Chapter 41 - 41 Thank You for Your Hospitality
41 Thank You for Your Hospitality
As Cheng Lang lifted Xing Shu’s chin, he noted that the marks on her cheek had disappeared. He asked curiously in a low voice, “What’s with the smile?”
“Young Uncle, have you read ‘The Little Prince’?” Xing Shu’s erudition had also fostered her to speak with a mellifluous voice and tone—unbeknown to her—that was also very seductive. There was a phrase in ‘The Little Prince’—’please tame me’.
Cheng Lang was a devout Buddhist in everyone’s eyes; akin to a flower on the precipice. Women placed him on the altar to worship; yet at the same time, they also yearned to devour him. Everyone wanted to get up close and personal with him, even if it meant as a subservient pet.
Cheng Lang met Xing Shu’s eyes and suddenly patted her cheek. “Don’t be so wild.”
Although he rejected her, his eyes were smiling. Xing Shu knew that her words had pleased Cheng Lang. However, Xing Shu did not pursue any further; he was her sugar daddy after all. It was fine to tease him occasionally, but if she went overboard, she might just die without knowing why.
Xing Shu stayed in Manor No. 1 until Friday before returning to her apartment. She had thought that she would be sent back the day she woke up, but Cheng Lang had not said anything. When she tried to flirt with him last night, he did not seem to have any reaction. Yet, in the blink of an eye, he pressed her against the huge window wall.
“You don’t want your hand anymore?” Cheng Lang’s indifferent tone contradicted his current actions.
As Xing Shu sucked testingly on Cheng Lang’s Adam’s apple, his eyes smoldered instantly and his voice became even raspier. “Does Cheng Xingyang know that you’re so wild in bed?”
Xing Shu could not remember her reply; she was lost in the throes of passion. The crackling sound of burning wood rang in her ears, and flames of various shapes danced in front of her eyes. The pain gradually disappeared, replaced by an indescribable numbness. As she lay exhausted under Cheng Lang after it all, she thought she heard him say softly, “Thank you for your hospitality.”
Xing Shu’s ears burned at the recollection. She rubbed her ears and tried her best to focus on the computer. The issue pertaining to the R&D building would be exposed today. Among the few directors involved, Cheng Gang would definitely be the one affected the most. However, Old Master Cheng probably would not allow Cheng Lang to eliminate so many people at once; so he would choose one to make an example out of.
Xing Shu’s face turned glacial at the thought of Cheng Gang.
12:00 p.m.: Cheng Corporation Group announced the position elimination of Cheng Xingyang as Director of M&A.
12:10 p.m.: Cheng Corporation Group announced the position elimination of Cheng Gang on the Board of Directors.
12:12 p.m.: An important memo sent directly by the President’s assistant to all departments—requiring strict compliance by each department—circulated in Cheng Corporation Group and caused a huge uproar.
Xing Shu had already been kicked out of the work group chat by Hu Jie and was also unfriended by several colleagues. She had to go to Cheng Corporation Group’s official website to view this circular. Xing Shu raised her eyebrows casually at the news.
Before Cheng Lang’s return to Cheng Corporation Group, the management unilaterally decided on the hiring and firing of staff at their whims and fancies. However, this circular classified all employees into four categories according to their performance and values.
The first category was low performing employees with grossly incompatible values with the company—not to be in employment with Cheng Corporation Group.
The second category was low performing employees with compatible values with the company. Such employees would be given a chance to transfer. For instance, if a low performing employee in the procurement department requested for a transfer to a different position, the company would give him/her a chance.
The third category was the core workforce of the company.
The fourth category was high performing employees with compatible values with the company—the company’s treasures.
In addition, there was another category of employees outside of these four categories—high performing employees with incompatible values with the company. Such difficult employees would be rid of immediately as they would be a menace to the company when they attain leadership positions through unscrupulous means.
Xing Shu understood the hidden power behind this circular and vaguely sensed the turmoil in Cheng Corporation Group.
