Chapter 71 - A Husband Gets Healed!
There was no way for Kyoya to just calmly sit and wait for the healing to be done. The healing of his wife is also not trained at all, only small wounds could be healed in an instant. There is naturally more to healing than just passing down the healing energy.
Xaya was not really thinking about these things at all, believing that with the book of techniques from her master she would be able to heal her husband no matter what. That is naturally wrong.
The best method is to guide the healing power directly to the wound. In order to do that, the healer has to see through the wound; it's depth, how much has been lost, and what kind of technique had been used to inflict it. There were a lot of aspects that had to be taken into consideration!
The lady couldn't see through it at all, as she was the novice and her class was simply made out of her wish. This wish was all sweet and good, but when the opponent had truly dealt a lot of damage to her husband, Xaya proved to be useless.
The medicine was doing more and her healing powers were wasted as she was spreading them around carelessly.
"Husband… I will heal you… quickly… I will."
The tears clouded the beautiful violet jewels which caused Kyoya to feel more pain. He rebuked his wife softly, then urged her to focus on the healing.
"I feel better now that you think about me instead of how useless your technique is."
"Husband…"
Xaya bit her lips, then spread the bluish light around her husband. This light was different from all the healing powers as it utilized the connection of Kyoya to the death castle. She was using souls to heal him!
There was a fine amount of these souls in Xaya's body, so she was not worried about running out of resources. But Kyoya was constantly cursing and thrashing a little from the pain that was stinging nonstop across his body.
His bones were also playing some music that belonged to the eerie kind of music.
"Kyoya!"
Xiaoxiao rushed to Kyoya, her eyes also worried. She had taken a liking to Kyoya as he was a good friend to talk with. The husband himself liked to talk with her because of Xaya, who always deterred others with her yandere aura or 'filth titles'. They were good friends!
"Miss Xaya, you should focus on his spine and chest! I have a medicine that can be mixed with other ones, so please, allow me to treat him."
"You can… touch husband…"
"Thank you."
The lady put her spear aside, then reached for her backpack. Rummaging through it roughly, Xiaoxiao did her best to take out the medicine as fast as possible. When she did, the fresh smell spread around them.
It was probably a little costly medicine.
"No need… Xiaoxiao…"
"Shut up and lie down."
The lady spread the cold cream across Kyoya's chest, then he truly got forced to lie just from her eyes alone. He also couldn't look into Xaya's eyes as those were just too watery. Kyoya was sure that there were a lot of thoughts running through Xaya's mind.
He himself had those.
The most dominating thought could be described with the words of the already dead adventurer 'Instead of wearing armor, you wear a wife?' The words weren't the same but held the same meaning.
Kyoya was feeling closer to the fated path and with the knives in his hand, he had to keep close contact with his enemies. How can he keep Xaya on his back if he does so? As for his wife, she was thinking about the fated path as well.
Being a husband's support is something she enjoys and loves, but the fact that she couldn't help him in a battle, then heal him properly after a strong attack had left a lot of scars in her heart.
She began pondering about the adventurer's life more seriously.
It was good…
Kyoya knew that it was good.
Though the price he paid… was kinda too much with all the bones cracking and flesh splitting up. The husband also couldn't forget about Xiaoxiao. She had fought alone and even used a special medicine.
"Xiaoxiao, I will repay that in the future… The stronger medicine will be in yours… inventory…"
"Don't talk… I am always willing to go for, even for the innocent and just new party members… If I don't, then I feel like I won't be able to keep my conscience clear."
Since the medicine has been spread across Kyoya's body, Xiaoxiao couldn't offer more. She looked at the three energies healing the husband, then she killed the time by going back to the past.
Her words were heard by the couple.
"It was in the past… After struggling in numerous parties, I found a party that I could call a family… It was so nice to be with them, laughing and fighting… crying as well… We had gone through a lot. It all happened across three months or so… Back then, we were close to getting enough achievements to go to the higher floor."
So they had faced the dungeon. The dungeons are a great achievement in itself because they clear the floor from abnormalities. The stronger dungeon, the better. The party of Xiaoxiao had then faced defeat.
And to save the youngest and most cute lady in their family, they had sacrificed themselves. Of course, they would die anyway, but by sacrificing, they still believed that at least a few family members would survive.
Their belief got answered.
Xiaoxiao and two more adventurers had survived, but upon leaving the dungeon's lands, the adventurers had raised their weapons at them with a clear goal - equipment, money, and also… body of a lady.
Back then, Xiaoxiao was only sixteen years old. Yet again, the young Xiaoxiao got the priority to survive.
And so she did, but with the price of her last surviving members dying as a result.
"Is it silly? I always feel like I must save someone… or repay them somehow… So I do my best to save no matter what situation. I can not become a permanent party member because of that… The adventurers must know when to sacrifice, but I don't."
"It is not silly… We all have our goals. No, we need goals to keep living… a fulfilling life."
"Goals… I believe I will have my conscience satisfied when I reach the goal of my adventure."
Xiaoxiao smiled, feeling somewhat refreshed. She then glanced at Xaya and left the couple behind as they also need some time alone. When she distanced herself a little, the rough coughing assailed her ears.
It was the muscular man, the believer of Lord Hecas.
"The God of Vitality… You got a technique from his temple."
Xiaoxiao said it out loudly. It was another lesson for the husband. Though it couldn't be seen with the naked eye, Kyoya had to be a believer… His techniques were random, but when Xiaoxiao peeked at the X mark on the brawny man's back, she gasped.
It was… deeply dug… The blood and flesh were also mixed, flowing down to stain the rest of his body. The grotesque sight was one thing, but this adventurer couldn't be spared.
She saves people and has a gentle heart.
But life has already stained that fragile organ.
"You must be killed... The worst that can happen in the adventurer's life is the fallen coming back to bite in retaliation."
Xiaoxiao's spear lit up.
A spear candle title has been put on her after the tragedy that had befallen. It was due to the struggles she had been facing with herself… Instead of fighting and trying to save others, people had put her on the job to just lighten up the unknown lands. Such things had also brought up a lot of pain toward Xiaoxiao's heart.
But now, as her eyes landed on the ignited tip, she felt less pain than ever before. The memories associated with that spear candle flashed like usual yet she felt different. Feeling as if progress had been made on her road, Xiaoxiao raised the spear, then it fell down… beheading the muscular man.
"Ah! Don't scare me like that."
Her victim turned into EXP, so Xiaoxiao got startled. But it was just the husband's doing to which she quickly remembered. Xiaoxiao just rebuked Kyoya a little, then went around to gather the equipment that can be sold.
In the meantime, Kyoya turned his eyes to Xaya.
"Abilities can be gained from the temple, but we have it easier by quest from your master… I also have it easier… as I just have to fight… But does he have his own temple?"
It was just a pure curiosity right here.
The husband was aware that the world is brutal and vicious, but everything has two sides. There were also good things that bring laughter and happiness. Some things held various mysteries, pulling many people to reveal those. The world was not that bad anymore…
The best comparison would be…
'Instead of seeing the world through a monitor, I want to see it with my eyes… And that's how I also make my living.'
Building up a strength, cleaning up the monsters, and seeing the brand new world as a reward.
'Meeting new people is also nicer. It's not a mere chat.'
Kyoya laughed, then Xaya answered his question.
"Master doesn't need believers. Those who die are like believers anyway. People die and die and die… Why would he need believers? He just needs disciples to keep them moving around to settle a few things."
"Haha! It sounds kinda funny."
"Why?"
"I don't know, but it does."
The mood seemed to return, even if it was a little. In this case, Kyoya didn't plan to wait and straight went to the crux of his thoughts.
"Xaya, you can't be on my back anymore as I fight…"
