Chapter 46 Ghosts!
"Ahhh at last! sunshine!"
Immediately after the dust settled, George ran out of the cave with his arms spread wide seeming to embrace the world.
Just after he stepped out, Alvin and Davis slowly followed, it's just that Alvin didn't seem to want to admire the sunshine like George but rather admired the outcome of his explosion.
Davis on the other hand had a rather plain expression on his face as if he didn't care for their newfound freedom. Too bad his eyes betrayed him as they kept darting from side to side in excitement.
Watching the behaviours of the three of them Elric slightly shook his head with a smile on his face
*Well I should let them play after all they've been cooped up in the cave for a month now*
Thinking of this, Elric carefully found a small piece of rock to sit on while he watched them let themselves go.
Sitting down, Elric immediately felt something was off so with that in mind he quickly surveyed his surroundings.
The first thing that caught Elric's eyes were two corpses not too far away although a month had passed, their corpses hadn't completely decomposed but this alone wasn't enough to gain his attention
Above the corpses a black-like gas could be seen attached to them, from time to time a vague pained face could be seen with it
"Ghost!"
Seeing those figures Elric couldn't help but blurt that out. Looking again at the corpses a bad thought suddenly came to Elric's mind
Immediately to confirm his guess, Elric quickly climbed the nearest tree in order to get a clear gaze deep within the valley
"Damn! What on Elias is this!" Looking at the scene below him Elric shouted in disbelief
It turns out that the thunder bunnies' self-explosion had a more catastrophic effect than he thought.
Looking around the valley, black foggy figures could be seen floating out of the hundreds if not thousands of remnant corpses, and he further discovered that with the setting of the sun, their figures seemed to become more and more vivid.
"Damn! What is this? don't tell me ghosts really exist!'
Looking at them Elric couldn't help but be confused after all according to normal logic, their souls upon death should go to the kingdom of God of some beast God or a God in charge of thunder bunnies however what he was currently seeing was contrary
"Could it be that the Gods don't need the souls of beasts and if so, what's the difference between the souls of beasts and other living beings"
Mumbling under his breath Elric couldn't help but frown, unfortunately he had no clue to answer.
"However, we need to leave now!"
Looking at the three fading suns Elric suddenly had a bad feeling.
Without wasting too much time he quickly made his way back to George and the others who by this time had already finished playing around
"Haha, young master, you're back! I was just about to go look for you!"
With a hearty laugh, George walked over and gave Elric a huge hug obviously the joy from leaving the cave was still there
And seeing Elric, the two Alvin and Davis quickly made their way towards telling how much the outside world is much better than being trapped in a cave.
Unfortunately given the situation at hand Elric had no other choice but to rudely interrupt them.
"Ahem! You guys keep quiet for a minute, we have another situation on our hand"
Immediately hearing there was another problem just after leaving the cave the three of them suddenly felt a sense of frustration.
Seeing them like this Elric himself had a wry smile even though he felt this was a bit too much
*It seems that the bad luck curse must be dealt with quickly if not gods know how we might end up*
Thinking of this he decided to ask Reinhardt what he knew about curses immediately after he returned to town.
With a serious face, Elric quickly told them about his discovery and how it might be dangerous to still stay here at night
As time passed the more Elric explained the situation the more the faces of the three of them became ugly as they realised the seriousness of the matter, although they weren't sure if those things Elric saw were actually ghosts but they weren't willing to find out
"And this is why we need to get out of this valley by midnight!"
Saying everything Elric kept quiet waiting to hear their response it's just that when David and George were about to agree, a voice was suddenly heard interrupting them
"However young master, I agree we have to leave however we have a problem"
With his hands raised Alvin quickly caught Elric's attention
"When we were escaping earlier we kind of blew up our only ride"
With a helpless expression, Alvin quickly pointed out the flaw in Elric's plan after all if they tried to escape on their feet they probably wouldn't make it far before nightfall
Hearing Alvin saying this, Elric and the rest couldn't help but recall this. Soon the four of them suddenly had helpless expressions on their faces
"..."
Silence….
After a few minutes of sulking, Elric suddenly reached into his back pocket
"Look here, we do have a way to escape before nightfall!"
As Elric said that, he took out the map that Reinhardt gave him.
"Here! as long as we make it to this river on time, we can follow the current downstream completely leaving the valley before nightfall"
With that said Elric suddenly had a relaxed expression on his face after finding a solution
"However, young master, we don't have a boat. How do you expect us to follow the current?"
Saying this again Alvin suddenly felt his young master seemed bad at making plans today, however unlike before Elric didn't even look helpless upon hearing there was an error in his plan but rather laughed
"Haha what are you talking about Alvin, since there's no boat there's only one this to do"
"Make one!"
