Chapter 22
The Second Xing Linlin
Xing Guotai’s face did not look too good either. Every word in the diary was filled with concern and panic.
How aggrieved Xing Linlin had been all these years?
If they had known earlier, they would have stopped Xing Linlin from moving out back then! But no matter what, Xing Shu was their daughter. Xing Guotai sighed. “Alright, don’t be angry. After Xing Shu marries Cheng Xingyang, we can bring Linlin back or buy her a villa next to our house. I heard that Linlin has been working hard, wanting to repay us. Zewu tried to persuade her and gave her a bank card, but she refused to accept it. She’s too stubborn.”
Wu Minxia nodded. She was extremely satisfied with Xing Linlin; but extremely disappointed with Xing Shu.
Of course, Xing Shu was not aware that she had been ridiculously stabbed in the back by Xing Linlin again. She was about to enter the private room when her cell phone rang—it was from the charity organization. She gestured to Cheng Lang and walked to a remote place to answer the call.
When Xing Shu received her first paycheck, she had transferred half of her salary to a charity organization and asked them to donate it to the orphanage—Radiant Welfare Home—that she and Xing Linlin grew up in. The monthly donation was due today, but so many things happened recently that she had forgotten.
A middle-aged man’s voice emanated from the phone. “Miss Xing Shu, good evening. We’ve already sent this month’s funds to Radiant Welfare Home. They have an upcoming event—making dumplings with the children of the Home. As their biggest donor, the director has always wanted to see you.”
“Thank you. I’ll transfer this month’s money later. As for making dumplings… probably not. I don’t know how to do it. Besides, I don’t want the director to know that I donated the money.” Xing Shu shook her head.
The middle-aged man said, “Alright, I shan’t disturb Miss Xing Shu then.”
Xing Shu hung up the phone. She was about to go to the private room when she saw Nie Heng standing at the door of the private room, smoking. There was also a woman standing beside him. The lights in the corridor were dim, but Xing Shu still recognized the woman’s face—it was Nie Xi.
Nie Xi took the cigarette from Nie Heng’s mouth and deposited it in her mouth. Her upturned eyes looked at Nie Heng provocatively. Xing Shu froze for a moment. She remembered that Nie Xi was the adopted daughter of the Nie Family, and Nie Heng was the successor of the Nie Family. The two of them were actually not blood-related siblings. Xing Shu saw Nie Heng suddenly grab Nie Xi’s wrist and push her into the washroom.
The washroom door was not closed fully. Xing Shu saw Nie Xi being placed on the sink; her legs wrapped around Nie Heng’s waist…
As the washroom door slowly closed, Xing Shu stood rooted to the ground; her body frozen. She had known Nie Xi for many years and had never known about their relationship. Her mind had gone completely blank at this sudden revelation.
Didn’t Nie Heng have a fiancée?
The corridor was silent; amplifying the sounds from the washroom. Probably mindful that Cheng Lang was still waiting in the private room, Nie Heng thrusted hard and fast—and it was over very soon. His mouth and collar were covered in traces of lipstick.
Nie Xi got down from the sink with trembling legs and smiled. “Brother, didn’t my future sister-in-law satisfy you?”
Nie Heng patted Nie Xi’s face cruelly and spat out words that cut like knives. “Your sister-in-law isn’t capable of having an affair with a man.”
Nie Xi instantly turned pale. Nie Heng adjusted his clothes and said, “Come out when you’re done.”
The washroom returned to silence. Nie Xi adjusted her clothes with trembling hands. When she went out and saw the shadow at the corner of the corridor, she froze. “Xing Shu…”
Nie Xi did not expect Xing Shu to stumble onto her affair with Nie Heng and instantly panicked. She did not know how much Xing Shu had seen, but she knew that her actions were no different from Xing Linlin’s to a certain extent. She frantically explained, “Xing Shu, listen to me. Nie Heng and Miss Liu don’t have any feelings for each other—it was just a political marriage.” Rumor had it that Miss Liu was very averse to sex… Nie Xi found many excuses to explain her deviant relationship with Nie Heng.
A storm brewed in Xing Shu’s eyes. After a long time, she asked in a hoarse voice, “Nie Xi, do you think Cheng Xingyang and I have any feelings for each other?”
Nie Xi trembled, not knowing what to say.
It was too much for Xing Shu—the person who had been self-righteously dissing Xing Linlin with her a moment ago had suddenly become the second Xing Linlin.
