Chapter 22
Really Helps You
At first, Nan Ge thought that Shen Yanqing was busy.
After all, there were so many companies under his corporation, and he was probably so busy every day that he could not reply immediately. This ought to be a normal phenomenon.
Thinking about it, the past few days should have been an illusion of politeness.
At the thought of this, Nan Ge was too embarrassed to continue sending him messages for fear of disturbing him.
At night, she stepped out of the library under the moonlight. The first thing she did was take out her phone and look at her WeChat messages.
However, from top to bottom, other than some active group chats and some messages from subscription accounts, there were no other private messages.
Especially the dialog with Shen Yanqing.
She opened it and checked the latest chats. It was the same ones that she had sent out early in the morning.
Seeing this, Nan Ge could not help but pout. She tapped her finger on the back of the phone in frustration, feeling an indescribable sense of disappointment.
“Nan Ge, let’s go!”
In the distance, her roommate was telling her to hurry up.
“Coming!” Putting away her emotions, she put her phone in her pocket and chased after her with the book.
When they returned to the dormitory, they took turns washing up. Nan Ge received a call from her mother at the last minute, so she was the last to take a shower.
When she came out, she looked up and saw that the dormitory was empty. No one knew where the others had gone.
“Where are they?!”
On the balcony, her roommates heard the commotion behind them. Someone turned around, knocked on the balcony door, and waved at her. “It’s snowing, Nan Ge. Come and take a look!”
Hearing this, Nan Ge stopped drying her hair and quickly walked over in her slippers.
It was as if children from the south would never get tired of snow no matter how many times they saw it.
At least, that was the case for Nan Ge.
Every time it was winter when she heard the words “it’s snowing”, it was as if a switch had been turned on. No matter what she was doing at that time, she had to immediately rush outside to take a look.
——
Her three roommates were standing on the balcony, wrapped in thick coats, taking photos of the night sky.
Nan Ge had just come out of the bathroom and was wearing a thin nightdress. As soon as she pushed the door open, she shivered in the wind.
“It’s actually snowing again!” She hugged her body tightly with the towel and looked up at the snow falling from the sky in surprise.
The moment she saw the snow, her entire body inexplicably began to warm up. Even though her calves were trembling under her nightdress, she did not seem to notice it.
“Nan Ge, aren’t you cold? Why don’t you put on a coat before coming out?”
Nan Ge chuckled. “It’s fine, it’s fine. I’m not cold!”
With this bit of wind, it was not impossible to persevere.
She exhaled a breath of white air and could not help but sigh. “What’s going on in Huai City this year? There sure seems to be a lot of snow.”
She still remembered that when she was a freshman last year, it did not snow in Huai City during winter.
Winter had barely started this year, but it had already snowed twice.
“Who knows? It’s going down pretty hard. I reckon we’ll be able to go down and build a snowman by tomorrow morning.”
“What snowman? Didn’t you see the group chat? The school of planning next door has already declared war on the faculty. There will be a snowball fight in the field tomorrow morning.”
Upon hearing the word “snowball fight”, Nan Ge instantly became excited. She quickly raised her hand. “I want to go too!”
Su Hui replied, “Then let’s go together. We don’t have classes in the morning anyway. After playing, we can go study in the afternoon.”
“Okay!”
That night, Nan Ge went to bed early, waiting to go downstairs to have fun tomorrow morning.
As for Shen Yanqing… she had temporarily forgotten about him.
——
Nan Ge rarely woke up early, especially voluntarily.
At seven o’clock in the morning, she was fully dressed and wrapped from head to toe like a chubby little glutinous rice ball.
The four of them went downstairs together. Su Hui yawned as she walked. “I didn’t expect that I woke up early this semester, not to attend class, but to build a snowman.”
“You have to stand up straight and be more excited!” Nan Ge bounced all the way, forming a sharp contrast with her.
Su Hui said, “As a native northerner, I see snow every winter.”
“…Excuse me.”
The four of them did not walk far before they built a small snowman under the dormitory building. After breakfast, the four of them excitedly rushed to the field to gather.
There were already quite a number of people from the school of planning. There were only a few from their faculty, and they did not seem too enthusiastic.
However, Nan Ge did not care at all. After finding a spot, she began to make snowballs.
After a dozen consecutive balls, Nan Ge’s hands were still red from the cold even through the gloves.
She looked up at Su Hui, who was texting her boyfriend. She did not quite understand. “Su Hui, why aren’t you moving?”
Su Hui followed the voice and lowered her head. Her gaze landed on a white ball sitting on the ground. Then, she sighed and said, “As someone with a lot of experience, I’m telling you that these are useless and a waste of time.”
“Huh?” Nan Ge was stunned. “Then what should I do?”
This was the first time she had played a snowball fight in her life.
“When the time comes, just pick up the snow and throw it at someone, or pull them into the snow and press them hard. It’s faster, more accurate, and more ruthless than this.”
...
Nan Ge was silent for a few seconds before she blinked. “What I’m saying is, is there a less violent way to win?”
“Yes.” Su Hui nodded and shared another trick with her. “Go and pick a few rocks from under the tree. The bigger the better. Later, wrap one in each snowball. You’ll definitely win.”
Nan Ge, “…”
Yes, it was a sure win.
However, after taking the shot, the opponent would never be able to stand up again.
In the end, Nan Ge did not listen to Su Hui and silently loaded another twenty rounds of ammunition.
However, Su Hui knew what she was saying.
Su Hui was right. Her “ammunition” did not hurt at all.
At first, both sides were very harmonious and polite. However, in less than five minutes, when the first person slipped and fell, the situation completely went out of control.
The two sides began to fight fiercely. The first figure to fall did not stand up.
Unfortunately, Nan Ge was the first one to slip.
...
She was successfully buried in the snow and died on the spot.
In the end, it was her three roommates who pulled her out while laughing until their faces hurt.
Su Hui went straight to the security guard and borrowed a snow shovel. With a shovelful of snow, she “buried” the senior from the school of planning who was splashing snow on her.
The glasses on the senior’s face were slapped away by the snow. In the end, he leaned against the snow to look for his glasses as he said to Nan Ge, “You have a good roommate. She really helps you when you’re down.”
Nan Ge said, “When she rushed over just now, I admit that I panicked too. I was really afraid that she wouldn’t be able to differentiate between friend and foe and would whack me to death while I was at it.”
After being successfully rescued, Nan Ge leaned against the goalpost and panted heavily. “How is this a snowball fight? This is no different from World War III!”
As soon as she finished speaking, a snowball flew over from somewhere and smashed at her feet.
Nan Ge was so frightened that she rolled and crawled, quickly escaping from the scene of war.
After emerging from the crowd on the field, Nan Ge successfully separated from her roommates.
She reached into her pocket, wanting to call her roommate.
The moment she reached into her down jacket, the next second, her expression changed drastically.
Damn it. Where did her phone go?
