustling about.
Sugar Pack and Youyou were chasing and frolicking with each other, Youyou running lightly and nimbly up ahead with Sugar Pack happily giving chase behind, his tail swinging back and forth.
Prince, the chubby fox, seemed to want to join in too, but after running a bit, he started to pant and slow down, eventually walking instead of running. In the end, he just sprawled on the ground, spreading out his limbs and stopped moving.
Squinting his eyes, he lay in a relaxed and comfortable posture.
Ah, why should a fox exercise? Isn't it good to be a lazy fox honestly?
Xiaoqiao perched on a thick wooden post, supporting her upper body with her front limbs, and her tail coiled beside her, watching her siblings play.
Ever since they added this wooden post, it had become her exclusive territory, and she liked staying on it most of the time.
Her beautiful silver-black fur, along with a lofty and aloof temperament, made her look like a princess from a distant and mysterious country, sitting in a luxurious palace.
Sugar Pack ran joyously, speeding up and in two steps, he came up alongside Youyou, leaping to intercept her.
Youyou, with her willow-leaf-shaped eyes, displayed a mocking expression, as if saying, you think you can catch me with those silly moves?
She turned with great agility, and her escape route changed in an instant.
However, as Youyou turned, she saw Fang Ye and the others coming over, pausing in surprise, forgetting to run away, and Sugar Pack pounced on her, toppling her over.
She simply went with it, lying on the ground kicking her legs, closing her eyes, and playing dead without moving.
Fang Ye chuckled inwardly, if I hadn't seen your ears still sneakily moving, I almost would have believed it!
And Xiaoqiao, upon seeing Fang Ye, looked quite annoyed, she glared at him before turning away, leaving only her bushy tail facing the people.
Hmph, I don't want to see you!
Sugar Pack, however, was quite happy, running over with his tail waving like a flag and making a sticky cry, "Yaah~~".
As if he were greeting him: "Good morning, Director!"
"Wow, so cute!"
"Look at its tail, it looks so fluffy, I really want to touch it!"
Two girls with eyes shining bright approached the metal fence, crouched down, and tried to beckon Sugar Pack in hopes of a response.
And Sugar Pack cooperated well, lying on the ground exposing his white belly for business.
"Chirp chirp chirp~"
"Ah, why is it so cute!" the girl in the red dress excitedly held her cheeks in her hands, swaying side to side.
Even though she was a woman in her twenties, at work, at that moment she acted just like a little schoolgirl.
The boys were much more reserved than the girls, but from the eager looks in their eyes and the smiles on their faces, they too adored these fluffy cuties.
"That lazy one lying there is too funny, looks like a fat house cat that hates exercise."
"I like the one on the wooden post, the silver-black fur is so beautiful."
"It does look a bit aloof, it doesn't care about us at all, but this one is better."
Fang Ye explained with a smile, "This one is called Sugar Pack; among the several red foxes, it's the most sociable and gets very happy seeing visitors. The slacker's name is Prince; he doesn't like to exercise, just loves to eat, he's pretty much a pig born in a fox's body.
Playing dead—uh, the sneaky one that slipped away is called Youyou; she's a bit timid and scared of people, her best feature is her legs, nothing says tall, black-stocking cool beauty like her. The one on the post is called Xiaoqiao; she has a rather arrogant personality and especially dislikes being touched. Because of that, she was mad at me for quite a while."
The crowd was amazed, "These foxes actually all have their own names."
"It turns out that even among the same species of animals, each individual has a lot of different personalities. I used to think they were all pretty much the same."
"Not only is the zoo director knowledgeable, but he's also very loving, intimately understanding their personality traits," said the young man in the black shirt.
Fang Ye looked at him in surprise, not having realized earlier that you were also a handsome guy.
Monkey Mountain.
Several five-meter-tall tree trunks were inserted around Monkey Mountain, connected by specially made metal ropes into two parallel rope bridges with a gradient.
The length of the ropes was longer than the distance between the tree trunks, causing the rope bridges to naturally sag in the middle with a certain curvature.
This was a newly installed resting platform for Monkey Mountain.
Although it looked rudimentary, the macaques were very fond of the new resting platform, having become very adept at playing on it just a few days after installation.
A macaque was walking halfway up Monkey Mountain when it suddenly grabbed a piece of rock in front of it, placed its back foot on it, and with a powerful push, sprung up high into the air with a "whoosh."
"Oh!"
Someone couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.
In midair, the macaque extended its monkey arms, deftly and accurately grabbed the rope two meters away, and its back feet quickly hooked on, swinging its body downward.
As the rope bridge swayed, it used the swinging momentum to stretch out its arm and seize another rope.
Then it sat astride the rope bridge, merrily swinging on it like a swing.
Even the most skilled acrobatic performers among humans couldn't complete that flashy sequence of moves as effortlessly as it just did.
On the rope bridge, there wasn't just one monkey; some were holding onto the upper part with one hand and stepping on the lower part with one foot, still leisurely scratching their necks. Others were hanging underneath the rope bridge, moving upside down as if walking on the ground. Find more tales at m-vl-em,py-r
The swinging ropes didn't affect them at all.
At the edge of the resting platform, a monkey stepped on a slanted support, jumped down, climbed back up to Monkey Mountain, leapt from midair to grab the rope bridge, and cycled through these actions, playing tirelessly.
What need was there for animal performances? Displaying natural behavior is the best form of animal performance.
The crowd watched, dumbfounded. Although everyone knew that climbing and jumping were monkey's specialties, they had no concept of it until they saw it with their own eyes. It was just, oh, monkeys are good at jumping, they move flexibly.
Now they finally understood that monkeys were so agile. They climbed and moved with such ease on the dramatically swaying ropes, demonstrating such excellent balance that the ropes seemed to become an extension of their limbs!
This was also one of the meanings of a zoo. Watching these vibrant creatures perform all sorts of wondrous actions, the direct impact on the soul, the shock felt, was a hundred times, a thousand times more intense than anything seen in books or on television.
Under Fang Ye's leadership, the crowd toured the entire zoo.
During the zoo visit, the mentality of the young people gradually changed. They had initially been brought along by Old Wang to play without much interest, even thinking it was an inconvenience that interrupted their gaming, somewhat reluctantly. But later they fell in love with the place and genuinely thanked Old Wang for discovering a treasure trove of a leisure spot!
At last, they arrived at the newly constructed mini farm, where cute and fluffy alpacas were leisurely strolling and grazing on the grassland. This was an area where visitors were allowed close interaction, feeding, and taking photos.
After reminding them of the precautions, the animal keeper brought over a bucket of carrots to distribute.
Everyone personally fed the alpacas carrots, watching their lips move as they chewed, finding it quite fresh and interesting.
All exclaimed that it was truly worth it today!
"It's my first time touching an alpaca!"
"Took so many interesting photos today! I'm going to post them on my social circle and also promote Linhai Zoo a bit."
"Next time I have a holiday, I want to bring my family here to have fun."
