Chapter 28: Planned Feast
Chapter 28: Planned Feast
Erika nodded her head, agreeing to Marcel's words.
"Also, not only that. If someone is in need of materials that can be found in this Yak's body, you can even sell it for an even higher price." She added.
Hearing that, Sara also began to hesitate. She did not know that this Yak cost that much as normal meat in the market would only cost around 5 Silver Coins per kilo. One must note that a single Gold Coin was equivalent to 1,000 Silver Coins. Her monthly wage being a lowly servant in the red manor was only 200 Silver Coins per month, barely enough to live paycheck to paycheck in this remote village.
One kilo of normal animal meat would almost cost her entire day of work so she would only prepare them on special occasions.
Hence, when she received the 50 Gold Coins that Miguel handed to her, she was extremely happy. However, he did not plan to buy lavish things for herself, instead, she planned to go to the market during her day off and buy Miguel some brand new clothes and other necessities that he might need on his trip to the main branch.
When she received the 100 Gold Coins compensation pay from Jonas' death, she became even more confident on being able to buy Miguel the clothes he deserves.
She calculated in her mind and her face lost color when she realized how many Gold Coins this massive Yak would fetch Miguel if he sold it at the market.
It was good to brag about Miguel's achievement, but if it was this pricey, she was no longer willing to.
She turned to look at Miguel and said, "Miggy, don't waste such valuable money. You can use it to buy some things in the main branch. Don't worry about us too much, alright?"
Miguel thought for a moment before he let out a smile, "Don't worry about it mom. I don't need this much money now anyways and besides, we should treat our guests with the utmost hospitality, right?"
In truth, Miguel actually did not expect it for the yak's meat to be that high. However, earning money was not the main reason why he brought the yak back.
His real reason was really to treat all their neighbors into a feast before he leaves the village.
For one thing, he knew that it would make Sara happy. Second, he wanted to create a neighborhood around Sara where they would see her as someone important. A neighborhood of servants that would be willing to protect her in times of need, just because Sara and her son 'treated' them to a sumptuous meal before he left the village.
As they say, the poor people can become the most loyal dogs if treated well.
This was all for Sara's sake. No amount of Gold Coins he would not be willing to spend just to ensure her safety. Besides, it was just some mere Gold Coins. Knowing that Beast's meat had such a high price, he was not worried on where to obtain some funds in the future at all.
A loving mother, and at the same time a mistreated wife.
She reminds him of his motherly figure from his last life.
Miguel sighed in melancholy as he patted her shoulder, "Go mom. It's getting late. The earlier we cook them, the earlier we can have the sumptuous feast for everyone."
Seeing that Miguel was already fixed on his decision, Sara no longer opposed it and just decided to follow his wishes.
"Oh right, just help perfunctorily alright? I don't want you tiring yourself because of it," Miguel suddenly added out of the blue.
This was a sumptuous meal that should be remembered by everyone else. He doesn't want to ruin it with Sara's... well, mediocre cooking.
Thinking that Miguel was only worried about her well-being, Sara smiled reassuringly before she went to inform the neighboring servants.
After her figure disappeared from his view, Miguel finally turned to look at the two sudden guests.
Marcel stepped out of his stupor as he finally revealed why he was here, "Honestly, I only brought my daughter as she did not believe that you had truly awakened a grimoire and to inform you that she arrived and she would be the one bringing you guys to Blazing City, to the main branch."
"However, since you planned to treat us to a high class meat, then we shall not decline your offer, right?" He added with a smile.
Even for him, a Level 3 Normal Grade meat was still something very valuable. Although he could afford to buy it, he would only do so during an important occasion. After all, for summoners, strengthening their body was not important. Instead, they should focus on training their chant to summon the grimoire more quickly, or train their beasts so that they could use attacks and follow orders more efficiently during a battle.
"Right, I'll leave the two of you to talk. I'll go over to help. Level 3 meats are quite tough to cut, they might not be able to cut them with normal knives." Marcel stated before he left without waiting for Miguel and Erika to respond.
After his figure disappeared, Miguel turned his head and caught Erika staring right into his face.
Caught in the act, Erika could only gently move her gaze away as she said, "I did not expect for you to truly recover from your condition and you even awakened a grimoire at the same time."
The condition she mentioned was of course, him being a 'fool' before. Long before she awakened, she had already noticed Miguel's peculiarity. He was very handsome yet he acted like he was always in a daze and didn't talk with others. He would even laugh on his own from time to time.
She was attracted to how handsome he was yet she kept a distance from him due to the condition. It was not that she did not try approaching him either, it was just that she was ignored ruthlessly like the others.
In the end, she could only gaze at him from afar, admire his looks as she came of age, awakened a grimoire and finally moved to Blazing City two years ago.
When she saw the mission of bringing this year's Peach Village grimoire awakeners, she immediately accepted the mission as she thought it was convenient as she wanted to return home anyways. Part of the reason was that she missed her father, and the other was, she wanted to see Miguel's handsome face once again.
When she heard her father mention that Miguel had awakened, she was reluctant to believe it, yet expectant to its truthfulness at the same time. When she saw Miguel conversing to his mother earlier, Erika was elated and overjoyed.
Her gaze was fixed on his handsome face before she was caught in the act by Miguel himself.
Miguel smiled and answered, "I did not expect this to happen either."
"Oh, right, do you happen to know someone named Domen?" He suddenly asked.
