I Hate Systems

Chapter 1099: Kidnapping Slayer

"Wha…what…w-what is happening?" Zaira was unable to handle her emotional distress, sensing the quarantine area collapse as the sealed Systems within broke free. And now, they were rampaging throughout the System World, causing a lot of problems.

It had to be noted that these Systems were part of the army geared to face Mystique. So, they were elites in their respective grades. Therefore, it wasn't easy for the rest of the Systems of similar grades to face them, resulting in countless losses.

As both sides were Systems, they fought while consuming the ambient Mental Energy in the ground of the System World. One side was normal as all Systems consumed Mental Energy upon arriving at the System World.

But the other side, when it consumed Mental Energy and took that into its body, the madness creeping within mixed into the Mental Energy. And when it unleashed that Mental Energy out, the surroundings were polluted.

The System World was gradually being polluted. Of course, the System World was so massive that a mere forty thousand plus Systems would need tens of thousands of years to fully pollute the place.

But that was besides the point. To date, Zaira had yet to figure out a method to solve the corruption, which was why she had quarantined those Systems in the first place. And now that they were spreading out, more areas would have to be quarantined.

And the infection might also spread to other Systems.

"Are you distracted, my lady?" Mascot laughed as he flashed through the skies and danced while unleashing blade beams that cracked the earth.

Even from the breach, Mascot could sense the madness springing around in the System World, 'Mystique is personally taking action. That's good.'

The fact that Mystique took action came as a surge of confidence boost to Mascot. After all, even when Mystique promises to do something, he was so unstable that it would take decades or even centuries before the same collective consciousness returns to keep up the promise.

Most of the time, the situation would have changed drastically by then, so much so that there was no need for the promise to be upheld anymore.

Therefore, all the Genre Representatives were pretty used to Mystique failing to keep his promises. He was just that type of Genre Representative. But one thing was sure. If he took action, the consequences would be chaotic enough to warrant his rank as the strongest and most fearsome Genre Representative.

Of course, it wasn't Mystique doing this but Compass Carburettor. But thanks to the stunt he pulled before, Mascot was fooled into believing it was Mystique behind the rampage of the maddened Systems.

Therefore, Mystique stably fought as his role dictated, as the reigning collective consciousness wasn't replaced.

"Don't you dare block my path!" Zaira groaned as she tanked Mascot's attack and retaliated, sending Mascot flying away. She then bellowed, "Slayer, Rahakh! Come and fight Mascot!"

Seated in the centre of the System World, protected by two Grade 3 Systems was the Representative System, Slayer. As the Representative System was the sole entity capable of controlling the Genre Representatives, it was given the utmost importance and protection by Zaira.

The fact that two Grade 3 Systems were placed as guards spoke volumes.

But now that the maddened Systems were rampaging around in the System World, only Zaira could cull them and throw them back into quarantine. The longer she delayed, the worse the pollution would become.

No other System was fast or efficient enough to do this.

Slayer had been focusing all his attention on controlling the Genre Representatives in the fight. It was a sensitive issue. After all, he had to actively control them and vary the size of the Representative System fragment in them according to their power fluctuation.

Otherwise, Magister's case would repeat. Even though most Genre Representatives weren't as versatile and equipped as Magister, not to mention daring enough to venture into the abyss of the unknown, it still couldn't be said. A Genre Representative could escape his control if he relaxed.

The moment a collective consciousness in a Genre Representative changes, their power level would wary. If they become stronger, the size of the Representative System fragment in them should be increased. To allot for that, Slayer would have to reduce the size of the fragment in another Genre Representative.

Micromanaging was absolutely necessary. Therefore, Slayer had been busy like a donkey. As the situation was becoming dangerous, Zaira had no other choice but to bring even him to the frontlines.

After Magister escaped, a good portion of the Representative System was free. So, Slayer could personally fight without any problems.

"Coming!" Saying so, Slayer nodded as his two bodyguard Grade 3 Systems accompanied him. The three vanished and arrived at the breach, ganging up on Mascot immediately, "You should stop pestering Zaira."

"The rat is here!" Mascot laughed in surprise, "How's life as a System treating you?"

"Better than I had expected." Slayer snorted as he condensed a spirit sword and slashed at Mascot. The Representative System was capable of harnessing the powers of all the Genre Representatives in its control.

So, even though it was no longer a Grade 4 System, Slayer's power was still overwhelming. With him and two Grade 3 Systems, Mascot was kept at bay, allowing Zaira to vanish and focus on the rampaging Systems.

Keuk!

Suddenly, Slayer grunted, shouting in shock, "What the…Anak! Why's he gotten so powerful all of a sudden?"

"Damn youuuu!" Anak's shout resounded once again as the energy streams of all the Xianxia worlds succeeded in reinforcing him. The reigning collective consciousness changed as suddenly, intense arrogance gushed out of him like a torrent.

The Representative System fragment in him had to grow larger to keep up with the changes. The more Anak rampaged around in an effort to break free, the more the Representative System's strength was diverted to him.

Soon, Slayer became weak enough that he couldn't face Mascot anymore, increasing the pressure on the two Grade 3 Systems protecting him. They had to take on the brunt of Mascot's attacks, overwhelmed enough to not be able to focus on Slayer at all.

A few minutes later, when Anak's strength increased to the limit, Slayer's main body within the System World was at its weakest, gritting his all to ensure Immortal wouldn't break free.

At this moment, three entities—Grade 1 Systems—stealthily appeared behind him. Among them, the weakest—Bully System—tapped him on the shoulder, causing him to turn back in confusion and cuss out, "A Grade 1 fart dares to distract me?"

"Distract?" The Bully System laughed as it punched Slayer in the face; Slayer and the three systems vanished from the System World.
