Chapter 59 Fabian’s First Visit To The Lake View Villa
Fabian furrowed his eyebrows after his short conversation with Arlan. He felt that Arlan knew something about the bombing incident. "What does that guy know?" He muttered to himself while pondering deeply, but his brain only hurt the more he thought.
"Sir, what should we say to the chief about the bodies we found on the rooftop?" A voice interrupted his thoughts.
Fabian frowned upon hearing his words. This matter was the most confusing part of the incident. There were more than twenty dead people found at the rooftop of the opposite building of the bombed establishment and they were identified as members of Leandro's drug cartel. Furthermore, there were firearms discovered at the scene.
Those people were fearless criminals who didn't fear the law and the number of people who had died in their hands was innumerable. Even the police had to send an elite team to wipe them out. To eliminate them without making a sound was impossible unless the military was involved and they would send the best members of the Special Forces. However, Fabian and his team didn't notice any movement from the military in the area. This made everything even more confusing for them. Just who killed those people?
"I'll report this to the chief myself, but I have to meet someone first before I report this to him. If someone else asks about the matter, just keep quiet and tell them that the details about this mission are strictly confidential." Fabian replied hesitantly.
"Yes, sir!"
"Wait! Can you let me see the pictures again?" Fabian asked the police officer.
"Of course. Just give me a second. I'll grab them for you." The police officer walked to another police officer who was holding a folder and asked for the pictures of the bodies found on the rooftop. He then went back to Fabian and handed him an iPad as he said. "Sir, here are the images."
"Thank you." Fabian took the iPad and scanned the images. There were over a hundred images here and they were captured from all angles. After checking all the pictures, he still couldn't believe what he saw. "Is someone even capable of doing this?" He muttered in a solemn tone. All those people died in a single shot to their foreheads. They didn't even manage to fire a single shot based on the evidence they found on the rooftop. That means that those people were either caught unprepared or were killed so fast they didn't have the time to fight back.
The police officer standing beside Fabian adjusted the rim of his glasses as he said. "Sir, we also didn't receive any reports from the residents in the area about those people. It's like they were killed silently. If it was done by a sniper rifle, their heads wouldn't have been recognizable, but from the wounds on their foreheads, we can assume that the person who killed them used a pistol or a light firearm."
Fabian nodded his head in agreement. He couldn't help but recall the tall person who told him about the information. "Take this back to the headquarters and don't let anyone see them besides our team and the chief. As for how those guys were killed, we can only wait until the autopsy is done before we can make a concrete explanation."
After the investigators completed their investigation, the crime scene was cleaned up and barricaded with yellow tapes that were labeled 'keep out', 'off limits', and 'warning'. All the clues they found at the scene were also collected as evidence.
The matter was wrapped up and the police chose to keep quiet about the matter. They only informed the media that everything was under control.
Soon, the agreed time with Arlan came so Fabian hailed a taxi and told the driver to drop him off at the entrance of the Royal Territory.
When he arrived at the entrance of the territory, he saw four security guards with bulletproof vests. They each had a semi-automatic rifle strapped over their shoulder and their right hand was holding the handles of their guns as if they were prepared to fire at any time. There was also a tall man wearing a suit talking with them and from his build and aura, Fabian guessed that he was either an army veteran or a seasoned security personnel.
The moment Fabian alighted the taxi, the crouching German Shepherd stood up and stared at him unblinkingly. The four security guards and the man wearing a suit also turned their gazes to him.
It was a lie if he said that he wasn't intimidated by these people. Fabian's instincts told him that if he were to fight any of these people, he would be weeping on the floor.
"Good evening, gentlemen. I'm Police Executive Master Sergeant Fabian Lanzon. I have an appointment with Mr. Arlan Dominic Roa." Fabian showed them his ID as he introduced himself.
"Captain Fabian, I've been waiting for you! I am Karl Bryan Vercede, Mr. Roa's driver and bodyguard." The man in the suit said the moment Fabian introduced himself.
Fabian shook hands with Karl. "Thank you for your patience."
"Follow me. I'll bring you to the villa to see Mr. Roa." Karl made a 'this way' gesture as he pointed at the Subaru Forester nearby.
"Alright." Fabian nodded at the four security guards before he entered the vehicle with Karl.
Karl was silent along the way so Fabian didn't ask him anything. He became nervous as they drove deeper inside the territory. He didn't even feel amazed when he saw the huge mansions and villas.
After what seemed like an eternity, Karl's calm voice echoed. "We're here."
Fabian opened the door and got down the car. He then stared at the well-lit villa in front of him.
"Captain Fabian, let's go. Mr. Roa is waiting for you in his study."
Fabian nodded his head and followed Karl inside the villa.
A beautiful maid came to open the door for them and she also escorted them to Arlan's study.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Karl knocked on the door before opening it.
